The truck went 193 miles before the transmission seized. From what I know now I'm so thankful it was not towed back to the shop we had the transmission repaired and it ended up in the hands of Mark and Owen at L&D transmission. I must say Mark and Owen were very professional and upfront with us what to expect and genuinely concerned for us in the situation we were in. I felt very at ease knowing they were doing the repairs to rebuild our transmission the way it should have been done from the beginning. THANK YOU, THANK YOU Mark and Owen I can't thank you enough for your honesty, professionalism and kindness. Gina Proctor and Wilfred Letourneau

I was referred to Barrett by another local shop that spoke very highly of them, and I see why! From first contact, Mark was incredibly kind, helpful, and knowledgeable. He guided me through the diagnostic and repair process with ease. I was floored by how quickly they were able to find and correct the underlying thermal bypass issue. They connected directly with the previous technician that worked on my car to gain repair insight, pool resources, and solve my transmission issue within just a couple days! I was impressed by their level of expertise, professionalism, and care to help me get back on the road quickly. Repair technician Brad broke down what happened for me in a way that I could understand and clarified next steps. Barrett Transmission was fantastic to work with. They offered direct communication, went above and beyond to quickly diagnose issues, and gave an accurate repair timeline. Barrett totally exceeded my expectations and provided excellent repair work. I highly recommend them for your transmission repair! Thanks for all of your help and insight, Mark and Brad!

I took my beloved 2017 Ram 3500 to Barrett based on reading their reviews. The truck had 830,000…read moremiles on it when they serviced the Aisin Transmission, which is the original and never rebuilt. I noticed when I picked the truck up that the water and fuel light was on and I thought that was a strange coincidence. Over the years this light has come on two or three times after a car wash, and it's an easy fix to clean out the water in the sensor connection. I did that and even replaced the sensor in the rear fuel water separator. The light was still on, even though the fuel looked clean, so I ended up taking it to a shop in Oak Harbor before driving to the Tetons, as that light was bothering me. It turns out the technician at Barrett had inadvertently pinched some wires that ran along the crossmember below the transmission mount when he reattached the cross number. Thus the cause of the water and fuel light. Barrett was extremely honorable and covered the cost of those wire repairs, and the shops diagnostic fee. So the only thing I was out was the cost of a water and fuel sensor and time. At the time of this post, the truck has nearly 832,000 miles as I just did a trip to Teton Valley and back to Washington and the transmission ran beautifully. The service work the technician did was otherwise perfect and this type of mistake could happen to anyone, so I do not fault Barrett and I would gladly use them again and intend to. The fact that they honored this situation without question is an indication of a shop that has integrity.

After he declined to answer my questions unless I gave him my name which I did, I asked to confirm his name and he rudely replied with 'doesnt matter...' along with plenty further poor communication elements. He needed to be reminded that 'WE' the customers pay his wages, NOT the company! Turns out he is the owner. Go figure. Perhaps some re-training in franchise quality standards on how to treat potential new customers with money to spend would certainly be in order. I will not be contributing to his wages and taking my head gasket replacement elsewhere where my money is more appreciated with a at least a welcome, and appropriate mannerism... for starters! As many competitors offer - you and your money... deserve better!

After informing me that my auto transmission had "massive issues" and needed to be rebuilt, I told him I wasn't about to spend thousands of dollars on it. I told him to replace the fluid and I would come and get it. He was very confrontational and told me that was a waste of money. He pushed me to have it rebuilt even though I told him several days earlier that I was only prepared to spend $200 on the servicing. This transmission has a very minor delay first thing in the morning. All I wanted was to have the fluids topped off. This guy then replaces the fluid with regular AT fluid and tells me he does it all the time. He told me that VW has falsely scared owners into using "their stuff". Wow, was I confused. So I called VW and they informed me that "under no circumstances" should I use regular ATF. VW told me that the 2 are not compatible and that I would end up doing more damage. So this PDS guy tells me it needs the special fluid but then changes his mind 3 days later and tells me he uses the regular ATF all the time. Crazy! This outfit comes across as very shady and crooked. The manager (owner?) Pat even gave me crap because he thought I was late for my appointment. He told me he had to bump me as I was late for my 8:30am appointment. Well Pat, the appointment was scheduled for 9am and I arrived at 9:05am to find you were not even there. I stood in the reception for 19 minutes (until 9:24 if you can't add) waiting for you to roll in. Your staff didn't even have the courtesy to acknowledge me there and then I got scolded for "being late" and getting "bumped". This outfit is a scam and I will not be surprised when the doors close. Poor management/ownership and staff with no class or courtesy. Save your money, sanity and vehicle; Go anywhere else! My Jetta is now at the local VW dealer getting the proper attention now. What a world of difference! I'm just sorry I didn't take it there in the first place.
