The Texas Legends are the official @NBAGLeague affiliate of the Dallas Mavericks | @DallasMavs. Off the court, they host leisure events designed for networking, meeting new connections, and sharing business ideas. Attendees enjoyed a lunch provided by Layne's Chicken Fingers while listening to Darryn Hyman discuss the @ToyotaUSA Leadership Academy programs, which cater to students from K-12 through to professionals. The programs are based on the Japanese business philosophy of "Kaizen," which promotes continuous improvement. Established six years ago in Fall 2021, the initiatives fall into three categories: 1. Academic Enrichment: Collaborations with Lancaster ISD and others. 2. Collegiate Engagement: Partnerships with colleges in the U.S. and Europe to prepare students for leadership roles. 3. Professional Leadership: Programs aimed at interns and employees. The Texas Legends frequently host these events, with breakfast sessions featuring athletes as speakers and luncheons featuring leaders from various partnerships. While this is a membership-based group, guests are welcome to attend and learn more about the organization. With all that's going on in DFW I think folks might overlook the fact that we have an NBA development league team (Texas Legends) right here in our own back yard. You can catch some great basketball from up and coming NBA players before the step up into the big league! HIGHLY recommend if you have kids! They have tons of activities for them at the court level before and during the game. Plus the crowd development team is AMAZING and they keep everyone really engaged during the game. The Texas Legends are the Dallas Mavericks' NBA G League affiliate. They're one of the older teams in the G League, having been founded in 2006 and beginning their first season (2006-07) that same year. That season, the G League expanded to 12 teams from eight and, for the first time, formed two divisions: Eastern and Western. At the time, the Legends were known as the Colorado 14ers and were based in Broomfield, Colorado, a suburb northwest of Denver. They would only play in Broomfield for three seasons before moving to Frisco, Texas, a suburb north of Dallas, in 2009. In their final year in Colorado, the 14ers won the NBA D-League (what the G League was called at the time) championship against the Utah Flash (now the Delaware Blue Coats). To date, that '09 title is the franchise's only league championship. In the years since, the Legends have been a mediocre team at best, finishing with a sub-.500 record in most seasons and only qualifying for the playoffs twice (2011, 2018). Both playoff years, the Legends were eliminated in the first round. The Legends play in Frisco's Comerica Center which also serves as the NHL's Dallas Stars' practice facility. With a seating capacity of 4,500, Comerica Center is one of the smaller venues in the G League, but not among the smallest (there are almost 10 arenas that smaller). The Legends have rostered several players that have spent a decent amount of time in the NBA. They include Joe Alexander, DeJuan Blair, Josh Childress, Jae Crowder, Antonio Daniels, Chris Douglas-Roberts, Devin Ebanks, Melvin Ely, Jeremy Evans, Dan Gadzuric, Ben Gordon, Rashad McCants, Gary Neal, Greg Ostertag, Dwight Powell, Gary Trent Jr, Delonte West, and Jianlian Yi. In 2010, the Legends became the first men's professional basketball team to have a woman, "Lady Magic" Nancy Lieberman, as head coach. My son's preschool teacher is a Legend's Dancer. We we were offered tickets and jumped on the chance to go to a game. I have to say I didn't know what to expect. I have been to Mavericks games, but this is nothing like it. Have you ever been to a three ring circus? Well, on the first ring is inflatables and games for the kids. The second ring is ...on wait a minute, what you came for, the basketball game. The third ring is beach volleyball and hula hoops. I was very torn as a mom. At first I thought we need to be respectful and watch this game. Then, as we sat there I realized I guess it alright to go and play during the game. Needless to say, my boys had a blast. They want to go back. It is not your typical basketball game. It is a very large party! read more

There is so much visual stimulation at these games it is crazy! At first glance, you wouldn't even know there was a basketball game happening. There is a circus of activity around the court for kids to do and they are up in it. People are talking and the place is loud. They do mic the hoops like in the NBA and have "courtside" seats (they are more like tables). There is a cheer team and all the giveaways during intermission and timeouts. All in all an entertaining experience and definitely "minor" league. Good for the family, not so great for the true hoops fan. read more

Grrrr, what a frustrating night. After walking all the way around the parking garage we arrived at the entrance. Apparently you can cut through the garage but the signs indicate you must walk around. .I had a smallish backpack purse that I take everywhere(I'm a mom with wet wipes hand sanitizer and masks and wallet) An employee approached me and told me my bag was too big. There were no places to check in my purse so I had to leave my family and walk back to the car. However there are two garages and I got lost and couldn't find my car. I walked back and forth for 30min just to put my purse back. I grabbed some cash and took my phone. I then wanted to get some snacks for the family waited in line to find out they don't accept cash. I left my debit card in my purse that I had to take back to the car because they wouldn't let me bring it into the venue. Without food to entertain my kids, I was unable to watch the game so my kids just played in the kids section. Not very enjoyable. I don't think I'll be back. read more

I'll start by saying that our tickets were bottom row.... but on the end of the court near the "fun area". This was a horrible experience. My rating is not on the venue, the team, or the game. My rating is in the parents of the kids and those that seem to go, not to watch a game. If you don't have kids or are grossed out by watching a grown man feed a group screaming kids gummy worms with tongs this could be one of the worst experiences for you too. We didn't even know it started and It felt like I paid to sit in a daycare. Kind of disrespectful to the players and coaches that are there to entertain us. Not going to lie, we left as soon as the first period was over. I wish the team well. read more

What a wild time. Great B ball game, some of the players just came down from the Mavs. They beat the Nets in a close finish but the legends pulled away the last min. Lots of kids having a great time, some even watched the game. This place is the definition of family fun. I went with my wife and we had a great time, will definitely go back. Lots of good restaurants and shopping nearby. Before the game we looked at houses at the Tribute, that's a great place too and only about 10 min away. read more

My family and I were invited by some friends to attend a Legends game a couple years ago. To be honest, before that, I wasn't even aware of the team. We had taken our first foster son there with us. He was only around two, but he had a blast. I had found out that after the game you could go down to the court and meet some of the players. The players were really friendly and seemed to love the fan interaction. The court was a little chaotic to say the least. But I was able to meet most of the players as well as two of the coaches who I used to follow when they played for the Mavs. None other than Nick Van Exel and DeSagana Diop. Hopefully we can return someday with our new foster son and be able to extend those life long memories with him. And hopefully be able to meet Mr. Webb, as I was a HUGE fan of his when I was a kid (as I'm sure most were). We all had a great time and the Legends seem to care about the fan experience and making it a good one for them. read more

The place was to loud, and there were kids running on the sidelines playing games which is fine unless it restricts your view, WHICH IT DOES. The games just aren't as energetic and pumped, I would rather go to a unt ( north texas ) game. read more

Very fun family event! We got free tickets through my kids school and ended up going back for several more games. Easy to park (though it is $10) but we all had a great time! The players will sign autographs for quite awhile after the game so kids really enjoyed getting to talk to them and get pictures taken. read more
