My elderly parents' central air unit quit right in the middle of our swampy philly summer, so I was looking for one of two specific highly rated LG window air conditioners. Every place I checked was out of stock on both, or you were going to have to wait a week to 10 days for one to be shipped. No good. I phoned Gerhard's after a google search, and they got me the one I wanted, brand new, in less than 24 hours for a price that matched or beat every other local place I checked, including Walmart and Lowe's (both out of stock, too). Service was friendly, efficient and relaxed and the people were nice. I'll be back again when it's time to replace the next household appliance. read more

Two months ago I would have rated them a 5 because I bought several appliances--dishwasher, stove, etc.--and always had great service. HOWEVER, be warned that they do not stand behind their products. I recently bought a washer-dryer set. The dryer never worked. They came and replaced the circuit board. Still didn't work. They said we needed to check our electricity. We did. All fine. They said they needed to contact the company (LG) and that the company needed THREE VISITS before they would replace it! We are now FIVE WEEKS without a dryer, and they are telling us we have to wait for the company (LG). All of our requests for just sending a replacement for the lemon have gone unheeded. When we call Gerhard's, they just shrug. When we call the company, they either don't get back to us or set up a call and then don't class. THIS IS RIDICULOUS. We thought Gerhard's was a reputable, reliable, and honest company. IT IS NOT. Everything is fine until there is a problem. THEY DO NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS. read more

We loved Gerhard's when we bought all our appliances from them in 2011. What happened to this company? Since then, all our interaction had been lukewarm at best. I was supposed to get a dishwasher installed today. Once they unwrapped it, it was damaged, I was told. No idea how it was not obvious from the packaging, or when it was damaged. So now I need to wait for another delivery date. Also was told to call a plumber to fix the water line. Had to ask what exactly needs to be done. Which appears can be remedied with a $10 fitting. Delivery person was not kind, or polite. Given the age of the appliances, there will be more that need replacing in the next few years. Gerhard's will not be my choice for it. Sad to see a formerly good company go downhill like this. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. I'm absolutely appalled by the shady and deliberately complicated rebate process at Gerhard's Appliances. What started as a simple appliance purchase turned into an infuriating, drawn-out mess. The rebate they advertised was clearly used as bait to close the sale--but once you've paid, good luck ever seeing that money. The process was confusing, filled with fine print and hoops to jump through. After following every step (twice), I was told I missed a "deadline" that was never clearly communicated to begin with. Convenient. I reached out to customer service thinking this had to be a misunderstanding, but I was met with indifference and robotic responses that basically said, "not our problem." It's painfully clear that once they have your money, they couldn't care less about you. The lack of transparency, accountability, and basic customer care is beyond frustrating. I've dealt with many appliance stores over the years, and this was by far the worst experience I've ever had. Avoid this place unless you enjoy being misled, ignored, and ripped off. read more

I've purchased appliances from Gerhards many times and this last time will be the last. I've done a few renovations and they are constantly hit or miss with both product and service and the place is more of a churn / burn than a place where you can buy appliances for your home and know that what you're getting is quality AND mostly that anyone will stand behind it. I bought "new" appliances at a warehouse sale for a renovation - not scratch and dent. High end range, dishwasher, beverage center, washer, dryer, fridge, etc... The only thing that came undamaged was the range and that was b/c they messed up and sent one from the factory instead of the store. Fridge, dented and nothing done. Dishwasher, dented and they replaced the cover, washer looked as if it was in a car accident, nothing done, dryer, dented and doesn't work. I had months. of back and forth, and was offered roughly $200 back on a $14K order....They are the worst. They have some good people and they certainly try. I liked my sales people and they at least responded, but I think it's a corporate culture to simply reply with "we're escalating this and will work on it we just need you to get us a little more information" and then not do anything. I believe they actually pride themselves on being the worst, they are looking to move volume and not take care of individuals and if you buy from them and have any problems, it's 100% on you. If you by from Gerhards and have an issue, you it's on you and you should expect the runaround and them doing everything they can to get rid of you and hope you forget. At the end of this, I simply told them I'm happy paying way more at even Home Depot for the same model b/c at least Depot will take it back. read more

I shortly received a call back from Jordan. He explained the details clearly, and I purchased the microwave with delivery and installation in four days. The refrigerator we purchased is great. However the installation was terrible. I gave the sales person the opening the frig had to fit into. He said no problem. It's too tight to slide all the way in. The solution was to cut our kitchen cabinets or get a smaller frig. There was no offer to come out and look at it. They basically said it's my problem not theirs and put us off. Meanwhile our frig sticks out in kitchen until I come up with solution. I'll never go to Gerhard's again. read more

