Giving the understanding of being under COVID regulations and the struggles. Orderd the thurs blue plate fried chicken with cream corn and Lima beans with cornbread. One bite of the corn bread not impressive what so ever. Creme corn is from a can and microwaved. Lima beans were good. Fantastic food, fantastic service, every time I come here. I've had most the menu and everything is great, I especially liked the chicken sausage gumbo and the red beans and rice. The turnip greens appetizer is always a great unique way to get started. I especially want to thank our waitress Jodi, they were unfortunately out of a couple draft beers I wanted to try but Jodi took the extra time to bring me other samples to find something good. On my very first visit to the Flowood location, this restaurant is as solid a bet as its Madison counterpart.The tamales were on-point, though the seafood pasta could use a ladle or two less sauce. It was a little drowned in alfredo. I sat at the bar, and the service was great. They're already carrying New Belgium products, which is a smart move. Was definitely impressed by that. My family and I were in town from Virginia and decided to attend the Flowood location of Georgia Blue on the evening of 8/18/17. I ordered the shrimp & grits bites from the appetizer menu. The food came and my mother and I both tried one of the bites. We immediately noticed something very off about the taste. My mother and I agreed that it tasted spoiled. We alerted our waitress who then alerted her manager. She returned a few moments later and admitted that the shrimp & grits bites were indeed spoiled. I then alerted our waitress to me being 6 months pregnant. The manager came out and again admitted that the bites are in fact spoiled and there was a bad batch that wasn't supposed to be used. We were told that we wouldn't be charged for the bites. I was extremely unsettled because I, a 6 month pregnant woman who just ate spoiled shrimp & grits that you admitted were spoiled still had to pay $37.20 for an entree, another appetizer, kids meal, apple juice, and side salad. I personally feel that I shouldn't have been made to pay anything for being served spoiled food. Our waitress was extremely apologetic and did more than the manager to ensure I felt as comfortable as possible. The manager for the evening was apathetic to say the least and did not handle this very serious situation in a proper manner. I will NEVER visit another Georgia Blue restaurant again and I do not recommend. read more

My husband and I had dinner here for the first time last night, and I am so glad we decided to try it. We don't come to Jackson often, but when we do we almost always go to a certain restaurant that I love, but last night it was just a little out of the way. We opted for something closer by. We had a half an hour wait (as expected, Valentines weekend and the Dixie National), but had I known beforehand how amazing the food would be I would've waited hours. We ordered the Creole Spinach Dip for an appetizer, it was to die for. I had the Fried Chicken Ziti and my husband had the Rodeo burger, we were floored! Everything was spectacular. Not only is the food amazing, but the staff is just as great. They always make you feel welcome and are very polite and very prompt when it comes to service. If something is not correct, they are more than happy and willing to correct it. The atmosphere is entertaining. They have live music multiple times a week. Whenever I get a craving for a burger, I automatically think of Georgia Blue. Their Blues Burger Sliders are incredible. Also, highly recommend the Mardi Gras if you are craving a very delicious seafood meal. They have a little bit of everything for everyone. This is one of my new absolute favorite restaurants. My husband and I checked out this place on a Saturday night and immediately were greeted by super friendly faces and live music. We sat in the lounge area to enjoy the music. Our waiter, Jason, was awesome, but he wasn't the only one to check on us often to make sure we had everything we needed and were happy with all of our food. The loaded cheese fries were my fave!!! Perfectly fried, the perfect crisp, amazing queso, and loaded down with shredded cheese and bacon garnished with fresh green onion and served with ranch. I'll probably get this just as my entree next time. Splitting this appetizer between two people will almost fill you up!! My husband loved his Rodeo burger with its incredible bbq sauce. I got the Hodge Podge Poboy, and I honestly have no idea how one person could eat all of it, even without having an appetizer beforehand!! You definitely get your money's worth at this place. Traveling for work, I stumbled upon this gem. The food is fantastic, but really I am most enthused about the people. This is the warmest, most sincere establishment I've ever been to. I love Georgia Blues, the atmosphere is awesome, and I've tried almost everything on the menu and I must say everything is good, I can't make this up. My favorite is the RED BEANS AND RICE. I've had red beans from different places and hands down they have the best. The pasta is also great. They have a good variety off beers and the cocktails are pretty good. Went back recently. This waiter was super attentive. No shaming or requests that I sit in the bar area. Did request to be moved out of the traffic pattern and request promptly answered. My husband recommended the place. I have been hung up on shrimp and grits lately, so I ordered theirs. I was not impressed. They were very heavy and didn't have a whole lot of flavor. I was also disappointed by the price. We ate at lunch and typically lunch prices are cheaper than dinner. My entree was around $20. My mom ordered the plate lunch. Had heard of the place a couple of times when we visited family in the area. My mom actually recommended that the two of us should eat there tonight. Parking lot was full which is always a good sign. Restaurant looked busy inside and was concerned about the wait when we had go put our names on a list... But about 5 minutes later we had a table. Live music was coming from