We called these guys and Al said to bring it on by. We did and they fit us in right away. They're friendly, helpful and honest! If we didn't live in Richmond these guys would be our mechanic.

The truck went 193 miles before the transmission seized. From what I know now I'm so thankful it was not towed back to the shop we had the transmission repaired and it ended up in the hands of Mark and Owen at L&D transmission. I must say Mark and Owen were very professional and upfront with us what to expect and genuinely concerned for us in the situation we were in. I felt very at ease knowing they were doing the repairs to rebuild our transmission the way it should have been done from the beginning. THANK YOU, THANK YOU Mark and Owen I can't thank you enough for your honesty, professionalism and kindness. Gina Proctor and Wilfred Letourneau

I had been calling around to find out what a Transmission service would cost for my 1996 Dodge Ram 2500 with only 51K miles on her - the prices I was getting from a local dealership and a few other auto repair shops were about double to what it said it should cost per another google search. Tony was spot on. I had called him up and he gave me a quote over the phone, said he could do it the next morning, so away I went - he said it'd take a few hours and that was about right when I got the call 2.5 hours later that the truck was done. He replaced the fluids in the tranny along with the filter, checked the bands, did an engine oil change gratis with the filter and oil I supplied. He is a man of his word, a good communicator and an absolute pleasure to do business with. So in my departing he relayed his findings and observations, and had a list of a few recommendations of things that should be addressed in the future that they found while working on the truck to keep it in top shape, he was wonderful in the way that he explained everything in detail making it easy to understand. It's a small shop - albeit he specializes in transmission's he does it all. Couldn't be happier with the service, definitely recommend them.

After informing me that my auto transmission had "massive issues" and needed to be rebuilt, I told him I wasn't about to spend thousands of dollars on it. I told him to replace the fluid and I would come and get it. He was very confrontational and told me that was a waste of money. He pushed me to have it rebuilt even though I told him several days earlier that I was only prepared to spend $200 on the servicing. This transmission has a very minor delay first thing in the morning. All I wanted was to have the fluids topped off. This guy then replaces the fluid with regular AT fluid and tells me he does it all the time. He told me that VW has falsely scared owners into using "their stuff". Wow, was I confused. So I called VW and they informed me that "under no circumstances" should I use regular ATF. VW told me that the 2 are not compatible and that I would end up doing more damage. So this PDS guy tells me it needs the special fluid but then changes his mind 3 days later and tells me he uses the regular ATF all the time. Crazy! This outfit comes across as very shady and crooked. The manager (owner?) Pat even gave me crap because he thought I was late for my appointment. He told me he had to bump me as I was late for my 8:30am appointment. Well Pat, the appointment was scheduled for 9am and I arrived at 9:05am to find you were not even there. I stood in the reception for 19 minutes (until 9:24 if you can't add) waiting for you to roll in. Your staff didn't even have the courtesy to acknowledge me there and then I got scolded for "being late" and getting "bumped". This outfit is a scam and I will not be surprised when the doors close. Poor management/ownership and staff with no class or courtesy. Save your money, sanity and vehicle; Go anywhere else! My Jetta is now at the local VW dealer getting the proper attention now. What a world of difference! I'm just sorry I didn't take it there in the first place.

Be honest: how many mechanics have you dealt with who actually aim to reduce the cost of the service?! Alex did!! My old '99 Voyager was acting wonky; it would start but then some components would work while others wouldn't.. one day the windows operated, but the wipers or heater fan wouldn't; the next day NONE of them worked; the next day they all worked fine.. and so on and so on Got a brand new top-of-the-line Napa battery.. didn't help .. so then I had the alternator tested by 3 different places who all said it had a bad diode, so I reached out to a few companies here, got quotes, and Armstrong's was the most reasonable price (plus nearby my place) so I brought the Voyager in, crossing my fingers that some unknown -expensive- additional work wouldn't be urged on me, as I've frequently experienced with other repairs Long story short, Alex told me it actually wasn't the alternator being bad, it was the ignition switch, and I gotta be honest and say I was hugely skeptical because the other companies had advised me to get a new alternator, why would they recommend it if it wasn't the problem? ...but I decided to trust Alex, and the repair cost was literally HALF the cost of replacing the alternator (which was already a very reasonable price!) But this morning was the iron test: would everything work like it did when I picked up my vehicle? IT SURE DID --the wipers, the windows, the heater fan ALL WORKED AT THE SAME TIME!! That hasn't happened in forever! LOL This review is getting long but I wanted to share the deets because frankly, given the symptoms, the tests AND my belief in the test results... Alex could have very easily done the cheaper ignition repair but said nothing and charged for the more expensive alternator replacement that I was asking for -and I wouldn't have known the difference and would've just been happy to have things working- but he was honest and upfront and didn't take advantage of my ignorance.. like other shops around here have done or tried to do to me in the past How awesome is THAT?! So believe me when I say that everyone reading this who might be searching for a mechanic they can trust as much as they'd trust a friend to do the work (if they had the skills) .....look no further This is a good person who does good work! ~~listen to Grandma, now~~

