Had high hopes for this place. Room was disgusting, piss in bed and mold in bathroom. They stuff 8 people in a 10x10 ft room and charge you 6 euros to "rent" a towel. Hotel staff is rude and all they care about is money. Also, they don't allow you to bring in any food because they want you to spend money in their terrible restaurant. Location is far from everything. Would leave 0 stars if i could. Left after the first night and booked a hotel for the same price. read more

If and when I return to Paris, I want to stay here! I felt very safe here during my trip to Europe( I arrived in Paris from London after the London Bridge attack and when there was an unfortunate event a Notre Dame). The hostel had great customer service at the front desk, the grill, and at the in-house club. Breakfast wasn't that appealing, but acceptable. I only have three negatives to share about the experience. Over all it a beautiful facility. I loved the layout of the two person room. It was very neat to see the open air smoking area they have prior to entering the restaurant. I hope to have the same experience if I ever book with another Generator Hostel elsewhere in Europe. Pros: 1.Secruity: The staff constantly checked for your key cards, especially during the times the club was open. 2. Customer Service 3.Location: It was very close to a subway station, which was very convenient for tourist. Cons: 1. Laundry services: 6 washer and 3 dryers. Only two washers worked and one dryer was available during my visit. It wasn't very practical to have so few machines available for 8 floors of tourist and half didn't worked. When I washed my clothes on my last night, there was a line of 5 other visitors waiting for different machines. I started my laundry around 10:30pm and didn't finished until 1am the next morning due to waiting. 2. Food and Drink selection: Breakfast was ok, nothing to rant about. There were many options for individuals with different diets. ( Lactose Intolerance( I love cereal but not whole milk), vegan, et cetera.) The bartenders had a very limited knowledge of mixed drinks. It was sad not to have your favorite drink, but I dealt with it. 3. Presentation: I stayed on the seventh floor, if I recall. They were doing renovations of some sort. The halls were dimly lit and covered in tarps and paint buckets. It was minor demerit in my opinion. read more

We were very disappointed in Generator Dublin. Our flights from the U.S. were canceled and with the quarantine we were forced to cancel our trip. Generator did not refund our money even though I had a Booking.com agent talk with them weeks in advance so they would have had plenty of time to re-book the room. While we had gotten a non-refundable room, these extenuating circumstances call for a little grace. (We had also booked another non-refundable room somewhere else in Dublin at the beginning of our trip through Booking.com and were reimbursed in full--for three times what we spent at Generator.) When we can finally make it to Ireland, we will not be giving Generator any of our business. Very inconsiderate. read more

L'Generator was such a dope hostel! Conveniently located a few steps away from the metro stop with a huge sign that you can't miss- also makes it easy to communicate your destination with cab drivers when you don't have access to Uber. We stayed in an 8-bed, which had our own walk-in shower and separate toilet. There were also bathrooms on our floor that we used occasionally and were actually way cleaner than our personal bathroom since they are cleaned multiple times daily by staff. There's a club in the basement which was an absolute blast, bartenders were great and allowed guests to plug in their phones for music. We didn't get a chance to eat at the cafe that's near the lobby, but after browsing the menu it seemed extremely pricey. Guaranteed to find cheaper, better food options outside of the hostel. We met so many new friends and the staff was so sweet and accommodating. I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone that is skeptical about them or has not stayed in one- my best friends and I had the most amazing experience and are planning on staying at other Generator hostels across the world!! read more

What a wonderful place to stay while in Paris! The room was very clean and spacious with its own terrace to enjoy the cityscape. Checking in was very easy and everyone was very friendly and helpful. It is also very close to the Metro which we took everywhere for our sightseeing. I'd recommend The Generator for anyone, old or young. They have their own bar and restaurant and I felt very safe. This is not your typical hostel by any means! read more

Really nice place!The location is perfect for touring in the central of the city. Nice and friendly staff.The room is clean and neat.

