They are great at eye exams and selling glasses, not so good with caring about their customers after they have paid their steep prices in full. Very disappointing. I needed new glasses and contacts and I had heard rave reviews. The eye exam was great, the service to find eye glasses was competent. I decided to splurge on two pairs of glasses and a years supply of contacts and paid in full.I was told it may be two weeks to fill the order. I was promptly emailed a receipt for this significant investment in my optical health. After two weeks and not a word, I figured they needed an extra day or so. I lost track of time and with several key word deadlines, my eyes were straining and I had to breakdown and buy a pair air readers at the grocery story and struggle with old contacts. When I called after three weeks, they said they would look into it. They then informed me that they had my glasses, but not my contact information. This was odd because I had already received an email receipt from them. When they realized that they did have my glasses and contacts, there was no apology or effort to correct this error and inconvenience. I expressed my disappointment due to my expectation that I would receive better service, based in their reputation and price point. They said they would have the general manager contact me. No one called, texted, or emailed me. When I was able to make it to Georgetown to pick up my glasses, again, no effort at service recovery was made and I again expressed my disappointment and was again told that I would be contacted by the general manger. It it now a week out and still not a peep. I'm left with some cool glasses but a very jaded view of them. It was clear that their efforts and interest in customer service ends once the payment has been made. read more

Come here if you enjoy 3rd rate customer service and sales associates that seem like helping customers is beneath them. I purchased a pair of Jacques Marie Mage sunglasses at the Tyson's location (sales associates there were at least decent) ....after trying them out for a day or two I decided that I didn't love them as much as I felt I should for a $760+ pair of sunglasses. I live in DuPont Circle so the Georgetown location was much more convenient for me. I had to visit that location twice and speak with manager in order for them to even consider returning them at this location. Keep in mind I had the box, and receipt etc AND the return policy is for 8 days with a 10% restocking fee, so I had to eat $70.... that seems crazy to me but oh well. The associates working in Georgetown had major attitude. I will never be back in any of the locations. For that price point you'd think you would get at least the most basic of customer service. read more

They said that I have to pay to send them to Germany for replacement temple arms, which would cost 1/3 the price of the frames. Instead, I fixed them myself with epoxy and listed them online for sale. Georgetown Optician basically exists to milk rich people who won't care about most out-of-pocket expenses. read more

I had an 11am appointment today at the Georgetown Optician Office on 14th Street. From my first call until I left out of the door I felt nothing but professionalism and respect. I was greeted courteously. The Gentleman remarked on how he had a shirt just like mine. Lol I was seen immediately by the Best Doctor ever! She gave me several options after a very thorough eye exam. She suggested the most cost efficient contact lenses. I can now see far away and up close for the first time in a while. This will help me amazingly at my workplace. After my appointment the young lady asked what scent I was wearing and said I smelled like a light breeze. I was so pleased with my new contacts that I placed an order. They immediately followed up with an email with my itemized bill. Then another email with both prescriptions. The whole process was less than an hour. After a horrible experience elsewhere, I am so happy that I returned to Georgetown Opticians. I thank everyone there for their excellent expertise and awesome customer service. Managers, executive decisions makers beware of this hostile behavior at your store. While they made an attempt to suggest some options and let me pick some to try out from the locked up displays, it seemed a little half-hearted. The absolute worst experience I've ever had with regards to glasses and lens's! I dropped 2 pair of sunglasses off to get new prescription lens in them. I told The salesman (liar) I was leaving country and needed them before I left. It was 10 days notice. He said straight to me "they will be done way before then". I called on 7th day to check on them. The salesman said 1 pair will be back by Friday the other by Monday for sure. I called on Saturday to see if I can pick up the one pair. Salesman said " oh, those won't be ready until Monday or Tuesday. 2nd pair won't be ready until maybe Friday. Both days are past the day I was supposed to leave country. I couldn't leave without them so I changed my flight. I call Monday which is today. Salesman " oh, the 1 pair won't be ready until Wednesday and 2nd pair maybe next week". I went and got my frames back with my original lens back because I had to leave country. The lied to me from the start, they were charging me 1000.00 dollars for 2 pairs of new lens's which is 400 more than anyone ever has. The continue to lie throughout the whole process. If anyone ever does business with them be prepared to get lied too and ripped off. If there was less stars the 1 I would do it without question. They wouldn't tell me salesman name when I picked up the frames. read more

The Georgetown store on Wisconsin Ave - Worst customer service ever!!!!!! Their selection is amazing, so we went there to look at the Mikyta eyeglasses and I really liked these frames named Gunda. It was priced at $669. I looked at the internet and found the same frames for $ 520. So I called the salesman who had helped us: Armando, and asked him if he would match that price. He said there was no problem and that he would keep them aside for me. He also confirmed an appointment for an eye exam with the Optometrist. The day of the eye exam (today) we came to the store and the frames he had put aside were the wrong ones; he refused to honor the price he had agreed to; the appointment with the Optometrist was not scheduled, and he said it was an honest mistake! The manager there, Juliette, could not give us any solution. We left the store totally upset and disappointed with the whole incompetence of these two individuals. Very uncharacteristic of such a high end store. Would definitely never go back, or recommend them! read more

