I loved this place. I had a terrible experience at my previous hostel stay in Paris, and I needed sleep badly. This hostel came to the rescue when I really needed it. I liked a lot of things about Oops Hostel: -fabulous neighborhood. It is close to most of Paris's touristy attractions, lined with amazing cafes to eat at, and it is 0 on the sketchy meter which is really important to me as a single female. -beautifully decorated and designed (I love just looking at it) -great staff -free breakfast that is decent- the coffee is mediocre but you also get croissants and bread which isn't too bad for a free breakfast -no lockers in rooms but lockers in the hallways which is convenient enough for me -VERY quiet. there is no bar attached to this hostel and they have a strict quiet policy at night. Invaluable for those who desperately need beauty sleep. This is not the place for you if you are the party-party type of traveler, it caters to a more mature crowd and most people here keep to themselves so it's not like you'll meet your new best friend here. I have to say the location and the quietness was what had me at hello- most hostels in Paris are in the sketch parts of town near Gare du Nord and that is why they are 5-10 euros cheaper a night. read more

Where to stay for cheap? 30E in the peak season 23E in the off season PER NIGHT. seriously folks? Apparently this hostel was voted best in the world a few years back. By far the cleanest, most modern hostel I've ever stayed in. Free wifi, elevator, and co-ed rooms make for all the right ingredients. Easily accessible from the Gobelins or the place d'italia metros. Literally in between the two. What grinds my gears though is that from 11am-4pm you my friend are locked out. BUT- seriously, who hangs out in the hostel during the day anyway. If youre in Paris, you should be having the time of your life. The times I was ridiculously hung over and slept in til 2 they didnt bother me. Perhaps it was the smell of liquor. They furnish sheets, and a pillow which are changed daily. 1E for the towel, bring your own as theirs are crap. There is a hair dryer in the bathroom. The kichenette has tons of little things to help you get by if youre so inclined to cook, and there is a supermarche right across the street. Great little neighborhood with tons of bars as well. read more

I've traveled all over Europe, and this is one of the best hostels I've stayed in. I highly recommend paying a little more for the four-bed dorms. They usually have ensuite bathrooms that are clean, reasonably spacious, and well-decorated. They have multiple hooks and a few ledges to store things and hang clothes, towels, etc. The hostel is a 'design hostel', and there are some nice touches. Beds are decent quality, and there are small lockers in the hallway for valuables. The power outlets could be placed slightly better be a little more numerous, but in general, there's enough for people to use. The left luggage storage room could use a little work, like a little more room, and some fixtures to lock cables to. That said, the room works fine. There's 24/7 front desk staff and all of them speak English pretty well, from my experience. The free WiFi is decent quality and reliable. You can rent a towel, but the towels are comically small. In typical French style, they take a €8 deposit for the towel, and you don't get it back unless you have the receipt; and they emphasize that you *must* have the receipt. This is even though the towels are special "OOPS" towels that are custom made with the OOPS printed on them. ;) Breakfast is included. Includes a small bread roll, a croissant, and a piece of cheese, if I remember correctly. Not a hearty breakfast, but then, this is Europe, so I'm not expecting much anyway. That said, about 5-10 minutes walk up to Rue Mouffetard are small grocery stores, and 2-3 bakeries which are terrific, as well as cheese shops, wine shops, cafés, crêperies, and small restaurants. It's one of my favorite little streets in Paris. The location is just on the edge of the Latin Quarter, a very nice neighborhood. It's only a few minutes walk to two Metro stations, including one that takes you to the Louvre. This would be 4.5 stars if that were allowed, because of the weirdly small towels, the slightly-off power outlets placement, and the fact that you have to pay cash for your stay. If I've just arrived in France, and going to my lodging with a lot of luggage and tired from a long train ride or flight, I don't like having to remember to find an ATM along the way to get cash. That said, there are numerous ATMs within a block or two of the hostel, if anyone's curious. All in all, this is a great hostel. Great prices given how crazy expensive Paris is in general. read more

Stayed here when I studied abroad in college. Loved the location and ease to access the metro, getting around the city was a breeze. Also loved the nearby markets and shops within walking distance, my flat mates and I found a great ice cream shop nearby, I wish I could remember the name but it was amazing! Best part of the hostel? We had a small view of the Eiffel Tower from our window. Definitely would love to stay here again! read more

I stayed at this hostel during my stay in Paris. I was here for 3 nights. It was one of my first hostel experiences and I was pretty happy with everything! I have heard horror stories from fellow travelers about hostels so I went in not really knowing what to expect with this hostel. The rooms are small but very cute. I shared my room with 2 other people that I knew. There were 2 bunk beds, and even though there was a fourth bed open, there was not a random person that we did not know staying in the open bed, which was nice. There is air conditioning in the rooms and the wifi works well which is always a plus, especially when you are in a foreign country. The location of this hostel is good. It is close to the train station and lots of restaurants. read more

Hostel with a bit of good and a bit of bad. Great location on Avenue des Gobelins(awesome name!), but very close to the Latin Quarter and Rue Moffetard. Also close location to two metro stations(gobelins or the place d'italia) There are some nice interior design elements that help Oops seem like a modern, quality hostel, but I found that those don't always transfer to the rooms. The first problem I found are that they offer NO lockers in your rooms. These can be extremely stressful when you are have cameras/passports/jewelry you don't want to drag around all day and don't want to leave in a room of multiple strangers. Another problem I found is that you cannot even enter your room until 4PM! So plan your trip accordingly. There is also NO drinking allowed in the hostel, a big plus in many other hostels around Europe. The other reviews said 30E a night for a hostel is cheap?? This weekend I'm staying in a much higher rated and hostel in Dublin for 13E! Paris is an expensive city, but I wouldn't call this cheap by hostel standards. So I give Oops 2 stars. Stay there on the strength of its location and take into account the cons listed above. read more