After staying at 2 of the other generator locations we were expecting Paris location to be the same.  We were greeted with over an hour wait to check in due to the line(it was there almost every day.) Not sure what is going on but the line just never seemed to die down.  The hallways and staircases smelled like cigarettes, and there were cigarette butts on the ground in the stairwell.  Our room smelled like cigarettes every night.  The room was pretty clean for the most part. The first 3 days we were there the cards were deactivated daily.  I was given a less than enthusiastic attitude when I asked the front desk what happened and was told she can't help me because she was busy.  One of her colleagues got us new cards. When our room was cleaned,  2 times the beds were separated, and my charger and phone were left on the floor, the charging cable for my watch was pinched in the nightstand which they folded up to separate the beds.  The books were carelessly tossed to the side as well. The view was great from the 7th floor, so that was cool, but not worth staying unless they up their service to be similar to that of Amsterdam, or Dublin.  2 stars is based on the fact that it wasn't bad enough to rebook and leave, but I certainly would not stay at the Paris location again. read more

Generator Hostels have done it again! Big up to them. Paris Hostel has only been open four months so perhaps the first poor review caught them out, or maybe the reviewer didn't get Generator. This is a great alternative for singles, groups and families with kids alike. Cheap rates, really friendly staff and the usual quirkiness Generator brings. The common room is a melting pot of the world with so many nationalities and everyone speak with each other. The showers are great and the location is only a hundred metres from the Metro. Ten minutes and you're downtown. We are a large family so had a room to ourselves so it was only me snoring! The breakfasts need a little tweaking but all in all Generator awarded a Top Banana status. Well done. read more

This is a nice hostel, don't get me wrong. Rooms are clean and safe, so if that's all you need, you'd be fine here. Amenities are solid too, at least at first glance. Neighborhood is a little sketch, but nothing dramatic. But the rules are asinine. I mean, truly ridiculous. And they're enforced by bouncers who are CERTAIN they guarding the president. I checked in late my first night, and they obviously didn't have any food, so I asked for a local spot and was recommended the kebab shop across the street. Great food, sure, BUT I WASN'T ALLOWED TO BRING IT INSIDE. Seriously. I ate my kebab on a dirty park bench rather than the million tables they have to sit at. Then the next night I wanted to Skype with my girlfriend and grabbed a glass of wine from the bar. I went up to the restaurant area - which Special Agent Tootough told me was okay - only to be bumped by the cleaners, who said I had to go to the lounge while they cleaned. Fine, one flight of stairs. Then 10 minutes later Tootough shows up and is telling me I couldn't drink it in the quiet and comfortable lounge. I'm sorry, I thought this was France. Aren't they into wine here? Bottom line: nice place, good decor, safe and inexpensive. But I'll still never come back. I'd prefer to be treated like an adult. read more

I'm in the middle of a 3 night stay here. This hostel is great! I had to come to Paris for work so came a few days early solo. Hostel seemed appropriate so I could meet some people. Met awesome people here, the staff is great, security makes you feel safe. They have a really decent kitchen, a bar and club and rooftop bar as well! A nice view of a garden in the back. The rooms are as clean or cleaner than home or any hotel you'll stay at. Beds are decent with USB plug and European plug. Tons of plugs down on the main floor in the hangout room. Good location as well. I'm a walker, 2 miles is great for me. 2 mile (safe) walk takes you to the seine and Norte dame, the louvre, moulin rouge and the base of Montmartre. Can't go wrong here! Also a decent sized locker for your stuff! read more

The air conditioning was broken both nights we stayed and there was no fan. When we arrived we were told to keep the windows closed so the air conditioning could work. When I went down at 1am because our room was boiling, they confirmed the air conditioning had not been fixed. I requested a refund but have had no response. read more

Good living environment with horrible customer service. Paris is known for it's horrible customer service toward foreigners, this place approves everything to be true. My problem is mainly with a black guy who looks a frond desk manager. He doesn't speak any French, his English accent shows he is probably from Africa. Because of his heavy African accent, he had run into some misunderstand with my friend from Pakistan. My friend was talking to him kindly, but this guy started to yelling at him in the hostel lobby. I was shocked. Get rid of this guy, this could be a pretty good place to stay. read more

Great room! We had a private double on the 6th floor. I felt like it was very safe and well-enough located. The actual room was great for the price, very nicely decorated and large. However the staff was pretty terrible. We had no hand soap in our room (which I need to be able to wash my hands to take my contacts in and out), when I told the front desk they said they couldn't do anything but make a note for housekeeping. I landed early, got to the hostel around 10AM, was told check-in not until 2PM... which is pretty late, but whatever. But they literally would not give anyone keys until at 2pm... which I get in the interest of fairness, but there were ONLY 3 people waiting... seems like maybe you could just coordinate?! Also, rooftop bar closes at 10PM, sun still isn't down... so much for that rooftop sunset. Breakfast was GROSS, the coffee was undrinkable and not once was the water container filled. Bar/Cafe hardly ever open, we went once and were told they were counting the drawer and to come back in 10 minutes, came back after 20 and the guy finally let us order. We got the nachos, comes with gauc, salsa, and sour cream. They didn't have salsa or sour cream, but didn't tell us and just gave it to us without all the ingredients. OH AND this is the only hostel I have ever stayed at where they don't let you bring ANY food in --like they literally search any bag you bring in. They say service in Paris is bad... but honestly the only bad service we had the whole trip was from the hostel. read more

