Choctaw Stadium is like the cool uncle of sports venues--used to be a baseball park, got a…read moremakeover, and now it's trying new things like football, rugby, and rooftop cocktails. I didn't go for a game, just wandered through, but even without a crowd it had that big Texas energy. You can feel the history in the bones of the place--like it's still whispering old Rangers games to itself while gearing up for a rugby scrum or high school football showdown. The architecture is part ballpark, part modern facelift, and part "we're figuring it out as we go." I kind of loved it. It was quiet the day I visited, but the views were wide open and the breeze rolled through like it had season tickets. From the upper deck, you can see the whole Arlington entertainment zone laid out like a buffet--Texas Live!, AT&T Stadium, all of it. Choctaw might not be the headliner anymore, but it's still in the show--and it's got charm, history, and a little grit left in the stands.

I've always been a fan of this ball stadium. I recall when it was just Arlington Stadium, before…read moreit became sponsored. It's been around for a while, the brick ball park is becoming a thing of the past. When the Rangers moved across the street, I was excited to know that they weren't taking this one down. It's a beautifully aged ball park. One memory is of being in the park for opening day of the Rangers where they set a record for the coldest opening day for the Rangers at 31 degrees. It was cold, but it was fun. The vendors are plentiful and the views are great. Walking up top, you can look over the brick wall and see across the area, it's a beautiful view. The baseballs out front are a great touch. A lot the outside accessible areas are becoming restaurants, stores, and offices. It's still a beautiful ball park.

MLB Ballpark #27…read more Globe Life Field is a solid ballpark but it's in that middle range of ball parks like Cincinnati, Cleveland, Chicago White Sox, and Washington DC. I try to rate ball parks on 4 categories: Food, Architecture, Fanbase and something I just call Other Architecture: Kind of felt somewhat "cookie cutter" but there was a huge glass wall along the outfield lines that is cool. The roof is retractable but was closed when I was there so that may be why it felt cookie cutter to me. I like my baseball outdoors even if it is 98 degrees. Food: They have all the usual fair that you would expect. Then they have the insane! A sombrero nacho hat for 40.00. This is more of a 9-layer dip than actual nachos. You can actually eat the hat, and we did. I had another friend get a 24-inch hot dog that was more of a sauage with grilled onions and chili. He ate the whole thing! Luckily, he wasn't rooming with me that night. The beer selection didn't seem as large as I would like. They should have more local breweries like Martin House on tap. Fanbase: The place wasn't full on a Friday night, but it was probably 2/3's full and the fans were all cheering and dressed up in Rangers' gear. Lots of ladies in jerseys and cowboy boots. Other: Texas Live! is next door so you can get a crappy beer and pregame there. It's also next door to Jerry's World (Cowboys). There is tons of parking but it was 60.00 to park by the stadium.

Our company provided each guest with three drink tickets, and many attendees -- including ourselves -- happily purchased additional drinks beyond that. Unfortunately, our experience with most of the bartenders was disappointing. We visited two different bar stations, and several bartenders came across as rude or uninterested, almost as if serving guests was an inconvenience. This stood out especially since the event was a large private rental, and guests were continuing to spend money throughout the evening. That said, one bartender truly made a positive impression -- Analilia. She was friendly, welcoming, and had an amazing attitude that completely changed the experience at her bar. She provided the level of service you would expect at a venue of this caliber. Despite the inconsistent service, we still enjoyed the event overall thanks to the atmosphere, food, and entertainment. I hope management recognizes team members like Analilia and works to ensure a more consistently positive guest experience across all bar stations in the future.

Boooo, Texas Live! What an incredibly disappointing…read moreexperience you have given many locals AND visitors! We drove out, paid for parking, and walked up expecting to grab dinner and watch the Mexico World Cup match, only to be told at the door that they had "just started charging admission for the Mexico games." Mind you, we came to Texas Live to see Mexico vs S Korea, USA vs AUS, USA vs HERZ, and were not charged. Seriously? If you're going to change your policy and charge people just to enter your venue to eat and watch a game, the least you can do is make that crystal clear before people spend money on parking. It was not on their website so this is UNACCEPTABLE! AND why just the Mexico games? I'd say that was predatory at the least. If it was solely about safety, let who arrives be served, but you took advantage and cost us $ AND inconvenience. DO BETTER!

Great deal!!! I came here with my 3 year old and he had so much fun. They have a kids playground area where he just went wild. They even have a sports bar and grill in the outfield. Since I was with my son I did not partake of adult beverages, but I shall return with great thirst. Only concern was that the park did not have a lot of fans. would have been nice if more people would take advantage of the cool little ball park.

All in all you can go check a game out for under twenty bucks if you do it right. AND there are always tons of goofy between-innings promotions. The stadium itself is great. It doesn't have the old school charm of LaGrave in Fort Worth or all the glitz and glamor of the Ballpark in Arlington, but it serves the purpose. The suites are nice if you get a chance to go in there and the rest of the seats are great. Cup holders, plenty of leg room, not a bad seat, etc. For the kids there is a basketball court and some sort of wiffle ball field over on the side, if you have those kid things. I love this place. I love a good deal for a high quality product and this place is it. Go on Thursday nights; much fun.
