He needed to be reminded that 'WE' the customers pay his wages, NOT the company! Turns out he is the owner. Go figure. Perhaps some re-training in franchise quality standards on how to treat potential new customers with money to spend would certainly be in order. I will not be contributing to his wages and taking my head gasket replacement elsewhere where my money is more appreciated with a at least a welcome, and appropriate mannerism... for starters! I fell for the "#3 piston" scam/Pink Tax. When I got it back, the car runs worse and the horn didn't work. When I called, they said they would change the fuse. I don't trust them with my car so I took it elsewhere. Took it to Dolphin Automotive and guess what? The horn under the airbag requires the clock spring to be replaced, but Helmut's couldn't figure this out. The engine fan is 'clipping' something and is causing the engine to overheat, A/C not to work, and makes a grinding sound. Helmut's couldn't figure it out. In summary, Helmut's has seriously dropped their game and lost a repeat customer. I will never take any vehicle to them again. Dolphin was able to diagnose the problem, work with me on order of priority based on affordability, and actually look under the surface for the problem and solution. It was never the #3 piston.

BEWARE! The manager told me my 1996 VW Jetta required special transmission fluid on my initial…read morevisit. After informing me that my auto transmission had "massive issues" and needed to be rebuilt, I told him I wasn't about to spend thousands of dollars on it. I told him to replace the fluid and I would come and get it. He was very confrontational and told me that was a waste of money. He pushed me to have it rebuilt even though I told him several days earlier that I was only prepared to spend $200 on the servicing. This transmission has a very minor delay first thing in the morning. All I wanted was to have the fluids topped off. This guy then replaces the fluid with regular AT fluid and tells me he does it all the time. He told me that VW has falsely scared owners into using "their stuff". Wow, was I confused. So I called VW and they informed me that "under no circumstances" should I use regular ATF. VW told me that the 2 are not compatible and that I would end up doing more damage. So this PDS guy tells me it needs the special fluid but then changes his mind 3 days later and tells me he uses the regular ATF all the time. Crazy! This outfit comes across as very shady and crooked. The manager (owner?) Pat even gave me crap because he thought I was late for my appointment. He told me he had to bump me as I was late for my 8:30am appointment. Well Pat, the appointment was scheduled for 9am and I arrived at 9:05am to find you were not even there. I stood in the reception for 19 minutes (until 9:24 if you can't add) waiting for you to roll in. Your staff didn't even have the courtesy to acknowledge me there and then I got scolded for "being late" and getting "bumped". This outfit is a scam and I will not be surprised when the doors close. Poor management/ownership and staff with no class or courtesy. Save your money, sanity and vehicle; Go anywhere else! My Jetta is now at the local VW dealer getting the proper attention now. What a world of difference! I'm just sorry I didn't take it there in the first place.