This hostel had everything we were looking for - good location near a few different metro stops, quick access to key parts of the city, sizable storage inside the rooms, and laundry facilities. The rooms were clean and the front desk was 24/7 so you could talk to someone at any time. The only thing I didn't like about this hostel is that the rooftop bar is open to the public and is essentially a pickup spot where Parisian men come to pick up young travelers like us. It made us feel uncomfortable to go to the bar because we were constantly being badgered, and made it feel a little like predator/prey. The other hostel guests were also generally very young - I would say around 19-20 - so even only being 23yrs old we felt like we were a little too old for everyone else there. All in all though, we had a pretty positive experience and I think we would stay here again. read more

The nicest hostel I have seen. Great security, nice front-desk staff, big lockers and a ton of outlets, showers/bathrooms in each room and many options for dorms (6 bed female, 6 bed mixed, 4 bed private, etc). They also have a study lounge, a bar and a restaurant. The location isn't necessarily the best if you want to be right in the middle of the action but I thought it was perfect as it is right next to the metro station and a lot quieter (and cheaper) than the touristy parts of Paris. Only letdown was they advertised a bunch of activities they were going to hold, like a beer tasting, but didn't really follow through with any of the activities. Overall a great find. read more

Walked in to our hostel room and there were pubes on our unmade beds. Not to mention the sheets that were already on the beds had blood and makeup stains. Not a good look at all. Hallways have the dimmest lighting I can barely see where I'm going. There is mold in our shower. I've been here 10 minutes and I already have so many complaints. read more

For my first time in Paris, I stayed at Generator Hostel Paris. I stayed in a coed room with 7 other travelers. Bunk beds and drawer lockers are assigned, guests are supplied with sheets, pillow, comforter. You can bring your own lock or purchase one for €6. Each bunk bed has a nightlight you can manually turn on, a USB port and an outlet for a travel adapter. Each room gets a bathroom, however no soap for sinks. There are also common bathrooms in the hallway. Very clean spaces. Staff was nice. Cafe Fabien is cozy and offers good food, except online the advertise a full menu when that is not the case. They will have daily specials and only serve a small selection of items. There are no laundry facilities in the hostel, nor ATM. You have to walk just a couple minutes to get to one. The hostel is near 2 metro stations (Colonel Fabien and Louis Blanche), which is convenient. Usually a 15-20 minute ride. Many opportunities to meet people. The only thing I did not like was the distance from the center city of Paris. I wish it had been closer, less metro stops, considerable walking distances to attractions and dining. read more

Seriously best hostel I have been to in Europe thus far. The staff was helpful and friendly. The rooms were exceptionally clean! They thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. We were provided lock boxes to store our valuables in while we were away from our room. Make sure to bring your own lock, though! There are USB charging slots in each bunk so you can have your phone nearby. There are also individual reading lights on each bunk so you don't have to disturb everyone in the room if you are getting up early. The beds were delightful. The pillows were nice and firm and they provide a down comforter that I could have stayed under for days it was so cozy! Final tip, bring your own towel otherwise they will charge you to rent one! There are also lockers that are very affordable if you need to check out earlier than you are leaving! Great and affordable stay, I would recommend this hostel to anyone! read more

This place is ok. Their decor is modern which is fine. Power outlets and usb outlets available on every individual bed which makes for good texting/charging while laying down. The area is far from central Paris which is kind of a bummer but on the upside, the metro stop isn't too far! They have multiple elevators which is great for travel with a big group. They have a club and restaurant located inside which sounds great but the club is boring since I believe it's only open to guests and not everyone comes down to dance unfortunately. The restaurant was awful, the staff was rude, food was bland and not to mention a little pricey, water and Coke alone will bring a a €9 bill. The hallways to get into the room are way too dark! And their security is a little rude too. I walked out to go across the street and when I came back, the guard yelled "where's your room key!" As if he didn't just see me minutes before. I had never stayed at a hostel quite like this one. The bed was comfortable too but one thing that truly sucked was not having a phone in the room that connected me with front desk. I had quite a few issues and each time I had to go downstairs for service. I understand it's a hostel, but I had never stayed at one where there was no phone in case a guest had a really important question. Overall, the experience was just ok, I don't think I will stay here again but I guess it's fine if you just need a place to sleep considering it's cheap price. read more
