Highway to the danger zone?

When it comes to reviews, I'm a bit of a Maverick. But when it comes to Basketball, I don't have any love for the Dallas team, and I'm a novice when it comes to knowing any of their players, past or present, except for Dirk No-wins-ski. DM are not, then, Depeche Mode. They're a pretty good basketball team with plenty of support from certain factions of the Dallas-Fort Worth population, but definitely not one of the most supported, nor the most successful basketball teams around. And the Houston Rockets always seem to outshine them a little bit in terms of local rivalries. Not to mention the high-flying Spurs, who dominate Texas regularly if we're honest. Being the third best basketball team in Texas cannot sit very well with the local people who are big into their football team more than anything. Thanks babe.

When: Tuesday, March 21st at 7:30pm What: Dallas Mavericks vs Golden State Warriors game Where: Section 124, Row L, Seats 1-5 Price: approximately $250ish each? Who: the roommate and three friends A last minute trip brought the roommate and I to American Airlines Center. He bought tickets to the Mavs game less than a week prior. Though we're Warriors fans, it was fun watching them play the Mavs in their own arena. And to watch the Curry brothers play each other. I'm sure Dallas fans didn't like the result of the game, but obviously, I was happy. Thanks Dallas Mavericks for being my second away game ever!

As season ticket holders, we've always enjoyed the games. Always more fun when fans get little MAVS souvenir waiting on their seats.but tonight, our section 321 got ransacked by employees and non-season ticket holders.

Yowser. Has it REALLY been 32 years since Donald Carter brought NBA basketball to Big 'D'. Holy crap I'm getting old! I have to admit that being a long time Maverick's fan since being a boy growing up in Richardson - it has NOT been easy; - early growing pains of an expansion Team, - the Kiki Vandeweghe 'snub' of 1980 (I still freaking hate that guy), - Roy Tarpley's repeated abuse of drugs and of the Mav's 'disciplinary program', - the 'Dark Ages' of the '90's (no playoff appearances) vs. the 'quick success' of The Stars (hockey) - in comparison, - trading Steve Nash in 2004, - losing to the Miami Heat in 2006 NBA Finals (after leading 2-0) I thought we were THERE in 1998 winning the Western Conference Finals in 1988 (Mark Aguirre, Brad Davis, Rolando Blackman, Derek Harper, Sam Perkins and Detlef Schrempf). Now, in 2011, the Mavericks have finally won the big one - AND while Donald Carter was still around to see it. It was great to also get a ring for J Kid and Dirk Diggler, led by 27 points by J. Terry. To top it off, Mark Cuban did it with class. Totally. Freaking. Awesome!

I always likened my Mavs to a girl that breaks your heart, but you always go back to her. Then in 2011, she grew up, got wiser, dug deep for heart that was always there, and with some sweet German engineering finally got you that ring. WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS AND NO ONE CAN EVER TAKE THAT AWAY FROM US.

I attend Dallas Mavericks games at least two or three times a season. Always a good time. They have a lot of food options, plenty of access to drinks, and the Hangar is always stocked with plenty of fan gear. I love that the facility is clean from the stands, to the halls, to the restrooms. They always keep the facility presentable. Seating is affordable and you can usually always find a good deal online for an even lower price than regular ticket value. They always give out free goodies and sometimes they have theme nights where they give out shirts, hats, bobble head dolls, etc. Get there early to take advantage of even more giveaways from sponsors and to enjoy the full Dallas Mavericks experience at the American Airlines Center. #MFFL

I was mostly there because of them but I do like Jason Robertson... fellow cat enthusiast and all. And, he had a grrreat game. The Stars ended up winning and somewhere during the game I found myself dangerously close to becoming a Dallas Stars fan... until I remembered what they did to my beloved Buffalo Sabres in the '90s. Trauma aside, this was a great afternoon/evening! The arena atmosphere was great even if the escalators could use some TLC, the surrounding area around the venue seemed pretty lively and easy to navigate, and the fans near us were excellent - friendly, engaged, and fun despite the fact we were perched way (way) up in the nosebleeds. I'm also thrilled to add another NHL arena to my list. This was only my fourth NHL venue, so I've still got a long way to go, but this was definitely a memorable one. Great game, great energy, and a really fun afternoon during a really, really fun weekend in Dallas!

