My son and I stopped in for lunch while on an impromptu road trip. I'm always on the lookout for good places to stop on the ol' 62/82 and was very pleased with our choice. This is a family-friendly place with a mix of "old-fashioned diner" (complete with a pie-by-the-slice display case) and sort of Greek-ish decor elements. We ordered the #3 jumbo burger combo with tater tots and everything came out great. Not gourmet by any means, but just good food that was well-prepared and quite tasty. We arrived at the tail end of the lunch hour on a Saturday and had to wait just a little longer than I suspect is usual, but nothing outrageous. However, the staff were very courteous and friendly the whole time and we were well taken care of. We left knowing we'd found a great place to stop whenever we're out that way again. read more

Tried George's for the first time since the location was convenient. Had really high hopes. One star for the drive thru employee being really nice and an appetizer sampler and that was pretty decent. Opened my entree (beef quesadillas) and found a hair buried in my rice, and the quesadillas were terribly dry. For a $30 dinner (two dinner entrees and appetizer sampler) I was really disappointed. read more

Oh George...my last visit to the panhandle we ate at one of your restaurants in 3 different towns (Lubbock, Ralls, Post) in that order, for three meals in a row. If that doesn't mean your food is delicious, I don't know what does! I love getting a double cheeseburger, no bun with a side of onion rings. They make a mean burger. I tried the catfish this last time, and I was impressed with that as well (whoooaaaa lots of food). The breakfast is on par with the best diners from here to NYC, I would know. And they have free, Dairy Queen-like ice cream...with cups or cones...whichever suits your fancy. You just can't go wrong with George! read more

Absolutely horrible. The customer service is bad, management is bad and the owner is a joke. I had an incident where I was miss a burger from my order and I didn't realize it until I got home. I went back and they said they were closed and would not cook the other burger. I asked for a refund and they would not do that since I had already drove off. I called the owner and he told me to take it up with the manager and never took my calls again. The only reason we ever went here in the first place was because it's pretty much the only restaurant in town. The food is not very good and they allow people to smoke in the dining area. For a MUCH better experience, go eight miles east to Charlie's in Crosbyton. read more

Georges has decently friendly staff, nice decor but, they food isn't something I would go out of my way for. And the it is over priced for its quality. I have had their famous large sized burgers, they are large but, virtually tasteless. The tacos have the same flavored hamburger meat as the burgers, nothing Mexican about them. I went there once again and had the philly cheese steak, I ordered one to go for my husband at the same time. I don't know how it happened but the bread was soooo oily. The onion rings were overcooked. The food made both myself and my husband sick to our stomach that night. I won't be eating there again. read more

We ordered 3 kids plates, one burger combo, and steak finger basket....3 kids drinks, one soda and a water. Fries were good...that's about it. The total came to $48 and some change. I added only $2.50 tip since it was already so much. When I looked at the receipt, they had charged a 15% gratuity on top of what I gave! This place is a dump! The waitress was very nice and hard working but she was the only one their besides the cook. We won't be back. Ridiculous pricing!! read more

Used to be Greek food. Now lukewarm TexMex prepackaged. But not much else between Lubbock and Wichita Falls and we were hungry.

I've been in here quite a few times in the past couple of years. I have to admit that a lot has changed just this year. The atmosphere is a lot better, cleaner. The bathrooms still stink however. If you want to NOT swat at flies, I suggest not dining near the windows. There has been a little remodeling done this past summer. New manager too. I think the original owners took it over again. Food is still a little pricey, but not as high as it was under previous management. I've been in during all shifts and must say there is a difference in cooks and wait staff. Sometimes you get what you want, other times not so much. 50/50 on orders screwed up vs wait staff forgetting something. Staff is getting better. I've noticed two Hispanic ladies, usually in the morning, who work hard to get things right. Charlotte has been my waitress a majority of the time. She'll make you feel at home. When it's not busy, she'll pull up a chair and visit with you. Very rarely have I seen that. She can be a bit mouthy though but in a good sense. Only when you get to REALLY know her will she let her mouth run. Ex. She talks and kids around like a trucker. But when other customers are around, she can be professional. She can also be a bit of a flirt. But I don't mind! Maria who may just be a cook/manager, looks like she is always mad. When she's getting on to the wait staff, she seems to do it out in the open. Very unprofessional in my opinion. She tends to talk about the staff as if they are all... well its not very nice. She can cook a mean burrito though. Unlike some of the other cooks. Ana who's just recently come back is a bit of a flirt. But she can tend to forget about you if it starts to get busy. There are other staff but Charlotte and Ana are why I return. Back to the food. If you like Mexican I suggest the Fajitas. Breakfast, burritos or pancakes. The biscuits aren't bad either. Steaks aren't all that great. The burgers are awesome. I've heard a customer talk about getting it east side style. Apparently that's how he always gets it. Nachos are ok. I wouldn't recommend the enchiladas because the meat is too fine, too salty, and too greasy. Price is a little up there. Be ready to spend a little more than $10 for most lunch and dinners. All in all, it's well worth the visit if you're ever driving through. I'd give it ten stars if Charlotte and Ana would give me their numbers. Lol just kidding! read more

Drove through on our way back to DFW. What a find! Husband had chicken fried steak and he was very pleased. Hand breaded steak, real tasty mashed potatoes and real green beans. Two of us ordered hamburgers and they were great. We will be back. read more