We had a great experience in 2015 and got a great pair of glasses in 2 weeks. Customer service was outstanding -so much so that we went back in January 2020 for a replacement pair. This time we had a terrible experience with no customer service, glasses that came back wrong after three weeks and shipping that took a week because we refused to return to the store. Bottom line - no one cares despite spend $1,000 and no apparent management oversight or quality assurance. We will never return again and we emplore everyone to take your business some where that will care about you. So disappointing to experience a comedy of errors because no one cared except to take our money. read more

I hate getting new glasses but it was time since my old ones were scratched up and my prescription has changed. I was thinking about just popping out the old lenses and putting new ones in but Chris noticed me browsing around the frames and picked out a few for me to try. I've purchased multiple pairs of eyewear from Georgetown Optician, I believe they have one of the best selections of eyewear in the District of Columbia. However, on mutilple occasions the staff were rude, unaccommodating and extremely unprofessional. I was made to feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I have been buying my glasses from this family company for years. Recently-- for the first time-- a pair of glasses didn't work out. The company does not carry low price frames, as the manufacturers are on the premium scale of frames which for quality and style keeps Georgetown Optician (GO) unique. Well--- one can imagine that returning prescription glasses and frames in such a situation is not simple as it isn't like GO is swapping out 50 dollar frames. I am pleased to say that Pierce and the team at GO worked with me to resolve the situation with nothing but absolute support and understanding. He was committed to getting me the right solution and In turn reinforced my view that GO is the best place to go locally for quality, high end and fashionable frames AND knowledge and customer support. As everyone has noted, Georgetown Optician carries top of the line brands and designer frames, and they are expensive. I go here to see Dr. Matini for exams. He's very straightforward and easy to work with. I use a mono-vision prescription with soft contacts, and they work very well. The exam is thorough, not rushed, and he runs on time. read more

I bought a pair of sunglasses at another retailer and ended up needing a small repair which they couldn't fix. I was referred here and found the staff to be very pleasant and helpful. I was assisted right away and it didn't take long to do the repair. My boyfriend had his glasses slightly adjusted as well and when we asked for the charge there was none. Dr. Matani saw me immediately and he was very efficient, and he also updated my lenses which were not accurate. The woman who helped me get set up was also really nice and helpful. Horrible experience. The knowledge of product from the staff was underwhelming. They had virtually NO opinions about how glasses should work on my face. After 20 min of shopping and I found myself apologizing for taking up there time because they seemed to want to be doing other things. And upon purchasing 550$ frames they could not even be bothered to give me a bag. I walked out with a case in one hand and a receipt in the other. Nice location, some nice frames. I called here to ask if they carried two styles by Oliver Peoples. The man on the phone said "Yeah, we carry lots of Oliver Peoples, I don't know if we carry those specific styles, but you can come in and look." That is very poor customer service. I have been to this store several times and I knew they carried Oliver Peoples, and they do not have so many that you would not know, or be able to check, which styles you carry. When you charge between $200 to over $1000 for your products, you should provide better customer service. read more

Amazing experience and eyeglass repair don't seem like they should go together but in this case they do. Shortly after moving to DC, my 1 month old high-end glasses, bought out of town, were mangled by accident. Though I was certain they were beyond repair and we would get laughed out of the store for even asking, we walked in to Georgetown opticians 1/2 hour before closing. Not laughing (well perhaps a little) a master craftsman set about restoring their shape, in a short time they were good as new. Friendly, accommodating and professional. I had never been into the store until I found several co workers who had great eye glasses and they all said they bought them here. Decided to drive over after work today. I wasn't really paying attention to the time but I walked into the store around 6:56 pm. apparently they close at 7 pm. When I noticed how empty it was I asked if the store was closing. a nice young lady told me yes but I should still browse. Another man, more manager like, brushes past me and locks the door to the store. So I turned to them and asked if I was going to inconvenience them. The woman started to say it's okay, but the man who locked the door looks at me, *rolls his eyes* and walks away. So I walked out. I would have spent around $600 there but instead they get a bad review. My money spends the same as a ritzy older white lady so please respect me the same way. I've never posted a review before but I think the service at this place deserves a review. I needed a pair of glasses asap, it was 3 days before christmas and i needed them before the DMV closed on the eve. I went in on Tuesday and was told that if I had fairly uncomplicated lens (which I do) I could have a pair of new glasses the next day. This was great news! Pearce the optician was lovely and booked me in to see the optician the next day. Great optician, eyes were checked in a very comfy office, frames were picked the night before, now all I had to do was wait 45 mins while they fixed my glasses and voila I walked out with a spanking new pair of specs all done in less then 2 hrs. I think that's great service if you need an emergency pair and you don't have insurance. Obviously you get what you pay for but I was very impressed. read more

I live out of state and bought a frame only that cost $699.00 and had lenses added at home. The frame was made with no screws. The arm on one side kept falling off. I lived with the issue until my next visit to DC and had Georgetown Optician make a repair. I was told that the manufacturer changed the design of the glasses as it was an ongoing problem. Within a few months the same thing happened. I called to ask for a replacement frames as the pair I have seem to be defective. Not possible. I finally got the name of the type of glue used and will have the repair done locally. Bottom line, they do not stand behind their product. These folks are great until you have a problem they don't want to address. read more

If you have money to burn, this is the place for you. For me, when I pay top dollar I expect top notch service. The first set of lenses was incorrect and had to be replaced. When my glasses broke three weeks later, they said they couldn't be repaired for under $700! After haggling and "re-examining" them, they acknowledged that only one part of the frame needed to be replaced and offered to do it for $300, still $200 too much and easily $250 more than their cost. read more
