The locals claimed that it normally wasn't needed for the climate. But I thing the management here needs to consider offering more than just a small fan. Each room has a heater, so I would recommend this hotel in cooler weather without hesitation. I had a clean, comfortable and QUIET room considering the wedding. Scottish breakfast was very good. I tried Haggis for the first time. If you ever watched the movie Highlander, Christopher Lambert describes Haggis as "meat and barley boiled in a sheep's stomach". MMMM doesn't that sound good? (NOT) Well, I found it to be a bit like corned beef hash, but much less salty. Not my _favorite_ breakfast food, but I am glad I tried it. They also offer roasted tomatoes, sausages, scrambled eggs, custom omelets, yogurt and fruit. I only ate breakfast here, so cannot rate the lunch or dinner menu.

The food served is of a high quality with a special mention for the mixed grill - the amount of food is so huge, rumour is no one has ever left an empty plate, I can confirm that! On a personal note, this hotel (then owned by a previous hotel chain) was the place I first met my wife, so it is 'special to us both'.

Tudor Hotel - Having a great time with Arthur, the super friendly owner in the Tudor Hotel bar our first night in Scotland. Feel like family!

The food has always been the standard traditional fare and that hasn't changed. Renamed Bistro 39, the restaurant has been given a fresh new look but has the same layout, so still plenty scope for people watching if you grab a booth at the window. The menu has a decent range to choose from but my go to is always the "mothers steak pie" which genuinely tastes like traditional home cooked steak pie and is worthy of the £8.45 price tag. There are many cheaper dining options in Airdrie but The Tudor offers good food in nice surroundings and not many offer that!

The restaurant itself has undergone refurbishment to a bistro setting and I found the surroundings to be comfortable and better than before. At the time I went in with my partner, there were only 5 other customers and 3 staff I could see wandering around. First of all we waited around 15 minutes to get a drinks order taken and a further 10 minutes before the waitress returned. I ordered potato skins which were okay although the droplets of spice around the plate was just untidy, dated and not required. We then waited a further 15 minutes after finishing before anyone came to take our plate. This was after the same 3 staff passing our table many times. To be there for 40 or so minutes and only just have our starter plates removed, we asked for the bill and left. Extremely disappointed and won't be back. No excuse for the terrible service received.

Since being an adult I have been back a few times and the building still holds very good memories. The hotel is an old mill and in the restaurant they have a glass floor and as you eat from the great menu you can watch the wheel turn the water beneath you, this is not something you get in many restaurants, and it's a nice change. The building itself is very old and I love places like this. They offer some cook traditional British food on the menu. The restaurant is on the river bank and you could be mistaken for believing you are no longer in Mother well, if you are looking for a break this is the place to visit.

For this reason I was looking forward to having Christmas Lunch here, however, I was sadly disappointed. The food was served and the presentation left a lot to be desired. In fact the soup was the best where presentation was concerned. Looking forward to it I took my first mouthful on to discover it was burnt. Clearly the chef hadn't tasted this before it came out to paying customers! The main course was served on cold plates - turkey dinner consisting of one small sausage and a taste of stuffing on a plate with a couple of slices of turkey covered in gravy. Not even hot desserts were served on heated plates. Overall I was sadly disappointed with my Christmas meal - not good value for money.