I noticed when I picked the truck up that the water and fuel light was on and I thought that was a strange coincidence. Over the years this light has come on two or three times after a car wash, and it's an easy fix to clean out the water in the sensor connection. I did that and even replaced the sensor in the rear fuel water separator. The light was still on, even though the fuel looked clean, so I ended up taking it to a shop in Oak Harbor before driving to the Tetons, as that light was bothering me. It turns out the technician at Barrett had inadvertently pinched some wires that ran along the crossmember below the transmission mount when he reattached the cross number. Thus the cause of the water and fuel light. Barrett was extremely honorable and covered the cost of those wire repairs, and the shops diagnostic fee. So the only thing I was out was the cost of a water and fuel sensor and time. At the time of this post, the truck has nearly 832,000 miles as I just did a trip to Teton Valley and back to Washington and the transmission ran beautifully. The service work the technician did was otherwise perfect and this type of mistake could happen to anyone, so I do not fault Barrett and I would gladly use them again and intend to. The fact that they honored this situation without question is an indication of a shop that has integrity.

Mark assured me that they'll take an assessment of the issue and get back to me before doing any work. Later in the day I received a phone call from Mark. He shared with me the red fluid was not tranny fluid, however, the specialized coolant my duramax requires. He went on to describe that all fluid levels were appropriate and the tranny and transfer case were in fine shape. Despite feeling a bit embarrassed about not differentiating the difference between the tranny vs coolant fluids, I was extremely grateful that they did not take advantage of me and, instead, went on to show me where the issued was. Such honesty goes a long way these days. Based upon numerous recommendations from mechanics I trust and respect, and Barrett transmission's honesty (and the time they took to further investigate and show me the issue)., I'll be back with any transmission issues or maintenance needs that I might have. I am a DIY mechanic to a point, change the oil, transmission service, can replace spark plugs, etc. I reached out on Yelp for help and Abbotsford Mobile, along with one other local shop responded. Lights were a bulb issue, fixed, 12v charger, the plug in port was wonky, replaced it and fixed it. Airbag code issue has not been resolved but I have been given some safe and basic troubleshoot advice from Kaden. If I can't solve the problem I'll be bringing it to Kaden and crew immediately. I am a GC and offer "free advice" always, I believe it is the right thing to do for people capable of and willing to try, to repair or fix things around their home. I will be driving to Abbotsford soon if I can't solve this airbag code issue. Their rates are far below any shop locally, as much as I want to support local shops, to be told $135/hr for a diagnostic without any idea on how long it may take is crazy to me. I deal with unseen dry rot issues all the time and give a best estimate of the area of damage and how long it will take, and I am most always spot on. I have yet to receive the type os attention and concern for my problem prior to bringing my car in as I have received with Abbotsford Mobile Mechanics. I highly recommend Kaden and Abbotsford Mobile Mechanics. Thanks Kaden, George F.

Half way through the installation I became concerned when both Kaden and his brother started looking on YouTube for solutions to why things were going sideways. Then to make things worse, they broke one of the calipers that did not need to be replaced. Now a $500 MB replacement part is required. They also could not release the brake piston on the other rotor so now I have a car that can't be moved. They promissed to make it right and to return the next day with the replacement caliper and learn how to release the other brake piston. Well another lie. Not only did they not return the next day, Kaden also did not return my text messages asking for the status, and actually hung up on me when calling him direct. Run and hide tactic. So now I am left with a set of useless brake pads and rotors that I had purchased for AMM to use with the installation, a broken caliper $$, a tow truck cost to another dealer, a car I can't drive for 3 days because it's the weekend and a full dealer charge to fix my brakes. Again $$$$ To say I am frustrated is putting it mildly. I was happy to pay Kaden and AMM for the promissed service, but to be lied to and then to be left alone to correct their mistakes is the worse. Lesson learned and never again. Be aware.
