Mike began by carefully listening to all our concerns -- from systemic roof leaks and water intrusion to workmanship issues -- and made sure he understood the full picture before starting. During the inspection, he was incredibly meticulous, documenting every defect both big and small with detailed photos and clear notes. He even helped us find out the potential root cause for some of the more difficult issues we had been having with the house i.e. the sporadic roof leaks. What stood out most was his deep expertise. With over 20 years in the trade, Mike knows construction process inside and out, and what builders should or shouldn't do as best practices. He also has specialized experience in mold remediation and plumbing issues, which gave us confidence given our past water problems. Mike is an excellent communicator and very patient. Some brickwork is cracked around suspended arches and cornerstone decorative pieces (e.g. above garage doors) but obviously has been for decades. I specifically called Cornerstone because I wanted a serious contractor who does actual poured footings, not that stacked cylinder mess that could actually crack your foundation worse as they use your house for the jack leverage. Dave was on time, courteous and (given that our appointment was in the middle of the Viral Apocalypse) understanding that I was working from home instead of 'off' for the day of our appointment. We spoke for a bit, he outlined everything well and asked pertinent questions about my reasons for calling, then got down to work inspecting...and recommended no work be done at this time. I offered to pay a service charge but he said that wasn't necessary. We did follow up on the phone briefly (I was busy when he was finished) and I am strongly considering coming back to them for some drainage improvements here and there as precautionary measures. I had two different engineers review his report and they both stated Tom was wrong and the repairs I needed would not cost more than $5,000 with a lifetime warranty on the work.
