If you've ever been to Greece, this place might remind you of the small, homely cafes. Granted it is in New Jersey and there's a total Jersey vibe going on, but it's pretty much the best of both worlds. We had the Smoked Salmon Scramble and Tiramisu Waffle. Tiramisu Waffle was wonderful. It wasn't too overwhelming for me, and there's a bit of savoriness with the slight cheesy flavor from the mascarpone but the chocolate syrup was definitely a bit much. Normally, I can't finish a whole sweet breakfast dish, but maybe it was because I rotated with something savory, so I wasn't overwhelmed. The Smoked Salmon Scramble was also nice, but my friend could not stop raving about it. I am a huge fan of bagels overall but this didn't stand out to me, other than the nice presentation and the capers. A bit pricey for small amounts of smoked salmon. May be a bit commercialized, but it manages to retain that small town cafe feel. Prices are surprisingly cheaper than most eateries I've been to in the area, but it is cash only. Conveniently located right across the beach and competes with Uncle Bill's Pancake House (which is more expensive and not worth the money) across the street, but I think this place is so low-key. read more

Delicious, affordable food but lackluster service. Our group of 3 arrived and we were told that they were just flipping a table (we could see the empty dishes) and it would only be a couple of minutes. They forgot about us so it wasn't until after two other tables left and I peeked in that they told us that the table was ready. Our next hurdle was water. The staff has one person clean the tables and reset them and another person take orders and someone else bring them out. I'm a huge fan of clearly defined roles, but that meant it took a long while for someone to come over to us. After about 10 minutes we were offered something to drink and then another 15 minutes after that someone finally came by to take our orders. By that time, a table that was seated after we arrived but had a different server had already gotten salads. When the food arrived it was glorious. Everything that I had remembered PLUS bacon that wasn't fried to a crisp- my favorite. We have been coming to Cape May several times a year for over 20 years. We discovered George's on Beach and Perry many years ago and the new location does not disappoint. It continues to deliver a fantastic Greek menu of delicious plates that are the closest you can get to Greece without boarding a plane. Over the years we've had most of the items on the menu, but if you like lamb chops you will love the ones served a George's. The chef cooks them to juicy perfection with just the right pink center. This is a Cape May gem. Did not expect much to wow me for breakfast. However I was wrong. Let me start with the eggs. Cooked perfectly!! Not just mine because I was watching other plates coming out. The omelettes were cooked perfectly. Not brown or over cooked like 95% of the places you go to. That's primarily why I don't order omelettes anymore, but I will next time I go back. Complementing the dish we're shredded hash browns, again cooked perfectly. Sausage links were tasty. Another highlight was the French toast. Definitely one of the best I've had. Syrup was good too which is important. Kate greeted us when we arrived and was our server and helpful with the menu. Her cheerful disposition only added to the great experience. I have been to all three locations of George's Place including the newest one near the Acme in the Cape May mall. The portions are giant,fresh and tasty. This is a family run business and the family has done an excellent job at bringing fine dining and good value to the Cape May area. Hubs ordered eggs, toast, hash browns with a side of bacon. Truly the most bountiful side of bacon we've ever had. I thought they screwed u and brought 2 orders. Nope. So if you want a side of bacon, there's plenty to share! Toast was extra thick which he loves. Butter was stone cold, which he doesn't. I ordered a breakfast quesadilla, which was delicious, and packed with so much 'stuff' I could only eat half. The tortilla was really light, but nicely crisped. I will never order another one as I know it won't possibly live up to this one! Service was great / there when we needed them, and friendly. Restaurant has kind of an upscale beachfront decor and vibe - much nicer than the standard pancake house decor. We did not have the time for a return visit. Hands down the best meal surprisingly we had on our vacation in cape may! Super authentic gyro with spot on flavor with juicy tender meat and the cooling tzitiki sauce that was made in house. So sad this place has drastically changed. Used to be our favorite, but todays visit was terrible. We were a party of 5 and sat in the back. The ceiling was covered with fruit flies and regular flies were everywhere. Enough to make you lose your appetite. Overall, the place was dirty. We were there third in line as it opened, so you would think it would be at its cleanest