As we were waiting for the rest of the group, I decided to order a beer, and they had some Georgian ones. I went with the $6 Shavi Lomi, a helles, which was tasty. They also had Kazbegi along with some more standard beers and a good variety of Georgian wine. For non-alcoholic drinks, there were a few brands of Georgian lemonade (Natakhtari/Zandukeli), along with sodas, compote, and other options. The first to arrive was the $9.99 Acharuli Khachapuri, or as many other places spell it, Adjaruli. This boat-shaped bread, which was filled with two types of cheese, arrived with some butter and a raw egg on it, as is typical. The waitress mixed the two types of cheese with the egg and butter well, and we dug in. Outside of the very reasonable price for the size, it was standard and good, with a nice stretchy texture and a good bit of salt but not too much. The other appetizer was the Assorted Pkhali for $16.99, with eggplant, spinach, and beets with walnuts. The dish came with six pieces of the nigvziani badrijani, or rolled eggplant, as well as two each of the spinach and beet pkhali. All were filled with a mixture of ground walnuts, spices, and plenty of herbs and topped with a couple of pomegranate seeds. This was an excellent version with plenty of garlic and herbs, and as usual, my favorite was the spinach, followed by the eggplant and then the beets. The rest of the dishes we ordered were all from the hot dishes section and were all $14.99. Our favorite was the Shkmeruli, or fresh chicken in garlic sauce. The dish was presented a bit more uniquely than at other places, with the chicken broken up into 7 or so pieces. This was nice as it made it easy to split and left all the meat bathing in the delicious, rich, garlicky sauce on the bottom. There was also some toasted bread for a bit of crunch, all topped with minced garlic for extra flavor. The chicken was very tender, and the sauce was well flavored, with this being the closest to, or tied with, the much more expensive Saperavi. We also got the excellent Pork Ojakhuri, simply listed as pork and potatoes, with a Sokos version available with mushrooms instead of pork also for the same price. The meat was cooked nicely, and it had a bit of smokiness. The very hot potatoes were soft and tender, with the dish also containing grilled onions, chopped scallions, and plenty of herbs. The potatoes and onions had plenty of flavor, presumably from being cooked in the same pot as the pork. There was also the Kupati, listed as Georgian-style sausages. The dish came with three sausages split in half, with some raw onion and pomegranate seeds on top. Compared to other spots, the meat felt a bit less ground, so it felt a bit richer, with larger pieces of pork fat. I didn't mind this, but some others disliked the chewier texture of the large pieces. The spices helped cut this richness, and overall, I enjoyed it. Last and least was the Chashushuli, or veal stew with fresh tomatoes and herbs. We asked for their recommendation between a few stews, and she said that one was her favorite. From previous experience, I tend to find the broth in this stew pretty watery, and this was not an exception here, which made it a bit harder to split. We added some $2 Regular Bread to sop up the sauce and also used a couple of pieces of the remaining Khachapuri. The meat was very tender inside, and there was a nice mix of herbs, while the tomatoes added some sweetness. This was our least favorite, but I partially expected that going in, and going by how well all the meat was cooked, I think I would have preferred the Lulya or something else grilled. This was a reasonably priced and tasty Georgian spot, with my only major complaint being that it was a schlep to get to. The prices were low, the staff was friendly, and the food was excellent. It's difficult to complain about this place.

**Real Georgian food, right in Bay Ridge**…read more I am Georgian, so I know our food -- and Ubani is the real deal. We had the megruli khachapuri, amazing khinkali, and the best mixed shish kebab, plus more. Everything tasted like home: fresh, generous portions, full of flavor. The atmosphere is the warmest and friendliest -- cozy, welcoming, and the staff treats you like family. This is the kind of place that makes you proud of Georgian hospitality. The best Georgian restaurant in Bay Ridge, hands down. We will be back!

Beet salad was a hit served with big chunks of tender beets. I'm not sure if they boiled and chilled the beets or used another technique to soften them up, but it came out nicely. This time we opted for the khachapuri imeruli. It was delicious. I've yet to come across a khachapuri that I've disliked. Dough was crispy and flakey. Cheese was melty and gooey. Always such a cozy delight. We had the khinkali again - this time with cheese filling. It's a nice vegetarian friendly option, but I prefer the meat or vegetable blend fillings. Cheese in the khinkali was similar to the khachapuri, so it was redundant to order the two together. Would definitely recommend the khinkali but would pick a different filling if you're getting khachapuri. For the main course, we shared the shkmeruli - a roasted chicken in a creamy garlic sauce. I've seen this listed as chicken tabaka elsewhere. It was excellent! Less garlicky than the one I had a Saperavi earlier in the week. Chicken was juicy but the sauce was the star. We dipped the nipples of the khinkali in the sauce to maximize usage. Good list of Georgian wines. Full bar plus some beers including a Georgian one. Service brought out the dishes in a well paced manner. They were very patient as we lounged in their backyard. It was a very comfortable outdoor dining set up. There is one, spacious single occupancy restroom.

