To the many that might consider this business be aware, this is NOT your Big Box store! Therefore, come with your visit knowing that this place is ALL EXTERIOR, sun and rain worn, period. This place shouldn't be expected to come with perfection, anywhere! It is a USED items 'store' per se. With that in mind, some items have reasonably decent prices (you have to look!) and many others are a bit on the top end which dissatisfies many. Take it for what it's worth... I found all employees polite and assistful. I didn't try bargaining but I suppose it's worth a try. Items are somewhat unorganized but if you ask someone, they'll guide you to a specific area if they've got it. Not a bad place by no means, but prices could be a tad better IMO. I enjoyed my visit, and now know the majority of their stock. It's worth a visit just so you know their inventory since there aren't many of these store around town per se. read more

A wide variety of used and new building supplies. I will say they do have a lot of room, but they're organization is hit and miss in finding items. You can find the area, but sometimes you have to sort through items. Also outside items are getting torn down by the weather. I would have made this a 4 star, but the prices are not special. They get donations or something from the Home Depot and/or Lowes and other stores donated to this location which works with Beacon Foundation. I checked many prices at the regular stores and the prices were maybe 10-20% less, but often not enough to make a decision to buy second hand from the retail store. I am really disappointed that they do not clear out the damaged items and they don't have better pricing. They need to be more aggressive about discounting items that stay on the shelf or damaged. Buyer beware! I went in to look for a set of French doors for my granddaughter's house. The landscapers managed to break the glass with a weed eater throwing a rock into it. I found a set that was in fair (at best), and paid $162.93 for them. Got them home and realized they were 2 inches too tall. I took them back less than 2 hours later; didn't even take them out of my van. The girl said, "Sorry, we don't give refunds -- store credit, only." I informed them that no where on the receipt does it say, "No refunds". Long story short, one of the employees helped me find a pair that was the correct size. Same price. Got it home and realized the peg at the bottom that is used to lock the one side in place was missing. It was the only set they had, so I'm stuck with it. It's not like I shop at Gerson's each week and a "store credit" would be of any use to me. The employee who helped me find the door was a nice guy and explained to me how Gerson's examines the doors before putting them up for sale. I don't believe he intentionally lied, but I should have looked at them closer. The glass, in tack, and the size was my paramount concern. I didn't think to look at the stop at the bottom of the door. They have a sign, behind the counter and behind the plexiglass that puts a glare on their 8"X11" paper sign that says, "No refunds". We go there fairly often when shopping for home goods/repairs. The past few times we have left empty handed due to the prices. I know this isn't home depot or Lowes, but gosh, the prices could come down a bit. I actually "challenged" them on one price and was told they purchase and they have to pass some of the cost to purchasers. I like to wander, but miss the good deals they used to have. read more

I want to give more stars but I'm torn. In one hand, loose building materials at low prices SOUNDS good but then you get there. The prices are generally too high, the workers are nice but it's understaffed, and the selection depends on the day if the week. It's not quite. Candy store but you can get deals if you're patient. I got a nice saw my reclaimed wood for shelving for a little over $30 so I can't complain but a lot of the stuff is way overpriced. read more

I am not sure why people would give this place a bad review. It's awesome! But you really should know it's not like a Home Depot or even big lots. You really should go with no expectations, but bring any measurements you might have. For doors, windows, floors, etc... The staff is super friendly and helpful. Gerson's is an amazing place for used building materials. They have everything from bathtubs to doors to tile and a bunch of other treasures. We stopped in for an unconventional reason- to look for rustic items to repurpose for our wedding reception and we hit paydirt! Old shutters, mailboxes, etc. Some of the materials sit out in the open so they will get weathered, and be prepared to root around, but that's my favorite part. There's also a separate yard for wrought iron stuff and other metalwork. New material is coming in all the time so every trip to Gerson's is different! The staff is helpful and friendly as well. read more

What can i say i have bought and sold stuff to Gersons for 20 year. I was in there the other day to help a friend find a pink toilet, the 50's pink. This is the place to find things that will make your project more unique than just going to the depot. I have many things from here in my on house, it is not an easy thing though sometimes it takes multiple trips digging through thing that are dirty as crap and yes the actual crap sometimes. In the end you can find things to re-purpose. It however is not like it used to be things are much more picked over because of the design shows and such, but if you are willing to do the work cool things can happen to you too. read more

Buyer beware. Anything that comes in a box that says "OK" labeled on side.... is probably not "OK". Just purchased a steam mop that was missing most every part to assemble. Pretty much worthless and for the price I will need to pay to order the parts I could have purchased one at Home Depot with a lot less trouble. Save yourself the time and frustration. Don't buy anything in a box. Cabinets or bricks or paintbrushes... maybe. But certainly nothing that requires any assembly or has various parts required. read more

Gerson's is greedy! They used to be OK but somebody has corrupted them with a new business model that goes beyond "whatever the market will bear." Now they are scamming customers. They apparently count on the fact that most people don't know what things cost and just assume they are getting a good deal at a used materials place. But you can actually get some things cheaper at Home Depot! As one employee told me, "to us, pipe is pipe" and they don't seem to get that old, bent, rusted pipe is not the same as new. Do them and their customers a favor and always compare their prices with what it costs new. Even if it is a little cheaper consider the condition and that "all sales are final"--no refunds, no exchanges, and of course no guarantees. The market works both ways. terrible, horrible and waste of time!!! Waited to get help with paint but they were to lazy to get it off pallet. left me and other person just standing there. sent a guy over with fork lift and said let us know when you are loaded up and simple walked away. we both gave up when when we figured out they expected us to unwrap a pallet that was three down and lift up 5 gallon paint bucket ourselves and load them on pallet. walking to my car i stopped inside to see what was going on. they were sitting on desk. i was surprised that they actually asked me if i needed something. did not even recognize me after telling me a bunch of crap and leaving me waiting outside.wanted to tell them how bad they were, but did not see the point. if did not care before why would they care now.