for the day. On our first morning in Cape May- we visited George's Place. It's a pretty small spot so be prepared to get there at 8, make reservations (in person or by phone, same day), or wait. This spot is one of the best breakfast and brunch places to visit if you're in Cape May! It's located on a beach road, overlooking the ocean and serves some delicious food at very affordable prices. Stopped in George's Place for Breakfast this weekend...Tough call since its right across the street from Uncle Bills Pancake house...But I knew I had to try George's! It is small and we did have to wait outside a few minutes to be seated, but well worth it! All the servers were very friendly, and the place is decorated with ( i assume) pictures from a local photographer of George's family and some of the staff. Nice homey feel to it... I had George's special, which is 2 eggs, 2 bacon, 2 pancakes home-fries, and a coffee...delicious! My Girlfriend had the Banana and Nutella Waffle...I had a bit...well, more than a bit really...it was excellent! The home-fries were also good! VERY buttery, and VERY tasty! George's place missed 5 stars because the server forgot to bring part of our order, an extra side of home fries. Not a big deal, they took it off the bill without question, but it should be mentioned and i doubt its going to hurt their rating, this is a highly reviewed place with many stars. While you are there, stop out back and take a look at the wall right at the corner of Beach. This was one of the greatest breakfast experiences of my life. A local woman we stayed with overnight recommended this place. We are so glad we followed her advice! Peter took care of us exceptionally well, refilling our drinks, offering helpful suggestions and making friendly conversation. You couldn't ask for better. The pancakes were large, fluffy and delicious - a simple work of art presented with unusually flavorful syrup that didn't taste synthetic or packaged, but fresh and devoid of added sugar. The eggs with salmon were to die for, the potatoes were perfect and the tart berry tea was terrific surprise. It barely needed the stevia I added. My friend was every bit as impressed as I was. This is only getting a 2 because the waffle fries were delicious. Upon arrival, when sitting on our table the entire bench came out. The waiter stumbled apologized, fixed and said just try not leaning on the bench! Really? Don't lean on the bench? How am I supposed to sit. My wife ordered a chicken gyro wrap. The first time it came out, the tzatziki came on the sandwich even though we asked for it on the side. The second time it came out the "house salad" looked different than the house salad that came with my panini. When telling the waiter, he was so embarrassed. My wife took ONE bite of the gyro and didn't eat the rest of it. There was absolutely no flavor in the chicken. The waiter asked if everything was okay and we told him it was tasteless. He saw my wife eating my panini. Clearly he knew that we weren't happy. It's so sad to have such a horrible experience at a restaurant we have been looking to have for weeks. He ate half the pancakes dry before the rest of his food arrived. The 2 eggs he finally got looked like only 1 egg when they finally arrived. No butter was put on the toast with my omelette either and no one came by until half my food was gone, so I went without. The breakfast potatoes turned out to be tater tots--the worst of the possible potato options my husband and I agreed. For some reason, we were there an excessive amount of time as a few tables around us had 2 groups of people come and go while we were there. Spent two days in Cape May for a mini getaway with my wife recently. Saw this place on Triple D and had to give it a try. We checked them out on Yelp and decided we needed to get ourselves some breakfast. Long wait because the place is very very small, but it's cute inside. Food is very reasonably priced. I got the bananas foster pancakes and a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich and my wife got the waffles nutella. Everything was delicious, but I have to say the bananas foster pancakes were something special. Super warm, soft and fluffy and the flavor of the bananas was insane. Definitely a must try. Would love to go back again soon, but it'll probably be awhile. The dinner looks so good on TV. Hopefully I'll get to try it sometime and upgrade this to a 5 star rating! read more

Just finished lunch with friends. ..really a great place. We'd been here before and knew how fresh the food was. ..the 5 year old twins each had pancakes. Two each, the size of a dinner plate. Needless to say, each child only ate one. The adults ordered a Mediterranean salad (huge and fresh which was quite difficult to eat as it also took up the entire plate), grilled cheese, a cheeseburger, and the small greek salad/hummus sampler. Everyone really enjoyed their food, and sizes were huge. The cheeseburger was served with fries and the grilled cheese was served with veggie sticks.