The cheeseboat is perfect for one person, but it can get a bit heavy from all the cheese. My favorite one was either the leek or chicken cheeseboat, the leek was so flavorful and shined in the cheeseboat. The lamb chakapuli entree was delicious but the lamb was tough to chew and was hard, the stew tho was good especially dipped with the bread. I would skip on this the next time I come. The apricot juice was amazing! It comes with fresh apricots and the drink wasn't too sweet. Service was good, the waiter checked up on us frequently and always came to refill our water.

In the last few weeks, I have been to three Georgian restaurants, and this one may be the antithesis to everything I have tried up to this point. Because this restaurant is in Williamsburg, expect some hipster flair with some great food. Fortunately, Cheeseboat delivers on both fronts. This is the restaurant that introduced me to Khinkali, or Georgian soup dumplings. Six to a plate, these are outrageously, sinfully, delicious. Not terribly hot, but have terrific flavor that are not filling at all. Everybody should order these when they come here. The Shkmeruli is terrific as well. Full of flavor, amazing spice, the chicken is moist and juicy. I easily butchered this because I did not want to leave any meat on the bone. Unfortunately, the bread it comes with is a bit salty for my liking, but the chicken is the star, and that is why it can be recommended. Of course, you know what is coming next. I have been on the hunt for Khachapuri since I cannot get enough of this bread now. Everything I said previously I rescind (kidding), but seriously. This is dynamic. It is hot and stays hot. So much cheesy flavor and full of deliciousness I could not stop eating it. It is good for one person. This is not to be shared. I would like to take a moment to recognize my server, Liza, now. Pretty, exuberant, full of joy and confidence, with an intelligent aura around her, I think I fell in love with her each time she passed my table. Sonny from the film, "A Bronx Tale" once said every man meets three great women in their lifetime. Sometimes they come all once, sometimes they come around every 10 years. She is definitely someone who is going to make someone very happy one day. It was a joy to have her serve me. How often have I been giving out five star reviews lately? A lot, I know. However, you deserve the truth, and this restaurant does not tell a lie. Liza and all, this is the five star experience.

The ambiance is upscale, and it matches the higher price point. We did the 2-course lunch for $30. I got the aubergine rolls and chito gvrito khachaouri. My friend got the nadugi tomato and kalakuri khinkali. This was my first time trying Georgian food, so I cannot speak to the authenticity of the flavors. I would only recommend the aubergine rolls if you really love eggplant. It had a balanced flavor profile, but I wouldn't order them again. If your party is down for sharing, I think both main dishes were much better shared. The chito gvrito was TERRIFIC! However, a person can only handle so much richness (hence my comment to share). The dumplings also had an extremely tasty filling, but the ratio of dough to filling was way off. I prefer a thinner dumpling shell, especially when the dough isn't flavored, so it's not adding anything to the experience. For restaurant week, they were offering half-portion desserts for $5, so we got a slice of the Ideali cake. It was fine, just not for me because I don't like nutty desserts. Our server commented that he couldn't taste the nut flavor, so I would only recommend to those who like the nut flavor! Yes, we were the only ones in the restaurant, but our server was awesome! He explained the menu well, and he followed up with us multiple times. I would love to come back to try more dishes!

You had a tough week and you are in the mood of going heavy alcohol and food wise. Georgian cuisine...is...hangover cuisine. Take a look at the menu and you will understand. The cheese platter is served with no condiments...and it is veeeeery salty...it is just how it is. A side of fruits or some type of confit or even honey would have been amazing, but it is not a thing in Georgia...according to ChatGPT. On the plus side...you won't feel the effects of the alcohol. It will hamper the booze...you won't throw up, guaranteed. The salt and the fat will save you. I was planning on drinking their wine and I'm happy I did. I dont know what I drank, but the fact that I drank a UNESCO designated wine, makes me feel proud of myself. I got the dumplings; they are massive and delicious...but again...no condiments...just straight dumplings. No dipping sauce, nothing. It is not customary in Georgia and that's that. Thick dough, flavorful beef filling, and of course lots of wine to wash it all down...I am happy enough. That's all I was in the mood for really. Yes, if I am in the neighborhood again, I would return... I appreciated that they allowed me in, despite wearing shorts and a sweaty t-shirt, and sneakers. Normally restaurants are finicky about the dress code. Waiter was exquisite, worth the tip. The food is excellent don't get me wrong. And if you have kids, they will love it. What kid doesn't like fatty and salty food! Especially after a day at the beach. Reservations are recommended. The chicken stew....it was great but very bony. They dont debone the chicken, so it is annoying to eat. You have tiny bones to deal with. Just a caveat.

There is more I could write here, but I think getting to the point here is better than me droning on and on about a cuisine that I am still fairly new to. The service is friendly as well. I would just be careful as seating is limited and it does get busy, which does mean people agree and think the food is good here. Safe to say I think I am back in the New York Groove.