Date I purchased my washer: January 15 Date washer was delivered: January 18 Date I actually had a working washer that I could use: February 2 We bought a washing machine from Gerhard's. Their "scratch and dent" warehouse was recommended to me and Speed Queen washers came highly recommended to me. We found a dented Speed Queen washer for less than $1,000 and decided to get it. The store experience was pretty quick and easy. A delivery date was available three days later. Great! Little did I know, the saga was just beginning. The washer was delivered on the scheduled date. When the delivery man looked at our washer hookup, he realized we had some corrosion on our pipes/valves. At first he said he had a replacement part and he could sell it to me  "on the side", but then he realized that he could not get the old one to budge and didn't want to "force it." He then said they could use the old hose, but I'd have to sign some waiver saying they were using an old hose. Cue me calling my husband at work (I'm not handy and am no washer or plumbing expert) and the delivery man calling the warehouse, during which call he spoke a language I don't speak. We came to the conclusion that we would get a plumber and have the pipes and valves replaced. We had an excellent plumber come out to complete the work (will write separate review for him) and he hooked up the washer to make sure water was working and such. Work completed. Later that day, I decided to....do my first load in my new washer! Except....it wouldn't start. I read the quick start guide, tried to figure things out. Nothing worked. Asked my husband to take a look when he got home from work. He said it seemed like the lid wasn't catching. He got it to close and the washer started filling up with water. But then it just kind of stopped and wouldn't do anything. The lid was locked and even while holding the button "for three seconds to cancel", the lid wouldn't unlock. I am now finally thinking "hmmm maybe however this washer got the dent, it damaged the latch too." Hindsight is 20/20, right? Me, being foolish and naïve I guess, thought that the "scratched and dented" appliance would be tested before being sold to unsuspecting customers. *SPOILER ALERT* They do not get "tested" at the store. Because they don't have "water hookups" and that would "become a liability issue." I tried calling Gerhard's, but it was after hours and I couldn't even get to a voicemail. So I responded to an e-mail from Gerhard's that I had in my inbox. I did get a response that I saw early the next morning saying that they were also copying the service team on my request. I had included my phone number, but never got a call. I had a doctor's appointment that day that happened to be fairly close to Gerhard's (Northeast Philly location, Grant & Roosevelt Boulevard) so I decided to stop in. The sales person had a very "that's not my job" attitude and said I'd have to call the service department. Which I did....from their store. Thankfully, for Gerhard's sake, there were no other customers in the store at the time, or upon hearing me and my near mental breakdown that ensued, I may have been escorted out. The "service department" is a third party. She was asking for things like a proof of purchase and that "the salesperson should have uploaded it" so then I put the phone on speaker to allow the service dispatcher and salesperson to hash it out. Meanwhile the sales guy is calling his service department or liaison. The next available service date was a full week away. I accepted that, just for the sake of getting a "job number", and then he told me he'd "bump me up." Why can't I be seen as urgent to begin with if I just bought a washing machine and can't even successfully complete one load?! A technician did come out later that day, but parts had to be ordered. He said they don't carry parts on their trucks and parts aren't universal. But when the parts come in, I was to call the service department to schedule my next service call. I called and e-mailed Gerhard's to follow up and just to try to get an estimate of when I could expect the parts or try to get tracking numbers on them. Three days later, I finally received word via e-mail that the parts had shipped. And then I received them a few hours later. So that was either the world's fastest shipping or someone forgot to tell me on the day that they actually shipped. A service appointment was scheduled for Monday, three days later. That morning I got a call that the technician had called out sick and would have to reschedule. The thought happened to cross my mind that it was the day after the Eagles won the NFC Championship, but if that was related or it was legitimate sickness, we'll never know. I was too tired to fight at that point. We rescheduled for a few days later. The technician came on the scheduled date, during the scheduled time frame, and was able to complete the repair and fix the latch. I then successfully did a load of laundry! read more

