We ordered the sisig and the pork liempo. The sisig needs rice to pair nicely. And make sure u ask for hot sauce. The sisig has really nice texture balance. The taste is fatty enough to keep eating more without tiring out. The pork liempo in my opinion was way to fatty. The peices of meat near the bone was the winner. A great Filipino restaurant located on the edge of Chinatown. I had the pinakbet and it was so good! It was mainly vegetables with a few pieces of shrimp thrown in for good measure. In addition to the shrimp, it had green beans, a few onions, a couple tomato pieces, okra (I just realized I'm a fan of okra - couldn't stand it when I was a kid), and some sort of squash. The squash was in large chunks and was a bit on the hard side (but not bad - just describing it). I couldn't figure out what it was so I asked one of the servers and she didn't know what it was - just some sort of squash she said. All I can tell you is, it was good! The entrees are quite large and meant to be shared family style. The interior of this place is really nice. From the flooring to the walls, you can tell they have put a lot of money into it. So as group collectively, we ordered just about anything we were accustomed to eating and we shared collectively aka Group Feast. - Adobong Spinach (5/5): First time I've had this, so good - Pancit Palabok (5/5): Definitely tasted authentic - Crispy Pata (fried pork knuckle: 5/5): It's been ages since I've had this, and I am so glad I ordered it. Winner, winner. - Pork BBQ Sticks (5/5): Authentic and not fatty by any means - Inihaw Na Pusit (fried squid: 5/5): Another homerun, tasted wonderful - Tortang Talong (eggplant omellete: 5/5): Tasted like how all - Eggplant Omelette is cooked - Bangus "Milkfish" Sisig (5/5): Really, really, tasty dish - Adobo Rice (5/5) & Bistek Pinoy (4/5): Nice & Flavorful - Tokwa Tokwa (fried tofu: 3/5): It's hard to elevate the taste of Tofu, especially being fried, so I cannot give it any better rating past 3 stars - Chicharon Bulaklak (deep fried pork intestines: 3/5): I was hoping it would taste more on the crunchy side being fried, but it was more fatty in my opinion - The Calamares (3/5) and Lumpia (3/5) were just average in my opinion. Was super excited about finding out this was in Houston. However it seems I'll be sticking to the location in Artesia when I'm in town. We ordered the sisig, kare kare, and Lechon Kawali. It was all good food and the ambience was fun and hip. However, what ruined our evening was the speaker volume for the live band. It was louder than a metal concert. I couldn't hear my group talking nor the server our whole visit. The only time we had to talk to each other is the few moments before the band plays their next song. Who ever controls the volume must know that this is an issue. TLDR: Clean restaurant! Great food! Skip the live band hours if you want to talk to your group or value your hearing. read more

Was pleasantly surprised by this place we stumbled upon next to our hotel. Was even more stoked when I realized it was a Filipino restaurant. Having moved out here from San Francisco, we missed having Filipino so this place hit just the spot. We had lumpia, pancit pelobok, leaching kawali and Sisig. The pancit and sisig stood out as my favorites. They were generous serving sizes, so had plenty to take home with us. It does close at 8 on the weekdays so make sure to come early. It was already last call when we arrived at 7:30. We'll definitely be back next time we stay in the area. read more

In the location of the previous restaurant, Akasaka. Ordered way too much food for two people (2/5): SIZZLING PORK SISIG: One of their signature dishes, for the price I did not think it was worth it. Very salty and for people know what Sisig is it pig jowls, ear, and liver. Not particularly my favorite parts of the pig. The crunchy bits were offputting for me. (3/5): GRILLED SQUID: The outside char flavor was good, a little on the sweet side, however, the inside felt a little uncooked to me. Good portion for the price but did not reheat well as leftovers. (4/5): PANCIT PALABOK: I'm a fan of most noodle dishes that have the thin rice vermicelli noodles. Wished there was a little more meat. (4/5): ADOBO RICE: Great flavor but plain. It's pretty much just the cubes of adobo beef and rice For the size of the restaurant, they should really increase the number of servers. Our waitress was nice but it took awhile for someone to come greet us and get our order. We sat there for 5-10 minutes. We can see the servers are pretty busy so we tried to be patient. This place is super cute and super trendy inside which really wow'ed us when we walked in. We were seated immediately but there were a lot of tables already seated inside. From the decor, it seemed like this place was more upscale, and indeed the prices reflected that. Our waitress was very quick and attentive during our visit. I got the pork liempo, which was delicious and super moist. It went well with the garlic rice that we ordered. My bf got the pork sisig, which he loves and I now love too LOL. It's crispy, fatty, and chewy, which is similar to viet heo quay, if you know what I'm talking about. This we loved the most paired with our garlic rice. My bf also got the chicken wings as an appetizer, thinking it would come out first. However, it came out after our entrees, so that was kind of confusing. The wings were fried and came with ketchup as dip. Interesting combo, but my bf and I both agreed that nothing made the wings really stand out. If I had to rate our dishes, I would highly recommend the sisig, then the pork liempo. The wings we wouldn't recommend. Whew, extremely overpriced, old tofu that tasted like fish, bad adobo pork/chicken sauce, soup was lifeless, plain rice DOES NOT come with any dish and is $2.50. Wtf!! Went on a night of bad, messy sound audio and annoying political mess that nobody wants to hear when they're eating. It was very hard to relax and didn't even stay for dessert. We went a few months ago and there was a big party in the party room. We got our drinks waited a while for our order to be taken, then waited for our food. It was 30 minutes later, then 45 minutes and they just kept serving the party room. No one said anything about the delay. We asked for the bill for our drinks and were ready to leave when the manager said our food was ready. Needless to say, we took it to go and don't plan on going back. Gerry's prices are more than you're typical usual Filipino restaurant as this is more of a sit down and serve, rather than a buffet or a smorgasbord where you select/on the go. We ordered: Lumpia - Excellent! A must get. Good portion to share with the table. Pork bbq sticks - Excellent! Taste was great. Pork Liempo - was good, basically like a grilled pork chop, portion to share was good. Lechon Kawali - was just ok. The meat itself was kind of hard. Although it was crispy. Luckily they had mang-tomas sauce. Garlic rice - A++ Overall I enjoyed my meal.
