Used the Premier Inn as a base to explore Glasgow. The location is very convenient, being just a 10-15 minute walk to the city centre and very close to the Merchant City and its restaurants. Being slightly outside the city centre, it is also slightly cheaper and still offers a great service. The bed was super comfortable and the room spotless. The bathroom was in great condition. Staff was welcoming when I checked in. I was a bit disappointed to see that my room was overlooking a busy road but traffic wasn't that heavy in the evening time and I barely noticed the noise. My last night wasn't so memorable though as a large group of teenagers checked in... Loud noises, shouting, running in the corridor until late. I felt like I was in a hostel... Disappointed that no firm action was taken by the staff to stop the disturbances. I still give this hotel 4 stars as the room was very comfortable and spacious. read more

Gonna give this one a big fat 4 on the star scale because I'm still revelling in how good my lunches have been here the last 2 days!! Didn't actually stay overnight in the hotel (don't think there was room anyway, it was absolutely rammed with bands in Glasgow for the Worlds!), this was the venue for a training course I had to attend for work, so my review is based on the use of function rooms and the wee restaurant. There was only 6 of us on the course, so we were given one of the smaller rooms, but having said that, it was very spacious and could have held at least 15 people with no problems. The air con/temp controls worked a treat and the room was really well stocked with teas/coffees/ biscuits etc. There was a fancy looking hot drinks machine that we discovered wasn't working but the staff were great at providing hot water and anything else we were after. We were given a set lunch menu with 2 choices for mains and desserts both days and I have to say, the food really surpassed my expectations on two fronts, the first being that every other training course I've attended the catering has been abysmal (and I'm not one to throw that word about lightly) and the second being that I was aware premier inn might be decent enough for budget travel or meeting facilities but that it is essentially still a budget hotel and my experience of food in such places ranges from average to kinda yuck. Anyway, I needn't have worried. Fish and chips followed by baked vanilla cheesecake one day and a chicken curry followed by a lemon meringue sundae the next. Both meals were really excellent. By no means the best I've ever had, but well cooked, really tasty and whacking big portions. The fish looked like someone had smothered a wee whale in batter!! The meringue sundae was the favourite, lovely and fresh with loads of really zingy lemon through the whole thing, yum! The staff were great, a really helpful friendly bunch. I'll definitely keep this place in mind if I'm looking for somewhere to stay overnight in the city in future! read more

Not really a big fan of 4 stars or less, but I think it'd be mean to give this place any less, the actual hotel was fantastic, I've stayed her a couple of times before and they've had a bit of a facelift, looks good. Reception very and friendly, unfortunately the lift was out of service but hey ho, I could probably do with the exercise but if you were staying for any length of time it'd be a bit of a bummer to say the least however reception did make it known that if I required assistance I only need ask. Very good. The hotel- this is the reason why I gave 4 stars instead of 5, the staff were friendly as you'd expect for Scotland really, (I'm English so there's no bias) one big problem was I waited 40mins for my meal, I ordered steak so could probably expect maybe 20-25mins but I felt 40mins was taking it too far, on 25mins though a waitress did come to me to apologise for my wait and told me my food would be a couple of minutes, took an extra 15. Not good, when you wait over half an hour for food that could be done in 20 you've got problem. The prices are kind of at the upper end of the mid price scale, but the food is very very good regardless of the wait, I could have easily have given 3 or even 2 stars for the hotel and restaurant but the food pulled it back, well done kitchen staff. All said and done, I would actually recommend coming here, hopefully my experience was just a one off and you won't have the same thing happen, it is a very nice hotel and the restaurant is well laid out, the food is excellent, so if your thinking of coming, I'd say jump in a car, anyone's will do, failing that grab a cab, it's in the centre of Glasgow so there everywhere. Well located , good parking , short walk over river to city centre . Modern and clean , good facilities . Only drawback restarant doesn't open till six and a lack of a nice bar area . read more