Amazing! I was trying to replace a fridge and knew about what I wanted. Went to big box stores w no service, no help, no knowledge. I looked online and couldn't sort through to even find options. Walked into Gerhards, Jason listened to me, showed me options that fit, explained things including one online - and he could show me similar model on floor so I could get an idea of it. Had floor models that were deeply discounted if that's your thing. We ordered a new one but prices were still comparable or better than box stores! Decision in 15 minutes. Jason made it so easy. This is the second refrigerator I have bought from them. This was for my In law's. For the first refrigerator we went to the store on Grant and the boulevard. The sales person helped us, listened to our needs and showed the options that best fit our need. For the second one, I did my research online. But called to check with a sales person in store about the product. The questions were answered, my in-laws were happy with the refrigerator and over the phone transaction was made along with the appointment for delivery. I ordered a new microwave oven today and called in for my order and it was promptly filled by Edward Ferguson and had exceptional service and will be getting it on Wednesday July 5th. Any questions I had were answered as well. I ordered from Gerhard's because originally I ordered a new range and also had great service, delivery and setup in January of this year, because of recommendations of friends and glad that I did. I ordered a $3000 dollar refrigerator and they sent me the wrong one, the next attempt the "boxed" unit was damaged in the right front corner. The box was already cut and loose on the unit when they opened the truck door. The third attempt the wanted to deliver the unit 2 hours past the window set time which was about 9 pm. They would have had to take the doors off the unit in the dark outside in the rain. I was locked in house for three days missing work and other plans. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE! Bought a kitchen package for my new home. Price was great however everything else was poorly handled. Took forever to place the order in the store, not sure if my sales person was new or not. Delivery driver never called prior to or even after arriving (thankfully contractors were able to let them in). Salesperson did not document my needs with the driver/deliverer, only wanted 2 items hauled away. Driver/deliverer took my barely used old appliances and when I called to get it back that evening I went straight to voicemail. Unable to hear back from management for 2 days and I end up losing out, "we'll jus call it a loss because you didn't pay for the install." And lastly I couldn't get my rebate because delivery never gave me the item numbers from the appliances prior to install. Would not recommend read more

We bought an appliance package in 2018. We were sold all these warranties ( you won't have to worry about anything for 5 to 10 years) we were told. A year and a half later the ice maker stops working on the fridge They say we have to reach out to the warranty company. Since then we had 15 repair guys to the house and every time a new problem developed with the fridge and then the fridge stopped completely in august. The warranty company is giving us the run around and we go to Gerhard's to see what they can do they said they can't do anything they switched warranty companies so they have no control. He said he could sell us a new fridge for $2200. Horrible customer service. They don't stand behind their warranty. Avoid at all cost. Better off going to Lowe's at least they resolve your issues they don't pass the problem to someone else and try to sell you warranty's that aren't worth anything. read more

Awful service. Told me my oven was in after spending 6,000 on appliances than kept telling me next week for three weeks. When they came to hook up my dryer they left a gas leak that almost blew up my home. No help at all with anything . Do not waste your time with this company. Majority of there item are defective and their service department is the worst. I purchase a refrigerator and washer from Gerhard, the delivery was quick but delivery guys dropped both items off without property connecting or setting up. After my husband connected them we noticed the washer isn't working. It's been over two weeks now and I'm still stuck with this washer and as yet to be giving a resolution!! They are fraudulent, they don't honor thier contracts. Sold my Mother a defective washer and refuses to refund her money even though thier technician came out and confirmed it was defective. Sent my review to the BBB still awaiting a response from GERHARDS. They never answer the phones and when they do they give us the complete runaround. They are the most unprofessional people I have ever spent my money with. We ( the customers) all need to get together and start a class action suite against them. Horrible Customer Service and Delivery - After shopping all of the major appliance stores, I decided to buy from Gerhards based on price and what seemed to be a knowledgeable sales associate. I was shopping for a refrigerator, washer and dryer. While trying to finalize the sales the sales associate "forgot to call or email me" with the additional information and pricing I requested during my in store visit. This should have been my first indication. We completed our sale via phone and he promised to email a receipt and mail a hard-copy receipt - neither of which I have received to date. The morning of delivery (deliver window being 9-1), I received a call that they "Forgot to load my appliances to the truck and they wouldn't be delivering". NO attempt was made to reconcile this and I had to wait an extra day and sit for another 9-1 time frame for my delivery. Upon contacting my sales associate immediately - he promised to call me back with a response from the store manager and request a specific delivery time frame for another day. After 2 hrs of not receiving a call back - I again called the store and he said "well they aren't real fast with addressing these issues" and that the warehouse confirmed they just forgot my order. It has been 3 days now and I still have received no response from my sales associate or store. Mistakes happen but it is how the situation is reconciled that can change and impact the outcome. Gerhard's made no attempt to reconcile the situation or even provide me with a call back to address my concerns and frustrations. They followed through with NONE of the customer service they promised and sold at my in store visit. I would not recommend shopping here and am sorry I didn't choose another appliance provider. read more

