My fill was super precise, neat, and sleek. It's honestly the best French set I've gotten in Chico in the past three years. Prices are very reasonable, the salon is well ventilated with no strong polish fumes, nicely organized and clean and there's plenty of free parking right out front. He shaped my nails and did a good job on the cuticles but he pulled the tools out from under the table and sprayed them with what I am assuming was rubbing alcohol. They were not in a sealed packet like I'm used to seeing. I could also see that the buffing pad that he used had been used before. That made me a little uncomfortable. The pedicure was a really bad experience for me. The woman did a good job of clipping, filing and cuticle trimming, and this time the tools did come out of a sealed packet, however, when she started to use the pumice stone, I pointed out that I had a thick callous on my big toe and asked her to pay a little extra attention to that. she started rubbing on it really hard and fast like she was sanding a table. It really hurt and I asked to stop. I ended up with a wound on my toe when she was done (see photo). When she started to polish my nails, she noticed the wound and looked at me and shrugged like "oh well". I will never go back.

Perhaps its because im a little older, I am used to and prefer the original look of the French manicure. The top coat was more of a natural look, the tint was definitely not so pink. Ive never had the actual acrylic in pink. It was always more clear. Not a fan. I wanted more of a natural shape and after asking 2x, they still feel pointed. Its been awhile since Ive gotten nails done so I had no idea you had to ask for a manicure/cuticles treated separately. A few yrs ago they automatically soaked your hands, treated and trimmed your cuticles. Perhaps its just this place, I don't know, but will be looking into that elsewhere. After getting home I started seeing all of the little things. She did go EXTREMELY quick and almost never looked at what she was doing when she was filing. She was constantly looking around the room or at her phone and it shows. The bed of every nail is filed flat so my nails almost feel like soft squares. There are parts where theres no acrylic which creates rough edge and the perfect place for hangmails to start, which is definitely going to happen. Its very tender from the filing. Where theres no acrylic the nails are catching on things already. Funny enough the right hand has the opposite problem, there is acrylic over my cuticles (because they weren't trimmed) and looks terrible and hurts...kinda bad actually. I left her a great tip and am now regretting it. She had greats reviews which is why I chose her but I think I just need to find a better shop. One that still believes in including cuticle and hand care as part of the experience especially for what you pay nowadays. The lady who did my pedicure was also so sweet, there was a language barrier, but if you're a decent human being it's nothing to stress over. Never, not once did they make us feel terrible about getting our pedicures. My toes haven't felt this great in years! 10/10 I would recommend this place. The sweet lady even offered us drinks while we were getting our pedis and candy while we checked out. Simple acts of kindness/service go a long way and this salon has mastered them.
