    First Responders Bowl 2020
    Al P.

Came to the First Responders Bowl at the end of the 2020 season so there were a lot of social distancing measures in place. It's hard to say what the concessions situation would be like on a normal game day but for this game it was adequate. Parking was easy to find and the stadium itself was large enough for college football but small enough to make just about every seat a good one.

I went to the game at the stadium and it might have been the worst stadium I've been to. To buy a beer I waited over 45 minutes and it was cash only. You'd think people supported by daddy's money would only have cards to buy anything. Not only that, they have one screen and unless you have a magnifying glass or are directly next to it you won't see anything. All of the stands are bleachers so they will singe your skin if you don't maintain direct contact from 9am to 5pm. Overall, this stadium reeks of losers and low quality blow. Would not recommend unless you are into daddy's money and failure. For those that are rating this stadium a 5 star, this must be the first stadium you've ever been to. Concessions are below average and you have to embark on a quest to get beer. The environment in the crowd is so lackluster that any opposing team owns the stadium. #ponydown

Great venue for football, lacrosse, soccer, and graduation. Built in 1999, it's in good shape and is well taken care of. A manageable size to get around - no scary high upper stands like some other stadiums. There is a grassy hill in one end zone that kids can roll down. Also, after most home games, fans are allowed down on the field to congratulate the players and toss a ball around.

This was Dirk Nowitzky's 21st season and he had recently passed Wilt Chamberlain for 5th all time high scorer. I'm glad we decided to watch the Mavericks since the Rangers lost by over ten runs to the Cubs. The game was almost completely sold out when we bought tickets at the Box Office (about 6 hours before game time on game day). We bought two tickets in different sections for $68 total ($34 each). I was thinking we could sit together anyway and I turned out to be correct. We killed the six hours at a nearby bar called the Happiest Hour which had terrible service and ignored my appeals to change the television to the March Madness game I wanted to watch. The arena is very clean and there isn't a bad view anywhere. Dirk only played briefly during the first quarter but was able to score a few times. He seemed hurt and stretched a lot while on the bench. Luka Doncic scored at will and is definitely a rising star. The Mavericks were already out of playoff contention, but they played hard. They lost to the Kings, 125-121, but it was a fun game to watch. This arena is in a good section of Dallas and the traffic after the game wasn't too bad. Overall, not a bad place to watch an NBA game.

With a seating capacity of 13,000, this is truly a Texas-Sized venue. It is perfect for high school football playoffs, which was exactly why I was here. When I pulled up to the stadium I was blown away by its size. I was also very impressed by the availability of parking. The design of the lot really made there not be a bad spot in the lot, and there was ample room for the plethora of busses that that it takes for schools to take their shows on the road. Other great amenities that this place has is modern and bright lighting, decent concession and restroom options, and great views of the field from all over the stadium. The one downfall I noticed was there are a LOT of stairs, and that can be troublesome for some attendees. For example, the people sitting next to me left their elderly parents on the lower level where there was not as good of a view in order to get a better view for themselves. Overall though, this is a very good venue, despite this inconvenience.

Home of the Frisco RoughRiders, this place was clean, easy to navigate, and genuinely fun from start to finish. Parking was a breeze, entry into the ballpark was quick and painless, and there were plenty of giveaways and activities happening throughout the evening. Sadly, I did not get my big Jumbotron moment this time around (heartbreaking, honestly) but I still had a great time with friends old and new walking around the ballpark before the game and during innings taking in the atmosphere, even if we didn't get to go into the lazy river! The game was, a baseball game - "Yay, Baseball!" The RoughRiders ended up winning which didn't hurt the experience :) One thing I was slightly confused by was the timing of the Friday night post-game fireworks. I assumed they'd begin shortly after the final out but there was a long delay while families and attendees were allowed onto the field. By the time the fireworks finally started, we had already started heading out and only caught a few bursts from the parking lot. Not a huge deal, but something to keep in mind if fireworks are a big part of your evening plans. Also worth mentioning: the gift shop had some fantastic merchandise, especially shirts featuring my favorite president. Prices were definitely steep though - but wow I was tempted! I believe one of my friends was persuaded to make a purchase, even if it was after the fact. All in all, Riders Field delivered exactly the kind of fun, relaxed baseball experience I remembered and was hoping for. Might I dare say, minor league baseball could be one of life's underrated joys ;)

Although they offered seating down low, it was constantly rotating on availability depending on the performers. If I wanted to find a seat, I could have. I mostly stood near the bar which wasn't too crowded since it was an all ages event. After standing there for about 2 hours, they did ask us to move to the end of the bar for potential customers .. there never really were more than 3 people ordering at a time, but we still moved. We got tall boy White Claws and it was the perfect sipper drink. The lighting and sound was good for the experience here and they had plenty of vantage points (including a VIP upper floor). Security wasn't bad, I didn't bring a bag, so I breezed through. There's a large parking structure right behind the TBF, so walking over was very easy too. We did initially have handicap people in our group who opted not to attend after we shared that the surrounding sidewalks were not very level and that the amount of people might be a little tricky for navigating with a walker. All in all though, I had a great time here!
