I finally did it! After 16 months, I finally got my post pandemic quarantine haircut. And It couldn't have come any sooner. Since this is a big step for me easing back into the real world of in-person interactions, I wanted to go to the best of the best for this haircut. This salon has amazing reviews and for good reason. I made my appointment online and it was super simple. The staff was incredibly friendly upon my arrival. Even offered me water or tea while I waited in the lobby. But let's talk about Alyssa Scott, the magician that magically transformed my hair from a dried out rat's nest into a slick beautifully layered landscape. She knew exactly what look I was going for after showing her my reference photos. She completely understood my hair and it's texture. She was able to wash, cut, blow dry, and hold a great conversation all within an hour. I have incredibly thick hair and I have a lot of it, so most of the time my haircut appointments last for a couple of hours. This was also the first cut that I didn't have to immediately rush home to fix or alter. She executed the exact style that I had envisioned for myself. Diva for a day (a non profit organization gifting cancer patients with a spa day) gifted me a spa day, and I got to pick ANY spa I wanted to go to in the state of Oregon, and I chose Gervais, based on reviews, even though I've never been! The spa is supposed to make the cancer patient feel like a complete diva, and make it a very personal experience, and I did not experience any of that at the salon, as a matter of fact, it was quite the opposite! Almost every other salon I have seen cancer patients go to all throughout the United States, have made this experience wonderful for other cancer patients, and have even gifted them a bouquet of roses. I did not get greeted personally and nobody had any idea why I was even there! Not the massage therapist (who was extremely kind and wonderful by the way, and the massage was decent), not the aesthetician for the facial or even the nail tech (who is completely unexperienced, and it was probably my worst pedicure ever)! The facial aesthetician actually tried to upsell me, until she found out all of my services were prepaid for, and then she literally stopped talking and took me back to her room and started her facial process, which was extremely odd, especially considering the fact that she constantly kept checking her phone and then touching my face, very unsanitary, and she was extremely loud opening and closing cabinets, and it was very non-relaxing! Kesha should not be allowed to even touch her phone while she's giving a facial! I am very bummed. I decided to pick this salon over other ones I was considering. I feel extremely ripped off, and do not feel like I was taking care of properly or even acknowledged for the reason I was there, or the experience! I do not, and will never recommend this salon for anyone! They clearly do not care about their clients or organization sending clients their way for special days! read more

Just had an amazing pedicure today with Chardonnay. First I found the spa to be very clean and nicely furnished and the receptionist nice and helpful. Then Chardonnay took me back to the nail spa area. It was also clean and had a pleasant odor, not a chemical polish smell. Chardonnay made sure I was comfortable and then began the pedicure with a warm neck towel and foot soak. She was easy to talk to and interesting as well as skilled. It was very relaxing and she was very thorough. Great nail work, massage and pampering. I will be setting up a regular appointment with Chardonna. read more

I had a pedicure from a gal that was really bad and she admitted this was her side gig she didn't appear to have much experience in pedicure at all. She cut into my toe and it was bleeding. Worst experience ever. I made a complaint and instead of being understanding they were rude and didn't care. Would not go back to this place Front desk staff young and ignore you. I have been to Gervais several times in the past. However, I was recently in their salon, and I have to say that the experience was very disappointing. I choose Gervais because I know that it is top notch and of the best caliber. This last experience really changed my mind. I feel like I was rushed in and out. It wasn't the thorough, cut above service that I have received in the past. My hair services cost $180 and my hair looks like something that I would get from Supercuts. The attention to detail, and the personalized service that I am used to, was totally missing. I haven't received any compliments on my hair, but have received negative feedback from family members. Wesley is a natural at tuning into the rhythm of the body and sensing where the attention is needed most. He is gentle yet assertive with strains and knots, communicative and creative, and he goes above and beyond in every way he can to ensure that you are taken care of and healed and/or restored by the end of your session with him. This is the only place I will go for any hair service! The staff is friendly and the stylists are thorough. I regularly schedule with Brycee, and she's very careful with my hair to make sure she's cutting it to the length I want, and I ALWAYS leave the salon absolutely loving my hair. (I've had issues with stylists at other establishments cutting too much length off so it was a relief to find Brycee!) Brycee also makes great conversation during the appointment and is very personable and welcoming. I have curly hair too and she still does a fantastic job every time so if anyone's looking for a stylist who's good with curls, visit her! read more

