The locals claimed that it normally wasn't needed for the climate. But I thing the management here needs to consider offering more than just a small fan. Each room has a heater, so I would recommend this hotel in cooler weather without hesitation. I had a clean, comfortable and QUIET room considering the wedding. Scottish breakfast was very good. I tried Haggis for the first time. If you ever watched the movie Highlander, Christopher Lambert describes Haggis as "meat and barley boiled in a sheep's stomach". MMMM doesn't that sound good? (NOT) Well, I found it to be a bit like corned beef hash, but much less salty. Not my _favorite_ breakfast food, but I am glad I tried it. They also offer roasted tomatoes, sausages, scrambled eggs, custom omelets, yogurt and fruit. I only ate breakfast here, so cannot rate the lunch or dinner menu.

We then waited a further 15 minutes after finishing before anyone came to take our plate. This was after the same 3 staff passing our table many times. To be there for 40 or so minutes and only just have our starter plates removed, we asked for the bill and left. Extremely disappointed and won't be back. No excuse for the terrible service received.

It took us on the wrong side of half an hour to get everyone a drink, and we were never asked if we wanted any more. In fact most the night you would have thought nobody worked there! When we ordered our food two staff started at either side of the table and got confused about 1/4 the way down. After the meal only 7/8 people had gotten their "food" and the the rest were brought out about 5 minutes apart from each other when we were done. One of our party didn't eat, they canceled their meal after waiting about 40 minutes. Even that was gotten wrong and the food was brought out anyway, and sent back. And while all of this was going on two guys stood at the bar trying to get a drink, almost the entire time. You had to be there to believe it, but don't be there. Think Fawlty Towers without the laughs....

It was ok, not in an ideal location but probably a good place to hit passing trade as it is just as the motorway joins Coat bridge.

It's virtually next door to "The Golden Fry", a (very) long established fish and chip shop, where the food tasted just as good today as I remember it 50 years ago; truly. Friendly service too. A short walk from Belhaven Park and Wishaw Main Street, the latter of which, I remember as a little edgy back in the day, but Wishaw is now described as "sleepy".
