In the dictionary, Devil is defined asâ Dev-il (devâel) n. 1. a)the chief evil spirit, a supernatural beingâthe tempter of human beings. b) a person who is mischievous, energetic, reckless etc. In Dallas, devil is defined as FLAT TRACK ROLLER DERBY! The gates of hell opened in November 2004 when this group of bad-ass roller derby females hit the Dallas scene. The Dallas Derby Devils are the original DFW roller derby league with a current roster of 90+ active skaters, making DDD the largest flat track derby league in the south; currently there are more than 206 leagues around the world. When the Devils play, it's a full-contact, hardcore extravaganza; with a focus on athleticism, sportsmanship, and community involvement. The league achieved its current level of success with sell out crowds of 1,000 by simple, grassroots promotion, and the D.I.Y. attitude of being skater owned and operated. The Dallas Derby Devils are a proud member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA), a national governing body of flat track leagues that are skater owned and operated. The best scene in DFW, ever! Where else can you get 3 hours plus of entertainment, that is family friendly, and serves dollar drafts? I mean the State Fair kinda comes close but they even they do not sell jello shots in the stands. I went just to check it out because North Richland Hills is somewhat lacking in the live music scene, the bar scene, and pretty much any other, somewhat adult, activity. I was blown away by how unpretentious the crowd was and the way Dallas Derby Devils put together the bouts. I think I maybe saw three people total wearing skinny jeans. Austin hipsters would be green with envy, tearing each other apart just to attend something like this without the event selling out. It's also pretty inspiring watching women of all shapes and sizes, using their hips and bodies to play such an intense sport. Definitely go! There is no bullshit ticket processing fee, no parking fees, no overpriced beers. Go NOW!!! read more

Insanely entertaining! Absolutely family friendly, and a plus if you have little girls because it shows them that us women can play the tough games and still be pretty! Come check them out! You won't be disappointed! read more

I went to one of there games and was not impressed. I felt that the skaters and support staff were very rude and not fan-friendly at all. I will not be returning and neither with the other people I was with that night. read more

My daughter and I recently attended a game because she is interested in joining the junior roller derby. We just moved to the Dallas area and heard of roller derby and thought it would be something to get involved in. I was very disappointed in everything about the evening. We will never be associated with this league and will never attend another event. The game was supposed to be the "Championship" game but was so lopsided and boring. No one seemed to know what was going on. Girls were flipping the crowd off and exposing themselves. There was NO air conditioner, the lines were way too long, couldn't hear anything, WAY over-priced, and "skaters" can't skate. This was not family friendly. Save your money. read more

The Dallas Derby Devils (DDD) is an all-female flat track roller derby league in Dallas, Texas and surrounding area of Ft. Worth, Texas. Founded in November 2004, the Dallas Derby Devils is the original North Texas roller derby league with a current roster of over one hundred active skaters, making DDD one of the largest flat track derby leagues in the south United States. The Dallas Derby Devils are an original member of the Women's Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA). The Dallas Derby Devils have completed sell-out home seasons since 2006 featuring the five home teams that comprise the league; The Death Row Rumblers, The High Seas Hotties, The Slaughterers, The Suicide Shifters, and The Wrecking Crew. Skaters of these five teams make up an all-star travel team for the Dallas Derby Devils. The Army of Darkness, our all-star squad, represents the league in sanctioned WFTDA competitions. Our second rank interleague team-Battalion of Doom-assists us in our quest for worldwide roller derby domination. Since 2008, league games are held at the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, Texas. The Dallas Derby Devils is a skater-owned and skater-operated 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Established in 2004.