Absolutely unacceptable experience from start to finish…read more Communication was practically nonexistent. Getting a response felt like pulling teeth, and when I finally did, it didn't even matter because the pricing was completely inconsistent. I was given a quote when I dropped off my items, only to receive an invoice TWO WEEKS later for nearly double the amount. No explanation, no heads-up--just a completely different price like that was normal. When I called to ask about it, the owner was shockingly rude. Instead of addressing the discrepancy, he immediately got defensive and accused me of wanting everything for free--which was never even remotely the case. Not once did he acknowledge that the invoice didn't match the original quote. It was dismissive, unprofessional, and frankly insulting. To top it off, when I said I'd just come pick up my shirts instead, his response was basically "good," as if he didn't want the business in the first place. That says everything you need to know. Terrible communication, dishonest pricing, and unbelievably rude customer service. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.

It truly feels like you've stepped into a legit Italian market. It's packed--in a good way--but be prepared to rub elbows while you shop. If you don't have social anxiety, it's all part of the experience. We met another couple there for sandwiches, and they absolutely delivered. I had the Italian beef, which was delicious--but definitely spicy. I even asked for light peppers and it still brought some heat. So fair warning: if you're sensitive to spice, you might want to pivot to something else. My wife has been missing New Orleans, so she went with the muffaletta. Let's just say it was a much cheaper solution than flying her to the Big Easy. No gumbo on the menu, but the sandwich hit the spot. After we ate, we did a little shopping and grabbed some fresh Italian ingredients imported straight from Italy--which is always a win in my book. Great food, great vibe, and a true Dallas institution. We'll definitely be back.

The garden in the spring is beautiful with the flowers in bloom. You really feel like you are in nature with all the different plants, trees, trails, a creek, wooden bridge, wild flowers, and serenity. This time I avoided the parking fee by parking in a free lot at SMU and walking 10 minutes to the Bush Center. Overall, the gardens are a gem in Dallas. Second to being at ground zero seeing it from the Presidential library will leave you needing Kleenex or fanning away the tears as I attempted to do. It was truly something to see some of the items I'd only seen in media coverage up close and personal. You will have chills down your spine. There really are no words for this part of the museum but of course several other much lighter areas, filled with joyful memorabilia. I loved the pets area and the Oval Office replication. The baseball display, eggs from Easter rolls, his bible, menus, gowns, and many other items were highlights of mine from our visit. This is a fantastic library, and I'd highly recommend a visit. I love that it's on SMU's gorgeous campus. I'm also pleased I was able to purchase a 2025 White House ornament to add to my White House Christmas ornament collection. A truly great Dallas museum to visit.

Since the business was actively running the ad, we assumed the promotion was valid and decided to check it out today (2/7/25). When we arrived, there were about 15 staff members standing around and only a handful of patrons. We took a seat at the bar and were given the regular menu. When I asked about the happy hour menu, the bartender simply said, "We don't do happy hour," and walked away. Confused, my sister pulled up the exact ad that was still running on Instagram. The staff then informed us that the promotion had been offered by a former GM who left last week, and rather than honoring the ad or even apologizing for the confusion, they dismissed our concern entirely. It's disappointing when a business pays for advertising but fails to update or manage their promotions properly. If an offer is no longer valid, it should be removed from social media rather than misleading potential customers. Unfortunately, due to this experience, we chose to take our business elsewhere. I hope Backyard takes this as an opportunity to improve communication and ensure their marketing aligns with what they actually offer.