I would recommend Gerhard's to my family and friends. Salesman was informative and non pressure. Delivery men set up quickly. The only negative I have is that free delivery is advertised. Actually you have to pay for delivery at point of sale and then request a rebate. I don't like that. If you're offering free delivery, then don't charge for delivery. Period. They're betting on lazy people not taking the time to send out a rebate form. Kind of shady to me. But still cant complain about the service from beginning to end. They have appliances to fit all budgets. For what I was prepared to pay for a no frills type washer and dryer elsewhere. I actually paid for a very nice set with lots of bells and whistles. This review is for the delivery guys. They showed up on time. They were very professional, clean and quickly did there job. The sales team was ok too. The only problem was the top door hinge covers were missing and I'm waiting for the service department to take care that. If they do it in a timely manner I would rate my experience a 5 all around. The worst customer service experience that I've ever had. Go anywhere, but here. We spent several thousand dollars on a new kitchen package (refrigerator, oven, microwave and dishwasher). The dishwasher was dented when it was unpacked. At that point, they requested service to replace the front panel. When the service tech came to replace the panel, he attempted to run it and it failed. We then had to schedule another service tech call. This oen could not figure out the problem and simply had me reset the circuit breaker several times to try to reboot the system. The error code cleared. He left with it in a wash cycle to test it. It failed before the end of the wash. This led to another service call, where the tech could not fix the problem and had to call frigidaire. At this point, we have yet another service call schedule. The company refuses to admit that they sold us a bad unit. They should replace it. It NEVER worked. Gerhard's and Frigidare dropped the ball on this one. Stay away, far away from this company. read more

We recently purchased a home for which we needed new kitchen & laundry appliances. Our purchase experience with our salesman, Anthony White, was very positive. We had purchased high end appliances: Subzero refrigerator, Wolf range, Miele etc about which he was very knowledgeable. He always made himself available to address any questions our contractors, cabinet folks had and was always personable yet professional. The problem arose when it came to the delivery and install phase. We knew that there was a delivery fee, which we had paid when finalizing the purchase. However, 2 items ended up being on backorder that couldn't be delivered with the others. A few weeks later, when Delivery contacted us that they were available, she informed me that we had an outstanding balance for the delivery of the remaining items and for the Subzero to be placed in the house. This seemed unreasonable since we did not need to have the initial items delivered at the time they were, due to the remodel. We were also aware that a third party, a certified Subzero installer, was needed to install the Subzero refrigerator to maintain manufacturer's warranty. Gerhard's scheduling informed us that this would be an additional charge of $175 paid directly to the installer. (Our contractors were installing all the other appliances.) There seemed to be miscommunication between the delivery team and the installer in scheduling, which resulted in a 2-day delay in getting the refrigerator installed. Once done, Tim, the installer, simply said he was done - did not go over anything with me. I asked about special cleaners for the refrigerator and he said to get Subzero Stainless Steel cleaner etc. When I gave him the check for $175, he said that the charge was $250. I told him that Gerhard's had said it was $175. He responded with, "My dad told me to charge $250. It's usually between $250 and $300." I paid him and he left - he did not even clean off all the fingerprints on the appliance from the install. For such a high end appliance, I was very disappointed with the poorP service received. Gerhards is ultimately responsible for ensuring quality service from start to finish. Misleading customers on delivery and installation charges is unprofessional and unethical. Being charged 2 delivery fees due to backordered items, misquoting installation charges, and the poor service of their third-party installer on a high end appliance resulted in an overall negative experience, unfortunately. read more

I am only writing this because I can't get anyone at the company to listen or respond to me. I even called another location and got nothing but an attitude. Long story short, they delivered my fridge, wound up flooding my kitchen when disconnecting the old one because they didn't know what they were doing, and left my disabled mother alone to deal with it. The delivery drivers literally just left- front door wide open, truck gone, water pouring into the kitchen, and the fridge still plugged into the wall. It has been over a week, and I'm still trying to find someone to speak to about the mess and compensation. I have had to initiate every single call. No one has made me or this incident a priority, shown any effort to reach out and see how they can rectify the situation and at one point it was even implied my disabled mother pulled the refrigerator out by herself causing the flood. My mistake was not taking these reviews seriously, I thought, "how bad could their customer service really be...?". It's bad ... don't make my mistake. read more

I purchased a dishwasher Tuesday and the first question I asked the salesman was, do you remove and install. His answer was yes. The dishwasher was delivered today and the men from Just Install did a great job. However, when he was leaving, he handed me a bill for $150.00. I explained that installation was included and he said it wasn't. When I looked at my receipt it listed the price of the item, the price of the warranty and $0.00 for the price of installation. However in small print underneath it said $150.00 to be paid to installer. At no time during my visit did the sales person or the girl who wrote up the order ever mention additional cost to install. I was with a friend and she verified they never mentioned an additional charge. When I called the store I spoke with the salesperson who waited on me and he said he did, which is a lie!!!
