probably the best breakfast spot in cleveland, hometown diner with amazing pancakes and friendly service. minimal frills but if you're into a good greasy spoon place, this is the spot to go!

George's Super Special ($7.95): bacon, eggs, and pancakes -- on Tuesday, 25 April 2023

QUICK REVIEW -- Simple and delicious diner food. HUGE inside with plenty of room to sit including sitting at the counter. Quantity is average and similar to most diners (not too much and not too little food). The server Cindy was really nice and attentive (5/5 for Cindy). I first visited in April 2023 and then I visited again in July 2023, both times for breakfast. I've had their orange juice, french toast, omelets, tried their pancakes, eggs, and bacon combo (George's super special at $7.95). Their french toast is my favourite item on their menu and it is topped with powdered sugar. I certainly will be back as this is one of the most affordable restaurants in Cleveland that I've been to and it's very decent food. I recommend this local and small business. **** - 83/150 total reviews in 2023 - 634 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 9 November 2023

The waitress was very friendly and very attentive. The food was delicious. I ordered the veal parmesan. I love a lot of sauce and for the first time going to a restaurant I didn't have to ask for extra. I also got beef barley soup and a side salad. It was just the right amount of food with a little left over. It's a cozy neighborhood restaurant that is a must try.

My fav!! Corn, beef Reuben sandwich 20/10 !!!

Best place to eat, the employees very nice and friendly... extremely recommend. I love everything from this place

The food was delicious and the bill was only 22 bucks. The food came out fast and the service was great.

It was ok. Ravioli was frozen, coke tasted like generic, potato pancakes were frozen hash browns, overall sad first experience.

After running the Cleveland Marathon we knew we needed to eat and no where better for breakfast than Grumpys. The huevos rancheros with sunny side up eggs is perfect, so perfect 2 of us ordered it, blueberry pancakes on the side with the Mexican omelette for my husband. The eclectic vibe is great, the menu is classic with a fresh twist. If it's nice enough you can sit on the enclosed patio. Oh and a dedicated parking lot for guests is a bonus all in itself. (No photos we were too busy eating).

The coffee is always good. I believe they use Caruso's. And it's so fun to see what mug you get because they are all different! Seating is very tight, walls are covered in art. Very eclectic place. Nothing really grumpy about it! Our server was so sweet, friendly, and personable. She was the best. Like I want to be her friend! Our food came out pretty quick. I got the eggs Florentine. Yummmmm !!! I'm always a little iffy ordering eggs for a restaurant, but they poached it perfectly for my liking! Just runny enough! And they were so sweet to give me a brownie for my birthday :,) I love this place!

This place is a one stop shop for many Cleveland classics both original and vegan versions…read more My pre-trip research brought this place to my attention. I wanted to try the pierogi and the Polish boy and the KRAUT and having an extensive beer menu doesn't hurt either. Friendly neighborhood watering hole literally on the corner and basically across the street from the a Christmas story house allowing you to eat within eye sight of the leg lamp. I wanted basically everything from the menu that came vegan (spoiler alert there are tons and tons of things) but gastric space comes at a premium on vacation so we settled on the fried cheese. I was very excited to see the Polish boy (and vegan option no less) I didn't have much of a choice. GF ordered the vegan pierogi platter with vegan kielbasa on a bed of kraut. Firstly the fried cheese was head and shoulders above any mozz sticks or anything of the sort that I have had in memory. The breading is seasoned and crispy and heaven on earth. The cheese is PIPING. Like you will burn yourself if you, like me, have no patience. The accompanying tomato sauce is also steaming. So good. The Polish boy was also in a league of its own. Love that they have a vegan version. What a combo. Probably one of Cleveland's most important community contributions. We ordered the latkes to go and they were orgasmic. What a special place.

I loved the little small- town feel it gave. Will be back next time I'm in Cleveland. Only taking a star off because of the parking, no (real) iced coffee, and another reason

Be nice to your waitstaff and tip generously! Eating brunch here on Sunday before going apple…read morepicking reminded me of just how hard they work and how terrible so many people treat these lovely folk. That's my PSA for today. As for everything else, this little diner is definitely locally owned and locally loved. It was only a few minutes from the farm I took my bf to go apple picking on the far east side of Cleveland. FYI!!! - The menu online is incredibly outdated!! Each thing is about 50% more expensive. Use the attached menu pictures to get an accurate idea of prices in late 2025. This is no longer a cheap place to eat. :( After about 15 minutes of waiting, we were sat at the counter right next to the cash register and could hear everything the staff said. I was enlightened as to how terrible they are treated by stingy, entitled customers. I felt terrible about my impatience at getting seated and getting our food but it seems like all the staff and cooks were just burnt out today. They still did a pretty good job at making yummy food though! My bf got a skillet with home fries and wheat toast. This was a lot of food and the toast was very thicccc and very heavily buttered. I ordered a gyro salad with tzaziki sauce and it came with buttered triangles of pita bread. Since we weren't prepared for the price changes, we just got water to drink. We both were shocked at how LARGE the portions were! The gyro meat was so good and the pita bread was nice and lightly buttered. My bf was a huge fan of the sausage in his skillet. Because we didn't want to leave the food in the car for a few hours, we ate everything and did not have leftovers although we could have! Not sure how well my gyro salad would taste as leftovers though so it was probably best I ate everything. Lastly, I made sure to thank them and tip generously. I hope everyone else there did the same. I ended up paying about $42.

The main dining area was full the side area was getting full. Our server was very friendly. Hometown vibes. The portions were large. We ended up taking some home. O tried my husband's sausage and biscuits. The biscuits were delicious ! Fluffy and perfect. The gravy was good. It needed a bit more flavor via spices like salt and pepper. Easy to add, but better cooked in. I had the Hercules gyro with eggs and wheat toast. Loved the seeded wheat thick toast. The tzatziki sauce was very nice. Gyro meet was tasty. The shredded hash towns were perfectly cooked. My mother in law got the godfather. The guido Italian sausage looked good and she said it was great. Would definitely come back!