I don't normally leave Yelp reviews, but I had to comment on the services I've received from Gervais. I have had so many amazing times here. It wasn't just a fluke. At first I thought it was just Karlie, the talented lady doing my waxing there, but then I got a mani pedi. The mani/pedi was a full on spa experience, then yesterday I received a facial from Ruby. I am over the moon about how good these treatments and ladies have made me feel! Karlie is super talented, exact, and professional. Ruby is super lovely, caring, and brought an element of healing and skin care education to the facial that I totally did not expect. The ladies who did my mani/pedi were so amazing also, and I'm sorry I can't remember their names, it was some time ago. Anyway, 100% would recommend any of the services here. Very inconsiderate! Had an appointment for a facial today as it's my birthday. The lady that was supposed to do my facial called in sick which is unfortunate, but they didn't call me to let me know. Said they didn't have my phone number which is a lie because I got a reminder text on Friday to confirm the appointment so clearly they did. (See photo.) I'm 36 weeks pregnant, made sure I didn't eat or drink too much before so I don't have to pee during the facial, drove in all the way from Harrisburg and got a baby sitter for my two year old, just for them to send me away. Waste of time, babysitter cost and gas money, not to mention a huge bummer on my birthday. Last time I checked, Gervais is the only exclusive Aveda salon in Eugene. Hence, when I was in dire need to restock some of my fave yummy-smelling Aveda products, I ventured downtown to check the place out. Parking is a breeze here - there's a large lot across the street from the shopping center which offers free 3 hour parking for patrons of any of the 5th Street Market shops. The salon itself is beautiful and fairly new at only 6 years old. They offer a full-range of Aveda products - lotions, shampoos/conditioners, makeup, fragrances, etc. In addition to hair styling and coloring, they also do waxing, nails, massage, facials, makeup application, and have several spa packages to choose from. When I went in, I was on an hour-long lunch break and on a whim, asked if there was an opening for a quick waxing appointment. Amazingly enough, they said they could fit me right in and offered me some herbal tea while I waited. Unfortunately, there turned out to be a mix-up and after waiting 15 minutes, I was told the esthetician couldn't see me. The front desk girls were VERY apologetic and insisted that if my schedule permitted, I return after work for a complimentary waxing session. Upon return, I was seen quickly and treated very well by the esthetician (who is lovely!) - she even refused my tip. I recommend this salon highly, not only because of their great product selection and beautiful ambiance but mainly because of the above-and-beyond customer service! read more

This place is almost TOO luxurious for Eugene. My boyfriend got me a gift card here for my birthday, and I've been thrilled with my massage experiences. Going here makes me feel like I'm back in downtown Walnut Creek, California, surrounded by pretty people and civilization (i.e. Nordstrom and H&M). Gervais is the antithesis of the grungy-hippie-plastic-Walmart-furniture scheme embedded in too many local salons. It boasts tasty tea, a dynamic set-up that successfully separates its services, and professionals who don't bat an eye when you walk in wearing sweatpants. The ambiance is soothing, sure to whisk away even the most frazzled college student off on a mini vacation. That's when I scheduled my massages: during midterms and during finals week. I was able to get in the same day I made the appointment, and I saw Bethany for both massages. She was welcoming, knowledgeable, and most importantly, SKILLED. Bethany the Knot Slayer asked about stress-targeted areas and then attacked them, applying the perfect amount of pressure. Both times, I left feeling like I was in some state of Nirvana, blessed with a brand-new back. I even slept better over the next few nights. Gervais gift cards allow recipients to choose from a variety of services (I just happened to get addicted to the massages) AND tips can be taken from the gift card amount. I went here to dye my hair a fun color during these bleak times. After 6 hours at the salon, three days later all the color washed out when I went swimming at the river. Though my hair stylist was super awesome, she talked to her boss and was told that that can happen and they would have to charge me additionally to put more color in. Her boss also said that sometimes some people's hair doesn't hold color well, especially not the color I chose. If that was the case, why don't they pre warn people so that they are not liable? Instead I hold them accountable because I wasn't informed any of this and with all the money I spent... I won't be going back. I feel bad for my hair stylist because she did an awesome job, so this is purely putting blame on the people in charge. read more