the bar but not too loud. great atmosphere with lots off friendly faces working. I ordered a fried duck salad which was excellent and very generous on the duck. My mom opted for the three slider burger sampler with house chips... More than she could eat and we boxes up number three. Overall a great meal and service . This is my first review ever.... I've been in Flowood 4 out of the last 8 weeks for business and we've tried several local restaurants. By far this is the BEST we've been to. I had open faced roast beef that reminded me of my grandmothers. And a friend had bbq shrimp jambalaya that was amazing. The best was desert that they bring to you with sparklers. So I have been to Jackson several times and had not tried this place even though everyone here said it's a must try. I made way here last night. Menu looked really good food was fine. My issue is not with the food but with the waiter. I have never had a waiter be pushy or overbearing. I ordered a dessert to go but was told would not be but in the system until later cause at this time my actual food had not arrived. Please tell me why my dessert that was to go was brought to me while I was still eating my food? Did I mention that there was ice cream with it? So I'm not wanting my ice cream to melt so I rush to finish my food. He came to our table multiple times throughout my dinner, I can see why if I had called him over, but no he just kept popping up. Just way too much for me. Get the bill and he's taking up the plates in the middle of my filling out my receipt. I just felt that he was rushing to get us out. However I will be back hopefully for a better experience and different waiter. But thank you Jacob for such a pushy time . Georgia Blue please take time to retrain him again. read more

Ordered the fish tacos and they were really good! However, I was not able to finish my meal because flies had taken over my plate. A manager was walking by at the time so I showed her my plate and she said that, "that happens all the time in Mississippi" and walked away. What? Overall excellent food and service. Quickly set up for party of 5 including wheelchair. Great menu with lots of Southern Americana choices. I had red beans and rice with sausage. WOW. Let me start by saying, I don't normally take time out to write reviews for restaurants. I have been in the food service industry for 28 years. I have never encountered such a blatant disregard for customer care as I did tonight. I called Georgia Blue early in the day to request reservations for 12 for a birthday dinner for my sister this evening. The hostess told me that they do not take reservations, but was very courteous and took my name and the number in the party and told me she would work us in as quickly as possible. Seeing as how we were dining at 5:30 on a Sunday evening, I didn't feel as if we would have a problem being seated anyway...it was really just to give them a heads up that a large group of us were coming in for dinner. We arrived at the flowood location at 5:30 and were all there crowded around the hostess stand waiting, and I could see the table was ready, so I told the hostess that we were all there if she wanted to seat us. She told me that they were waiting in order to give the waitress time to get her other tables in order before they seated us. Alright, I get it, but we had 2 small children with us, and would have rather been seated, and told that it would be a few minutes before the server could get to us. This was no biggie, we just waited patiently. When we were just about to be seated, I was approached by one of the waitresses that I happen to know form outside of the restaurant (this was only my second visit to this restaurant). She noticed that I was carrying a cake box, and knows that I own a cake shop. She told me that we were not allowed to bring cake in from outside the restaurant. Maybe, I should have asked before we made reservations, but I can tell you, in 28 years of working in and eating out at restaurants, I have never been told I could not bring a specialty cake in to have after our dinner. Honestly most of the time I make an extra large cake so that we can share with our server, and other staff members. I asked to speak to the manager to confirm this "policy". The manager (female with long dark hair - didn't catch her name) came to the hostess stand already on the defensive. She started telling me some story of how some group came in with a cake from somewhere, then later on complained that they had gotten food poisoning, and tried to blame Georgia Blue for the illness. She told me that it was against health department code to bring food in from outside. When I told her that I not only own my own cake business, but am also serve safe certified, and inspected by the health department on a regular basis, and that is not the health departments policy, she started changing her story. Then she said the health department told them that because they serve raw food (oysters... I guess?) they can't allow people to bring in cake. When I told her that we have taken cake into Little Tokyo, Sakura Bana, and several other restaurants that serve raw food with no problem, her response was "well, they must not be following the rules!". They refused to allow us to have our cake, so we left (mostly because the manager was rude about it). We ended up going next door to Ichiban (not exactly what we had wanted for a nice birthday dinner, but not much choice since we had 2 little ones with us that were ready to eat), and they were thrilled to have us. They even brought us a lighter to light the candles, a knife to cut the cake, small plates, and to go boxes to pack leftover cake in. They got cake too!! We spent over $200.00 in Ichiban tonight, and it is a buffet. No telling how much money Georgia Blue forfeited tonight, because they weren't willing to bend even a little. I am sure that with appetizers, entrees, and cocktails it would have been a nice tab. I feel sorry for the waitress that missed out on my overly generous tipping habit! Absolutely zero customer service skills!!! We will never go back. :( read more
