George's Surf N Turf is a throwback to a bygone era, and I think that time has now gone by for George's. We rarely eat fried food, and when we do, it better be good. We placed our order at the window: * Sea Scallop Plate - $28.95 * Fish Filet Sandwich - (haddock) $9.50 That came to about $41 with tax, and they only accept cash. They have an ATM on the side of the building in case you're a crazy person who typically pays by credit card or phone app! We grabbed a shady spot at one of their many picnic tables. George's has plenty of seating, and a play area for children, both are very nice. They are dog friendly which is also great. Our food order was ready quickly. I carried the tray over to our table. We started by tasty some fries, which were hot and relatively crispy. And that's the best thing we could say about our lunch. The sea scallops were relatively small, and a little dry. The fish portion inside of a hamburger bun was tiny, my co-diner said the amount of fish was a joke. About a month ago we dined at Juicy Seafood in Worcester. The scallops there were excellent and the scallop basket which is similar to George's was $19.95. So next time I'm near George's Surf N Turf, I'm going to keep goin' by, and drive to Juicy Seafood if I'm craving fried scallops. read more

Delicious lobster roll! I love this place, it's casual and family friendly. There is a sand box and playhouse for the kids and lots of grass to run around. It is all outdoor seating. The line can get long but it's worth it. Their prices and portions are good. The lobster roll is 19.99. It was the perfect amount for me, I really enjoyed it. Great casual spot to pick up some delicious fried seafood on the side of Rt-16. Outdoor seating only, but it's covered so even in a drizzle it's entirely doable. The food is delicious, cooked perfectly, and comes out fast. In the winter I always look forward to the weekend that George's will be open and spring will be here. read more

I had ordered 2 Seafood Platters at $34.95. OVER PRICED!!!!! One with the clam belly and the other with clam strips. The only problem was that they both only came with one measly piece of shrimp. I live in CA and every time I come back to visit they are not open. Finally, I came back during the summer and got to have some whole belly clams. I also got an order of onion rings (which to me was the best thing). The clams were good, and I enjoyed the batter, so no complaints. They no longer allow substitutes, so if you want the onion rings you have to get a side order. Definitely not cheap, but I enjoyed the meal, and I am glad that I got the chance to stop over. read more

Looking for a great fried seafood place and don't want to have to travel to a water front town, George's surf N turf is the place to stop. On a really nice summer day the line is usually long but the wait is worth it. The only down side is that is is cash only!!! (So you have been warned to come with cash) luckily though there is an ATM in case you forgot. I think the prices are far for what you get. The outdoor seating is always fun for the family, plus they have a small kids sandbox area. The clam cakes are amazing and one of my favorites to get here! I ordered the seafood platter w/whole belly clams and sea scallops. It was hard to tell what was what. The shrimp looked like clam strips and were disappointing. The whole belly clams were very small and I thought perhaps I received the clam strips instead but did find one with a small belly. The piece of haddock came in small pieces and it was hard to tell what was fish vs. scallops. It's pricey for the quality and I most likely won't go back. read more

I've eaten here for over 20 years. The food, service and sitting outside is great! However, I recently went and were not very happy with my fish sandwich that was ridiculously small. All the other times it was a good size piece of fish. It's one thing to raise prices but to cut portions at the same time makes it "not a good value". My absolute favorite place for summer seafood fare!!!! This has been our go to for decades (back when it was The Redwood)!!! For 2 people we usually go with one seafood platter and one side order of haddock. Along with our frappes it's usually more than enough. The seafood platter comes with haddock, bay scallops, clams (whole or strips), a couple pieces of shrimp, fries and onion rings. Along with coleslaw and sauces. Everything is delicious except the fries...they're just average restaurant fries (nothing hand cut or anything). They have other options too....hamburgers, hot dogs, other seafood options, vegetarian and ice cream!! Always really packed so plan to wait for your food if you go in good weather but they do a good job managing it and the foods pretty good. I will say it's likely not worth the price (everything seafood is expensive for what it is) but it's always fun to go and eat outside over the summer, the ice creams good too. Driven by this place a million times. Always wanted to check it out. I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. Apparently, the whole belly clams were on the small side according to the person behind the counter. It wasn't cheap at $45.50 for two plates for my wife and I. Nothing else like drinks. The portions were good for the price though. Batter was nice and crunchy with a nice briny sea taste. Fries were nicely cooked as well. Personally like them cooked a bit more. Now I'm nitpicking. The seafood has always been amazing - light, crispy batter, perfectly cooked and, until Friday, I thought it was a good value for the price. We went for a late lunch, ordered our usual fisherman's platter ($32.95), no fries, and paid a $8 upcharge for sea scallops, a total of $40.95! Rather than a platter, the food was served on a single plate, four whole-belly clams, two fried shrimp, fish, seven onion rings, and BAY scallops. We'd gone there years ago and enjoyed it. We visited this week and the food was just OK but the amount by of food was disappointing for the money we paid. We got the seafood platter $32, upgraded to the sea scallops ( +$8.00)which increased the price to over $40.00. For $40 dollars we got only 4 fried clams, 2 fried shrimp, the scallops seemed like pieces instead of full size sea scallops and certainly not enough for the $8. upgradeand several chunks of fish. There were enough fries to feed an army. It seemed like that were used as a filler. Over all l felt like we paid way too much for what we received. read more

Classic New England seafood doing it right during the pandemic. Great food, great service, and all the right social distancing. Had the whole belly clams and so sweet. I love George's (formally known as the Redwood). In our family, it's called either/or, depending on what name we remember first. I've been coming here practically since I was born. To this day, I enjoy coming here with family to get great tasting and great priced seafood. Although all seafood dishes are great, I also love their unique daily specials, from the fried mushrooms to their veggie burger and spicy fries. George's Surf & Turf will not disappoint. P.S; along with their soft serve and hard ice cream options, they offer a strawberry shortcake that is to die for (and I believe it is under $4!).
