The renovation they did on this facility is a HUGE improvement. It still has a bit of a cold/grey look and feel but it's better than the previous dated look. There's plenty of bathrooms around every corner. There's also a pro shop at the front when you walk in. If you're there for an event during the summer, doors lock at 9. Be sure not to leave anything behind or you won't be able to get back in till 8am the next morning. During the summer they leave the parking garage next door open and free of charge!

Home of the SMU Mustangs basketball teams and women's volleyball team. Regularly nationally recognized, all three programs are a great opportunity to see student-athletes in action. The men's basketball games are regularly selling out with Larry Brown at the helm. Just check the SMU athletics website for details, tickets, and schedules. #PonyUp

Had a great time with friends at a SMU hoops game. Nice and small arena that puts you on top of the action. Definately a big thumbs up!

First off, the area surrounding the arena looked great, seemingly lively, easy to walk around, and filled with restaurants, bars, and pre-game activity. The arena itself looked pretty modern, clean, and fairly easy to navigate considering the size of the crowd. Entry into the venue was smooth, security moved efficiently, and there were plenty of food and drink options throughout the concourse. Even though our seats were up in the nosebleeds, we were around center ice and the views were solid. The atmosphere carried throughout the entire arena. Stars fans brought great energy and everyone around us was friendly and welcoming despite the mixed fan base in our section. I also somehow ended up getting an espresso martini at one of the arena bars which felt like peak modern sports arena luxury despite our "cheap seats" that weren't actually cheap! There were a couple negatives, though. At the end of the game, the escalators stopped working while everyone was trying to leave. Instead of simply allowing people to walk down them like stairs, crowds were rerouted elsewhere, which caused our group to get split up which was definitely not ideal in a packed arena. Also, the line for the women's restroom during the second intermission was so long that I truly almost peed my pants. Ladies, plan accordingly! That said, this marked only my fourth NHL arena visited so far so I still have a long way to go on my hockey arena journey, but the American Airlines Center made a strong impression. Clean, energetic, and an overall really fun game day atmosphere. I'd gladly come back for another Stars game or event in the future!

I know it sounds trite, but there is not really a bad seat in the house. While I used to have season tickets and sat in the same place, I gave them up a few years back and now buy game to packages in different areas. I say that to emphasize, the seats are really good wherever you sit. The stadium also has several amenities making it a great place. One notable one is that there is ample bathrooms for the crowds, thus you almost never see a line to get into them. There are several food and beverage concession areas too. This is one area they could improve...while they get people in and out quickly, the sodas from them are often watered down, the pretzels and popcorn etc sit out just a little too long, and the prices just a little too high. I paid $7 for a bottled water. There really is a huge opportunity for SMU to do better by their fans in this area. They have tried a little by having Mi Cocina run one of the stands and that is a marked improvement. Now they need to step up elsewhere! Review #2129

I also appreciate SMU for allowing their football stadium to be used for the first responders' bowl. Ok, now, for the opportunities, there was not nearly enough parking for everyone to park near the stadium. Additional parking was not clearly identified, so we had to keep asking people who worked there or who went to school about where we could park. We finally found a parking garage that was about 10 minutes away from the stadium walking. Once we got to the stadium. We went to 3 different gates before we got to the right gate. It would have been nice if the gates had been more clearly marked, but the staff was very helpful about getting us to the right gate eventually. Finally, I guess they did not consider how much alcohol college students drink, especially at Texas State and Rice because most of the alcohol besides beer was sold out by halftime, so that was a little disappointing. Again, overall, I had a blast, and I would definitely go to another game. But I have learned a lot of lessons for next time.

This was Dirk Nowitzky's 21st season and he had recently passed Wilt Chamberlain for 5th all time high scorer. I'm glad we decided to watch the Mavericks since the Rangers lost by over ten runs to the Cubs. The game was almost completely sold out when we bought tickets at the Box Office (about 6 hours before game time on game day). We bought two tickets in different sections for $68 total ($34 each). I was thinking we could sit together anyway and I turned out to be correct. We killed the six hours at a nearby bar called the Happiest Hour which had terrible service and ignored my appeals to change the television to the March Madness game I wanted to watch. The arena is very clean and there isn't a bad view anywhere. Dirk only played briefly during the first quarter but was able to score a few times. He seemed hurt and stretched a lot while on the bench. Luka Doncic scored at will and is definitely a rising star. The Mavericks were already out of playoff contention, but they played hard. They lost to the Kings, 125-121, but it was a fun game to watch. This arena is in a good section of Dallas and the traffic after the game wasn't too bad. Overall, not a bad place to watch an NBA game.

With a seating capacity of 13,000, this is truly a Texas-Sized venue. It is perfect for high school football playoffs, which was exactly why I was here. When I pulled up to the stadium I was blown away by its size. I was also very impressed by the availability of parking. The design of the lot really made there not be a bad spot in the lot, and there was ample room for the plethora of busses that that it takes for schools to take their shows on the road. Other great amenities that this place has is modern and bright lighting, decent concession and restroom options, and great views of the field from all over the stadium. The one downfall I noticed was there are a LOT of stairs, and that can be troublesome for some attendees. For example, the people sitting next to me left their elderly parents on the lower level where there was not as good of a view in order to get a better view for themselves. Overall though, this is a very good venue, despite this inconvenience.

Home of the Frisco RoughRiders, this place was clean, easy to navigate, and genuinely fun from start to finish. Parking was a breeze, entry into the ballpark was quick and painless, and there were plenty of giveaways and activities happening throughout the evening. Sadly, I did not get my big Jumbotron moment this time around (heartbreaking, honestly) but I still had a great time with friends old and new walking around the ballpark before the game and during innings taking in the atmosphere, even if we didn't get to go into the lazy river! The game was, a baseball game - "Yay, Baseball!" The RoughRiders ended up winning which didn't hurt the experience :) One thing I was slightly confused by was the timing of the Friday night post-game fireworks. I assumed they'd begin shortly after the final out but there was a long delay while families and attendees were allowed onto the field. By the time the fireworks finally started, we had already started heading out and only caught a few bursts from the parking lot. Not a huge deal, but something to keep in mind if fireworks are a big part of your evening plans. Also worth mentioning: the gift shop had some fantastic merchandise, especially shirts featuring my favorite president. Prices were definitely steep though - but wow I was tempted! I believe one of my friends was persuaded to make a purchase, even if it was after the fact. All in all, Riders Field delivered exactly the kind of fun, relaxed baseball experience I remembered and was hoping for. Might I dare say, minor league baseball could be one of life's underrated joys ;)
