Stayed here when I studied abroad in college. Loved the location and ease to access the metro, getting around the city was a breeze. Also loved the nearby markets and shops within walking distance, my flat mates and I found a great ice cream shop nearby, I wish I could remember the name but it was amazing! Best part of the hostel? We had a small view of the Eiffel Tower from our window. Definitely would love to stay here again!

There are no street signs to know what street you're on. This is the hostel above the restaurant.

Great space. Great staff. Cool environment. I will come back here for sure when I stay in Paris. It was a one night stay but I really enjoyed the place. Talked with other travellers. Great breakfast choices compared to other hostels I've been to. Very clean hostel. I shared a dorm with 3 other girls.

    Cute and simple decor

The staff is very helpful and accommodating (continuing to extend my stay for a week instead of a few days because I enjoyed it so much), they speak English and French. It was very clean in the shared dorm room everyone was respectful and quiet. They clean every day and put fresh linens on your bed. The beds are a very minimal, but practical the pillow is long and you can fold over itself for more support. I didn't even feel the need to use my silk bed liner (cleanliness is huge for me) I just slept directly in the sheets. There are only USB plugs in the main room - you can bring a European power strip or charger to plug in the room there are a couple power outlets per room. Wifi is weak in the room but possible...in the common room it is great. Breakfast is a piece of bread, a pastry, coffee and OJ. They offer dry cereal and yogurt, but no bowls. Breakfast is from 7-10 (must be finished by 10- get there my 9:45 at the latest.) There is a small marketplace around the corner for additional food and cafes are open anytime of the day or night. The location is great close to all of the major attractions you will want to see in Paris. I walked around the first 2 days, but using the Metro is very helpful (and saves your feet). Buy the 10-ticket book and save 5€, you will use them! As a solo female traveler I felt very safe in this area at night walking by myself or with friends. Everyone in Paris has been very friendly and helpful with directions. When you come to Paris you must stay at Mije- I will most certainly stay here each time I am in Paris!

I went with a large group and shared a ten-person room, which was HUGE with five sets of bunk beds, flannel sheets and blankets, two sinks/mirrors in the room and a large area to hang coats and store luggage. The room had two large floor-to-ceiling windows that opened to the street and provided a nice breeze on the summer evenings. The showers were available down the hall but it wasn't a problem. We got a group rate, but for individuals it's 30€ a night which is pretty much a steal for the location. The hostel has a pretty large eating area and serves a free breakfast in the morning--cereal, yogurt, bagels, muffins, coffee, tea, juice, milk, fruit, and more. This place is simple and doesn't have a lot of extras, but for the price and location it's a perfect jumping-off point to sightsee in Paris.

Great place to stay if you are on budget, and in Paris for the first time. It truly helps the experience tremendously. The metro is literally a block down, AND it's the line you need to get to the Louvre. What else do you need? We had a private double room (a bunk) facing the courtyard, shower/sink in the room, bathroom next door - somewhat strange, but it's a hostel, so I don't have high expectations. There's a also a room with paid lockers to store you stuff as well if you end up sharing with a few people A couple things that take away a star, not everyone can stay here because there's an age limit, and there's also a curfew (1am). Otherwise, no better place to stay cheap and close to all the action. Book waaaay in advance (winter/fall) if you want to stay here in the spring/summer. Mije is a gem, and all who stayed there know it!

I think I brought a lot of my American prejudices to the breakfast experience. It's a very simple affair w/ coffee, juice, a pastry, and a segment of baguette, rather than the giant pancakes-and-sausage affair I'm used to. Also, when they say breakfast is from 7am-10am, they really mean it! 10am is not some kind of "last seated" time--they really expect you to be done and out of there by 10. We sauntered in at 9:57a and had to really wolf it down before they closed. Again, probably my own misapprehension.

The MIJE hostels are the best places to stay in Paris. I have been to Paris many times and yuh just can't beat the price and location. Private rooms are available if you don't want to stay in a dorm setting. People of all ages and income stay here because it is so nice. Three locations are part of the MIJE system. You will be assigned a room the day before or close to check in if yuh make a late reservation. Preferences are not considered. All three are close to metro and bus stops. All three have bistros and convenience stores near. WiFi is available in the common areas and works well. Luggage storage is available all day even before you check in. It is camera monitored and I never had a problem. Showers and sinks are within your room. Toilets are in the hall but they are private rooms. Hair dryers are available with a $20 euro deposit and were nice (in fact I bought one just like it bc was so nice!!) Breakfast is always friendly and fun. Baguette, pain de chocolate, yogurt, cereal, tea, coffee, juice, milk by cafeteria style is served. Buildings are old, restored mansions. Worn marble floors, quaint courtyards and lots of French style make these places so perfect. Views from many of the windows is spectacular. One of my favorite things was to lay in bed early on Sunday mornings and listen to all the different church bells... including Norte Dame. Typical price for a dorm room was $22-33 euros. Dinners are served in weeknights for a modest price. All hotel staff speak English and were very helpful with suggestions and directions. Also inquire about your membership discounts. I used mine to get half price admission to a hot photography exhibit across the street and to go on a boat excursion. Both were less than $7 euros a piece. Many times large tour groups use these hostels. On those days it may be a little louder but embrace the experience. There is too much to do in Paris to sit in the hostel and complain about the groups.

Several metro and bus lines nearby. Closest metro station is Saint Paul. My room was a 10 bed dormitory on the fourth floor of building B. The only drawback was the 89 stairs to get to the room--yes, I counted them. Once in the proper room there was two floors. The first floor had a single and a bunkbed tucked in the back room. A shower was also on this floor, two toilets in the hall. The winding staircase to the second floor had three large rooms with all single beds. A toilet and shower were available up there as well. Bedding was wonderful with a big fluffy duvet and large pillow. Each bed had an outlet or USB charging station for your phone/camera, etc. Notre Dame could be seen from the window ! A mixed crowd of people stayed at the hostel on the same weekend as myself. Some old, some young, some in groups and some loners. Everyone was friendly and shared experiences. A friendly staff that answered numerous questions with smiles made the stay even better. Breakfast is included. It is continental but starts the day out right. A Hema store for necessities and a Francoprix are on the corner should you need anything. Luggage storage was in a secured room with camera. The only negative things I experienced were poor connection with WiFi and broken vending machines. Highly recommend the Francoprix instead of relying on vending because it was a lot cheaper at the store. **Towels not provided. On Sundays consider visiting the Bastille Market for an authentic Paris experience. It is a 10 min walk.
