Top floor of the 8 bed mixed dorm
    Lilly F.

For what we paid, this hostel satisfied what we needed. Our room was an 8-bed mixed dorm, and I was in Paris for a weekend girls trip with one of my college friends. Our room was 2 stories with 4 beds on each and the bathroom on the bottom floor. Even though we booked in the same reservation, we didn't like being split up floors where I was alone upstairs, but it was fine. The wifi broke the first day which was difficult as students but was fixed the rest of the weekend. What you would expect from a hostel in terms of cleanliness, had to switch beds the first day because mine wasn't cleaned before check-in, but the staff was great. About a 10-15 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower which we did but unless you're willing to walk, there weren't a million restaurants nearby.

When most people think of a hostel, they think of a place that's only suitable to lay down their head for an average night's sleep. However, this hostel far exceeds those expectations and worth the price that we paid. The pictures on hostels.com were very truthful, accurate and represented the hostel very well. When my friend and I arrived at midnight to check-in, the staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room and linens were very clean. The neighborhood was very safe and quiet. There was a bar attached to the hostel which was very lively, but not too loud. The breakfast was a typical European Breakfast with lots of choices of drinks and toppings for our breads. There was a safety deposit box for each bed. Our room had the wash room and the toilet en suite (inside of our room) which worked out very well. Our room was also all female, our suite mates were very respectful and from various places throughout Europe. The things that I liked most about this hostel are the following (No particular order) Friendly and multilingual staff Rooms were cleaned each day White, clean, and fresh linens En Suite Washrooms Safe neighborhood Breakfast and Wifi included Central to everything Newly renovated The only thing that I didn't like was that if we moved too much, the bunk beds would squeak. That could be because the bed frames were made of metal rather than wood.

Wow! This was my first time at a hostel, if this is what hostels are I'm sold, super! From the time you enter the friendly hip little bar, you feel home, well comes by the friendly staff, check in at the bar. Cross the cute outdoor patio that the room surround. Extremely clean rooms. Whether you're traveling alone or with friends this place is perfect. The hip bar lobby is a great place to hang, after a long day exploring Paris. 20 minute walk to the Louvre or Eiffel Tower. Meet new friends among the other international guests and locals that frequent the bar. There where 5 in our group, we stayed 3 days in a two level 5 bed flat with shower and lav. You can not beat the price. I highly recommend 3 Ducks Hostel.

Completely renovated hostel with a great atmosphere and a lovely staff. Really close to metro stop Commerce and a 15 minute walk away from the Eiffel tower. The bar is really nice and filled with travelers in the evening, looking for a conversation and a beer. We stayed in the 6 bed dorm which was nice, the beds are comfortable and each bed has an own light, two USB ports for charging and a normal power socket. The dorm has one toilet and one shower, although there are more toilets in the hallway. Breakfast was great! Croissants, normal bread, butter, different kinds of jams, Nutella and a choice if cereals with milk, and of course coffee/tea. We would like to thank the staff for a pleasant stay in lovely Paris!

The view of the hostel courtyard from our window!

I liked a lot of things about Oops Hostel: -fabulous neighborhood. It is close to most of Paris's touristy attractions, lined with amazing cafes to eat at, and it is 0 on the sketchy meter which is really important to me as a single female. -beautifully decorated and designed (I love just looking at it) -great staff -free breakfast that is decent- the coffee is mediocre but you also get croissants and bread which isn't too bad for a free breakfast -no lockers in rooms but lockers in the hallways which is convenient enough for me -VERY quiet. there is no bar attached to this hostel and they have a strict quiet policy at night. Invaluable for those who desperately need beauty sleep. This is not the place for you if you are the party-party type of traveler, it caters to a more mature crowd and most people here keep to themselves so it's not like you'll meet your new best friend here. I have to say the location and the quietness was what had me at hello- most hostels in Paris are in the sketch parts of town near Gare du Nord and that is why they are 5-10 euros cheaper a night.

By far the cleanest, most modern hostel I've ever stayed in. Free wifi, elevator, and co-ed rooms make for all the right ingredients. Easily accessible from the Gobelins or the place d'italia metros. Literally in between the two. What grinds my gears though is that from 11am-4pm you my friend are locked out. BUT- seriously, who hangs out in the hostel during the day anyway. If youre in Paris, you should be having the time of your life. The times I was ridiculously hung over and slept in til 2 they didnt bother me. Perhaps it was the smell of liquor. They furnish sheets, and a pillow which are changed daily. 1E for the towel, bring your own as theirs are crap. There is a hair dryer in the bathroom. The kichenette has tons of little things to help you get by if youre so inclined to cook, and there is a supermarche right across the street. Great little neighborhood with tons of bars as well.

