If we wanted to rent out ad space to them, we'd have informed them in advance, and set a fee for doing so. But a bolt was snapped, so the unforgivable thing was to get the advertising bolted on, they drilled FOUR NEW HOLES through the body of the car. Photos taken just in case. As we don't want to deal with an insurance deductible, I'm going to seal up those four holes myself. As for the snapped-off bolt? I, an amateur with home tools, was able to drill it out using an ordinary drill and some cutting fluid in about 10 minutes, how is this beyond the skill of a professional mechanic? A closer look at the bill reveals they charged $44 to do this on top of the things that were actually asked for. $5 was for parts... the ad itself maybe?! Or was it for the 4 masonry screws they punched through the body of the car. Addendum: They admit fault, will even pay up (but only after the reviews come down), but won't offer an explanation for how it happened, nor any guarantee that they won't do it to someone else. He even gave some song and dance about how the ads are normal business practice (which they sort of are for the more desperate outfits, but they really should ask first since there's an actual dollar value to advertising - doubly so if they have to put holes through your car to do it). Zero explanation for why auto mechanics couldn't drill out a snapped bolt, had they had this skill we wouldn't even be talking about this, I'd have just quietly removed the ad that had been screwed into the official mounts. So the bad reviews stay up unless they can come up with some explanation and guarantee, that's the whole point of reviews, to spare future customers the aggravation.

I brought my vehicle to Tires Plus for a basic seasonal tire swap. What I got in return was a…read morenightmare of vehicle damage, poor treatment, and zero accountability. Immediately after the service, I noticed steering issues, loud squealing, and my vehicle pulling to the left -- none of which were present beforehand. I returned for a pre-booked oil change the following week and expressed my concerns; they then had their mechanic test drive and inspect my vehicle. At no point did they acknowledge any major issues or mention anything unsafe. The Service Advisor came out and asked if I'd hit anything hard. I said no. He said, "Your steering wheel is way off." During that visit, they also told me my car needed rear brakes, possibly a seized caliper, and quoted me over $1,700 in repairs -- which I later confirmed were not needed at all. I had also just had my rear brakes done not even 2 years prior. They also recommended an alignment -- but when I asked to book it, they told me to wait until I "did my brakes." I was not informed that my vehicle was unsafe to drive or that the alignment needed to be done immediately. Not long after, while driving to Abbotsford with my sister and toddler, I nearly lost control of my vehicle on the highway. I was so scared I couldn't drive it home. I inched it to another shop, where I learned that my car was unsafe to drive due to: * Both control arms were damaged and needed replacement. * My tires were worn to the cords on the inside edges * The alignment was severely off on all 4 corners * My winter rims were severely dented and caved in and no longer usable. Even more disturbing: When Tires Plus hammered my winter rims excessively with a sledgehammer during removal, there was no attempt to notify me, no attempt to warn me of any damages that might occur, and the damaged rims were handed back in plastic bags without any notice or explanation. I was sent on my way with a severely compromised vehicle. Not once. But TWICE. When I raised these concerns, the shop owner laughed at me and dismissed my experience entirely. That lack of professionalism was as shocking as the damage itself. To be clear, this isn't about trying to get free service -- it's about safety, transparency, and respect. Prior to this visit, my vehicle had passed a full inspection elsewhere: tires, alignment, steering, and suspension were all in good condition. The problems began immediately after this shop's service. I've since documented everything -- with photos, written reports, and damaged parts. I trusted this shop to do a routine job, and they returned my vehicle in far worse shape. I absolutely cannot recommend Tires Plus.

I fell for the "#3 piston" scam/Pink Tax. When I got it back, the car runs worse and the horn didn't work. When I called, they said they would change the fuse. The horn under the airbag requires the clock spring to be replaced, but Helmut's couldn't figure this out. The engine fan is 'clipping' something and is causing the engine to overheat, A/C not to work, and makes a grinding sound. Helmut's couldn't figure it out. In summary, Helmut's has seriously dropped their game and lost a repeat customer. I will never take any vehicle to them again. Dolphin was able to diagnose the problem, work with me on order of priority based on affordability, and actually look under the surface for the problem and solution. It was never the #3 piston.

Turns out we needed an alternator and it was 3:30pm when we arrived (they close at 5pm) We were extremely grateful they drove to parts store to pick up new alternator and installed it, we were gone by 5pm. If they wouldn't have gone out of their way for us, we would have have to stay in a hotel for another 2 nights, miss work and and school Monday to get our truck looked.
