We called in the order and as other reviewers mentioned the call taker is dry. He gives bare minimum energy over the phone and that in itself is a turn off. Anywho, the pizza was reasy timely. It was fresh and hot. The pleasantries stop there. We ordered a med, sausage with extra sauce and well done. It lacked extra sauce and it was a half notch above a frozen pizza as far as the taste. Hello there yelpers. Today I followed a food reviewers recommendation for a pizza he gave a 9.6/10 and said that this place easily beats two other establishments that shall remain nameless. So my wife being a pizza connoisseur was like let's try Geo's Pizza out. So we went. We ordered a large sausage, cheese & onion pizza. It's a very small take out place. Nice and clean & classic. Smelled of delicious pizza. The owner was a very nice gentleman. It is a cash only establishment so have your coins ready. Now just to say we can tell our pizza was ready well before we got there. No fault of theirs. Unfortunately it was traffic. So I'll be as fair as i can. The pizza was good, I'm sure it's a lot better fresh out the oven. Next time I'll order there and wait. The first thing i noticed and like immediately was how thin the crust was! Very thin! Like cracker thin!! The sausage was very good, the cheese was decent, i didn't particularly like the sauce but it didn't ruin the pizza. The onion was a bit strong for me but the wife liked it. Now like i mentioned our pizza had been ready so until I do an updated review I'm rating this pizza at a solid 7.1/10. And I'm sure this score will go up on the update but for now Does it beat the other two establishments that shall remain nameless? Hmmm one of them absolutely! GEOS is our family's favorite thin pizza. We've been going here for over 20 years now. Just great classic Chicago thin crust pizza. They get the crust perfectly crisp, the sauce is rich and flavorful and they add just the right amount of cheese. Their sausage is excellent! We often get garlic on ours and that gives it a nice extra punch but all of their toppings are fresh and delicious. I'm not sure what the hubub is about. Ordering pizza by the slice here was one of my biggest mistakes of 2018. When you order by the slice, you need to check your expectations. The pie is probably already made, and customization will likely result in a little bit of freshening, but you're still going to get a precut slice. Trepidation aside, I asked for a mushroom and sausage slide to hold me over until dinner. At first glance, I thought the guy had tossed two frozen mini slices into a styrofoam box. I reluctantly took a bite: yep, paper thin stale-feeling crust with a smattering of sweet sauce. A nice topping of additional cheese baked well, but clearly added due to my topping customization. God forbid I didn't ask for mushrooms and sausage, I'd probably just be eating red Barron or Jewel-Osco store brand. The mushrooms were out of a can or jar: soggy and soft, not the fresh type a quality pizza joint uses. Sausage was fatty and not very flavorful: I do have a preference for spice, but for a pizza joint in an 'old Italian neighborhood' surely could have done better. Portion/value was poor: the two tiny slices must have come from a small pie: I assume they don't get a lot of slice orders, so they make small pies for those who may order by the slice. Issue is, then the slices are very small, but still old from sitting around. Sure it was cheap, but not enough to subside the regret. Service was fine: guy working the register didn't notice me but was friendly enough, lots of magazines and memorabilia around the place. It had character, but the pizza simply didn't. I couldn't get over how stale feeling the crust was: it was the bad kind of thin. The best way to describe the entire ordeal is "old." One star for pizza, one star for charity. read more