There is very friendly receptionist who knew multiple languages (some English, Spanish, French obviously). The basement and first floor are cute and functional with lots of places to sit while waiting to check into your room. There were croissants sitting out when we arrived. The location is also great. You're right on a street with many restaurants open late (lovely crepes a few doors to the left of the hostel, as well as an inexpensive sushi restaurants). The hostel also has a good, friendly vibe, and nice character. The downsides though: the room we were in was very small, stuffy, and perhaps dusty. It was on the third floor and no more than 7 or 8 feet wide. I started sneezing a ton the first night, and I believe it was in response to the room. There also isn't a bathroom on the third floor; you have to go downstairs for that. The walls are also super thin and you hear a lot of noise from rooms nearby/downstairs/the street. Finally, Wi-Fi is crappy.

You cant expect a 5 star treatment or atmosphere because its home to students, backpackers and people who are staying for a while and need a cheap arrangement. The front desk person (I forgot his name) is very cheerful and knows a ton of languages. I checked-in with him and he told me where my room was and about the WIFI (only access on the lobby and ground floor where the kitchen and lounging area is). Toilets are in every floor and there is a shared shower in your room (but I think they have different options as to what kind of room you are sharing or staying at). The prices vary according to that. I stayed in a bunk room with three other room mates and it was a good decision on my end since I befriended one of the roomies and she really helped me out figuring out my way across Paris metro and different places I wanted to visit. I definitely recommend this place if you are on a budget and want to meet people. P.S: They serve breakfast from 8:30 to 9:30 which is really nice (croissants, orange juice, coffee, cereal - a good mix). They charge extra for towels and you can store your luggage for a small fee even after you check-out and want to explore the city without having to drag your stuff around.

It's a very simple affair w/ coffee, juice, a pastry, and a segment of baguette, rather than the giant pancakes-and-sausage affair I'm used to. I've read some pretty concerning reviews before coming here and thought the worst but was glad to find out that it was a decent hostel in an unassuming neighborhood, with reasonable amenities, and everything you need in shouting distance. The Generator is located in a neighborhood in the 10th that I'd not had the pleasure of going to in my 10 years visiting France, but once I'd gotten used to it- it was a nice calm little place. The neighborhood surrounding the Generator heading into the 19th though - isn't safe for young or new travelers. Hoards of homeless people are littered under the bridge, and it can be a pretty chaotic neighborhood. The people themselves are pleasant enough, just stay to yourself. The drinks were heavy, the bar downstairs was nice and lively. The shower rooms, toilets, and beds were what you can expect from a constantly rotating line of people. It's not top notch, it's not bottom rung. The cleaning staff was in daily, maintenance came directly both times I requested (for the shower, and a clogged toilet). The maintenance crew for the toilet came a total of 4 times. I stayed in a room of 8, Most of the ladies were great, but some need reminders when checking in about how to be kind in a large hostel room. Some came in at 2a when I needed to rise at 5a and made a tremendous amount of noise. Be mindful when booking, or reviewing that you're staying in a hostel with an AMAZING amount of turn over, they may need more staff, but what they do have is keeping up quite well.

However, I decided to reserve a private room instead of a dorm room because I wanted more privacy while still getting the hostel experience. I highly recommend booking a private room if it's within your travel budget instead of the dorm room, especially if you're traveling solo or as a couple. Trust me! After a long day exploring Paris' many historical sites and museums and riding around the city in crowded metro trains, you'll want privacy to relax, rest, and unwind without strangers coming in and out of the room throughout the day and night. If you have the extra money to splurge a bit, I recommend booking a private room. Overall, the hostel hasn't changed much, if at all, since 2016, except for a name change, but it's still charming, an excellent place for all travelers, and close to many restaurants, stores, and metro stations. If you're a bit older (40-50+) and prefer a more relaxed and quiet hostel experience, you can find that at Les Piaules, but it will be loud on the nights scheduled for events like karaoke (Monday) and music provided by a local DJ (Friday and Saturday). The hostel (bar/lounge) is quiet throughout the day and allows for a great a working space with free wifi throughout the hostel, including wifi in your room. The hostel staff is friendly and helpful if you have questions about Paris. You can also purchase breakfast in the morning at the bar. There is a Franprix store a few minutes walk from the hostel, so you can get water, food, and snacks to bring back to your room. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, there is a farmers market steps from the hostels' front door. I'd stay here again if and when I return to Paris because it's reasonably priced and close to many stores and restaurants, including a laundromat (10-minute walk) in the local neighborhood. I also enjoy the vibe of the hostel. Whether traveling solo or with friends, I think you'll fall in love with this hostel. Here is my opinion: Pros: - clean - friendly staff - relatively convenient location (Les Piaules is sandwiched between two metro stations, which puts you at a less than 30 minute commute for most places in Paris that are north of the Seine) Con: - rooms are small and I found it awkward when I had to sort things in my luggage as other people would then have no room to walk - rooms that are towards the far end of the hall are noisy at night because of the Hostel's proximity to the main street I would say that the right living quarters is what diminished my experience the most as I found it inconvenient to move around in the room. Final note -- it seems that the neighborhood is somewhat of a ethnic enclave for the Chinese community in France as there are large Chinese grocery markets, restaurants, and more in the area. This was quite a delight for me as I was able to get authentic Chinese dumplings nearby when I got tired of the local French cuisine.