This was a great hostel (and indication that Europeans really do hostels best)! Some highlights: - The interior staircase was decorated like something out of a Wes Anderson film; I loved it... - The rooms were somewhat tiny but clean - There's an ensuite bathroom in each room; however, instead of actual toilet paper, this hostel stocks napkins - There are lockers on each floor with built-in locks that you can program...no need to bring your own - The staff leaves out leftovers from breakfast all day so you can snack at your own leisure - The hostel is right next to Place d'Italie - a major metro stop - but it's also on the same street as the Gobelins stop, where the 7 runs...very convenient read more

I can't say enough good things about this hotel/hostel. It's clean, affordable, the staff is friendly and proactive, it's located in a very central location of Avenue Goblins (within walking distance of two metro stops). Awesome experience! Free breakfast, well decorated, bathroom very modern, and (Wonder of all wonders) a lift. For once, I did not have to carry my bag up all the flights of stairs, as is typical in hostels. We were in a private room on the top floor and had a tiny little balcony that had a simply awesome view. There are a lot of restaurants on the same street and a supermarket across the road. It is a bit of a walk from any of the major tourist attractions but it is a very simple/easy walk and they are close to the train stations. Overall, definitely recommended. read more

If you like lime green, bright pink, faux-fur walls and free Internet, then this is the definitely place for you! It's about 15 minutes walk from the real going out part of the lively Latin Quarter, and just a few minutes walk from Place d'Italie, where there are a few reasonable cafes and restaurants and the nearest metro station. Rather than going for the hostel breakfast, I'd recommend grabbing a delicious pastry in one of these cafes. And unless you're really into robotic arms and whirring machines, I'd avoid the coffee machine in the hostel, which churns out shockingly bad coffee given the city you're in. We stayed in a 4-bedroom dorm with an en-suite bathroom. Although predictably small, it was very clean and perfectly comfortable. The bunks were modern and good quality, the shower was powerful and hot and the double-glazing cut out any noise from the reasonably busy street below very effectively. Multi-lingual staff, free use of computers in the lobby, and free wi-fi throughout make this a winner! read more

Charming and functional, this hostel brings a great atmosphere (people of different ages, not the usual late-teen place), with AIR-CONDITIONING and a big LIFT! Staff is super friendly, always go out of their way to help! Location is amazing: close to Mouffetard Street and Luxembourg Gardens, in an affordable area, and easy transportation to Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Opéra etc. Actually, those places are more central but a bit too touristy, and the location of Oops make it so perfect between the practicity and the fun! Comfy beds, AMAZING suites with proper hot showers (brand new!) and a little balcony in my room!! Breakfast has a very yummy chocolate cereal (and croissants and loads of things), had great fun there with the roommates and the staff guy from Brazil. Merci beaucoup! read more

Enjoyed our stay at Oops! Friendly staff, fairly clean rooms (our walls were a little grungy). Overall for the price and location it's a great choice. Free wifi. We got a private room on the top floor and had a cute petite balcony overlooking the road. The restroom is like one found in an RV/camper. Very small but clean and private. Bathrooms are modern, digital combo lockers are nice. Wifi is very reliable. By far the worst part about this hostel is the beds. They squeak with the smallest of movements, and the mattresses are sunken in, which meant a sore back for me most mornings. Otherwise a decent value given its proximity to Place D'Italie. read more

1. The hostel doesn't take credit card. Cash only. 2. The hostel is located about a mile away from what any normal person would define as the "Latin Quarter." Nothing of interest is very close by. 3. Found blood on my bedsheets, day one. 4. The staff varies from nice and useless to incredibly rude and useless. I tried to set up my transportation back to the airport; tried to confirm three times, they refused to confirm and tried to keep my 8 euro deposit. read more

It's too bad 0 stars us not an option. DO NOT STAY HERE - MAJOR BED BUG INFESTATION. Stayed here for two nights in late August. A friend had recommended the place after staying in 2009 while backpacking across Europe. I looked at the reviews from July and August on Yelp and TripAdvisor and thought the place still looked good, but I was terribly wrong. Upon check in to our private room Friday night, I asked the desk attendant if there were any bug problems. She laughed at me, which made me feel silly for asking, and we checked in promptly afterwards. Unfortunately, I did not think that the cash only/no refunds policy should have been a tip off. After checking out Sunday morning, my fellow traveler and I went sightseeing. As the day went on, we both started noticing rash like bites all over our hands, arms and necks. I have had bed bug bites before, and knew immediately what the bites were. When I returned home, I immediately emailed the hotel to let them know about the issue and ask if we could be refunded for our trouble. The hotel not only refused refund, but was in denial about the issue - saying "the streets of Paris have all sorts of vermin" and they could not trace back the problem to the room. Clearly the hotel does NOT care about their customers, and only wants to make quick cash. If you stay here, you will be bitten by bed bugs. We stayed on the 6th floor, in the most expensive room the hotel had to offer. It is four days after check out, and my arms and hands are still covered in itchy bites. I had to throw out half of my things and spend money and time to treat my remaining clothes. NOT WORTH the cheap stay. read more

Well run. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. Rooms and bathrooms are clean. There is plenty of hot water and water pressure. Breakfast area clean, breakfast sufficient. Electronic lockers for added ease of mind. Plenty of info about free tours, etc in lobby. Wifi fast enough for video calling, many free computers (6?). Great location for both bus and metro. Grocery store nearby. Oh and plenty of heat in the winter. read more