I saw Maddi for a hair cut & color and was very disappointed at the result. Attention to detail is not this person's strong-suit. I think it is telling that both times I had an appointment, I got a message saying that they were done with their prior client early so they could scoot my appointment forward. The bleach was not left to process long enough so the color over top (supposed to be purple) turned an unattractive brassy magenta. The stylist also missed a large chunk of bleached hair in the front, so I had a blank spot. They just said "oops" and sent me on my way. The cut was jagged and uneven. The Color washed out in three washes (about 4 days apart, cold water, color-save shampoo). Unfortunately, the same could not be said for the scent. The Aveda products were SO strongly scented, cacophonous, and made me horribly nauseous. It lingered over two weeks. My sibling also got a couple of cuts from Maddi and the first was passable, but the second one was like a 6-year-old boy mullet pixie cut from hell. The bangs were uneven and did not follow her natural part. The nape of the neck was cut in blunt right angles. The top was layered in such a way that it bubbled at the top. After that bad of a cut, we did not trust Maddi enough to ask for a fix. The store itself had a very aloof atmosphere and it seems like the staff just can't be bothered. Save yourself some strife and a significant chunk of change and steer clear. read more

Terrible service. The stylist added a gross orange color in my weave. The blonde faded quickly and it was very expensive, $220. She wanted me to separate the cut from my color and found it with toning later and that ended up costing me $70 for the cut!! This place is definitely not worth the money. I had the opportunity of getting a massage from Kate, who was amazing. I didn't know what to expect after they recently reopened. They took my temperature and had me sign a document as I entered the salon. Kate walked me through the spa and ran me through what amenities aren't available at this time, such as showers and foot baths. (Or a complimentary glass of wine on your birthday) Everyone in the salon wore masks, both the staff and customers, and they had masks to give out as well as hand sanitizer. I had the most disappointing experience. I am 8 months pregnant and just wanted a nice spa pedicure which is very expensive but I knew what I was spending and wanted to treat myself and it was also my birthday so I wanted to go all out! I booked an appointment at 8:15am. The nail tech was a little late and apologized, it wasn't a big deal to me I'm easy going so it was okay. When she took me back she was set up for a manicure and I told her I didn't book that I booked a pedicure (pregnant so I can't reach my toes) she made me feel so inconvenient, told me we already behind "15 minutes" which was her fault?!? So she would try to get done what she could. I told her I would rather reschedule and not pay $75 for a rushed pedicure. She was so rude, no one ever apologized for the inconvenience. Iv been going here since I moved to eugene. The staff is always super friendly and very helpful. My only problem is that my first stylist moved away and now it seems like every time I get a new person they quit so not sure what that's about? I did go to there other location and it's pretty much the same they just don't off the spa part. Iv had the same issue with one of the stylist there. He always give me a really good haircut but styles my hair how he likes and I end up leaving and redoing my hair. So I'm still in the Market for a really good hair stylist. Great salon, great service. I got my hair lightened and toned and Kayla did a fantastic job. My only complaint is that I didn't see much disinfection or cleaning happening. The shampoo bowls are spotted with color, shampoo residue, conditioner residue, there was hair in them. It was kind of gross to look at and I was sort of hesitant to put my head in the bowls. I also saw one stylist reuse her clippers on 2 different clients and she never sprayed clippercide on the clippers in between clients. Kind of gross.