Founded in 2004, and bouting in May 2005, the Dallas Derby Devils brought flat track roller derby to the DFW metroplex. As a skater-owned, DIY (Do It Yourself) nonprofit organization, and a member league of the WFTDA (Women's Flat Track Derby Association), our mission is to empower ourselves by working together on and off the track. We take time to give back to our community through charitable contributions, local sponsorship programs and by cooperating and collaborating with other roller derby leagues worldwide. The Dallas Derby Devils consist of five home teams (in order of conception): High Seas Hotties, Suicide Shifters, Wrecking Crew, Slaughterers, and Death Row Rumblers. I liked that they had Kona on draft, I could get two beers here for the price of one at a MLB stadium. The bar on the 3rd base side weirdly didn't have any draft beer. Each section on has about 8-10 rows in, so no bad seats really. We came the second day of the season and was surprised that the restrooms weren't very clean, all the sanitation bins were full - which didn't make sense. The stadium also had a fishy smell to it which I didn't notice to begin with but about half way through I couldn't not smell it! Most fridays if not all are fireworks and they let you sit on the grass - nice little display with a good view. Would come back again, hopefully they sort the smell and cleanliness issues out. Got a first time certificate but they don't have any stickers or buttons - they did have some in the store but wanted $5 for a small button! Game times tend to run longer than MLB, it was about a 3hr game.

I try to rate ball parks on 4 categories: Food, Architecture, Fanbase and something I just call Other Architecture: Kind of felt somewhat "cookie cutter" but there was a huge glass wall along the outfield lines that is cool. The roof is retractable but was closed when I was there so that may be why it felt cookie cutter to me. I like my baseball outdoors even if it is 98 degrees. Food: They have all the usual fair that you would expect. Then they have the insane! A sombrero nacho hat for 40.00. This is more of a 9-layer dip than actual nachos. You can actually eat the hat, and we did. I had another friend get a 24-inch hot dog that was more of a sauage with grilled onions and chili. He ate the whole thing! Luckily, he wasn't rooming with me that night. The beer selection didn't seem as large as I would like. They should have more local breweries like Martin House on tap. Fanbase: The place wasn't full on a Friday night, but it was probably 2/3's full and the fans were all cheering and dressed up in Rangers' gear. Lots of ladies in jerseys and cowboy boots. Other: Texas Live! is next door so you can get a crappy beer and pregame there. It's also next door to Jerry's World (Cowboys). There is tons of parking but it was 60.00 to park by the stadium.

The DMA has a supporter membership for $120. It includes parking which would cost you $20 otherwise. You also get two free admission tickets that you can use to view the museum's collections or any special exhibitions each and every day of the year. The membership will also provide a discount at the museum store and in the snack bar. Visit twice during the year, and the membership more than pays for itself. You can buy your membership online, print the receipt, and show it for free parking. Once inside the venue, show the receipt at the check-in desk to get your free tickets to the special exhibit(s). Your DMA cards will be mailed to you in four weeks, in the mean time, use that printed receipt for everything. We renewed our membership this weekend April 2026 and went to see the Samurai Collection. Metalwork is not a favorite of mine, but I was still fascinated by the stories presented on the placards throughout the exhibit and I certainly appreciated the beautiful, intricate craftsmanship presented in each piece. I didn't realize that the Samurai swords and armor had been banned from production in Japan, so the metal workers pivoted and learned to become artisans. They started to make and repair metal embellishments, lanterns, and incense burners for the numerous temples in the country. Many of the items in this collection were from Kyoto and Nara, both places my husband and I visited in November 2009. The full body armor was fascinating. Little pieces of leather were coated in metal, painted, and woven tightly together to form a moveable, but protective layer over the body. The workmanship was exquisite. The exhibit had a few short videos you could watch to learn about the work. I especially liked the 30 second clip about the process of making cloisonné. These vases are beautiful and the process to make each one is detailed and meticulous. Kids could collect a postcard-sized scavenger hunt near the entrance and use that to stay in engaged throughout the visit. At the end, there was a sign on the wall with the answer key pictures showing which art pieces help the intricate designs they were looking for. The DMA has a permanent collection that includes a variety of art from around the globe, as well as multiple special exhibits throughout the year. Everyone is bound to find something that delights them and inspires conversation and wonder. Worth a visit!

What a spectacular collection!…read more No exhibit overwhelms the visitor. They are all consistently laid out with track LED spotlights and ample spacing. There is a good variety of subjects and styles. And even rotating special exhibits, too. Best of all, there is free admission. What a treasure to make art accessible. Plus, the museum is located two blocks of the DART station at St Paul. Any level of admirer will appreciate this museum.
