My most recent visit to Gen X was for my second nostril piercing (the stud). Previously I had only the first piercing (and a stud in that), but Liz felt I was able to get the hoop put in, since I'd had it for around 6-7 months. I've gotten all my piercings done here! I think Liz and Greg are hilarious and they always make me feel comfortable. I will note that the stud in the picture did fall out, but I went to Greg and he had it back in within the 2 minutes of me being in the chair and had me on my way. I'll be back soon! They only accept cash and only do walk-in appointments, but it's worth it. (Nostril piercings are $35, $30 for students.) ---- UPDATE: I went back in to get a septum piercing around February. Greg had it done and me walking out within 15 minutes. I paid $35 I believe itget it done! --- UPDATE: went back in June of last year to get my other nostril pierced. Honestly, the piercings are not even. I thought maybe my nose was swollen and making it seem out of place, but it's been over 6 months so it's just in the wrong place. I still am giving a 5 star rating, but BE SURE you check from all angles where they place that dot and speak up if you don't think it's in the right place. i got my belly button pierced here for my birthday back in December 2023 and my mom got her nose pierced mind you she already had her right side done for years she was getting her left side done just walking into the place i said to my mom i was the lady to do my piercing because i was more comfortable with a female doing my piercing. the lady at the front was very nice and friendly and i noticed another female worker in the back who i later had a conversation with and she was also friendly even though she was having a hard day, as we went back to get the piercings done by the black/Latino man who i believe name was Greg i quickly got a weird vibe with him as he had a very dry personality but i tried to push it off as being scared for my piercing, my mom went first and he seemed to have a issue with the fact my mom wanted a small diamond instead of a regular sized one. after he did her piercing, we got ready to do mine i lied down in the chair and picked out the jewelry i wanted, when he started to do the piercing, it was very uncomfortable not painful though he kept making jokes with a dry personality that just set me off the wrong way, after my piercing i thought at the time it looked normal and correct and it wasn't until after we left the piercing shop that i said to a friend that was there with me who also got her belly button pierced there about a month before that i didn't like the guy doing my piercing he was weird and creeped me out that's when she told me that her and her cousins that also got pierced by him didn't like him either and he said some very inappropriate things to her cousin and thats when my mom said to me that the lady who we saw in the back earlier who looked to be in her early to mid 20s was married to and had kids with Greg who looked to be in his mid 40s to early 50s. now around 8 months later my piercing that i have very well taken care of is infected and fell out and started to close and recently i also realized it was pierced very wrong not in the belly button what so ever but quite literally a stomach piercing. i will not be returning here and will not recommend this shop to anyone. read more

So Fred, Greg, Charlie, LOL he wasn't exactly clear to what his name was, took care of me and my friend. From the beginning he was just quick with cracking jokes and I must say it has been the best piercing experience I have ever had. My friend was a bit nervous getting her daith pierced and his whole sarcastic, joking attitude made us feel very comfortable around him. I got my double helix pierced and he was quick, knowledgable and very thorough explaining the jewelry and different piercing methods used. He also answered all our questions. As for my friend, he kept picking on her and the whole situation had us laughing with tears in our eyes. If you want a boring, sit down, no fun piercing session, then don't come here. If you're looking for an enjoyable experience, great prices and clean setup, then come on in! He was wonderful and I only plan on coming here for my piercings. Not too impressed lately with the piercing part of the business. Every time I try to come here with a friend to get a piercing during normal business hours, the piercer seems to have some type of problem leading her to go home. Not the way to run a business in my eyes because soon enough you're going to lose a very loyal client. Greg is great when it comes to piercing and he is always accommodating to me when I need certain things for the past piercings I have gotten. Today I called, and I'm glad I did. Greg was the best!! I got my daith pierced today along with my mom and it was an incredible experience. He took all the stress off by talking and sharing stories before hand. If I could give zero stars I would. The girl at the counter was very sweet but you could tell she was intimidated by the man she was working for/with. My friend and I walked in for two quick piercings at 1pm, with NOBODY in the place and she says to us she can probably get us in around 1:30. The guy from the back loudly proclaims NOT UNTIL 2 and kept repeating himself as if the poor girl was deaf. Not to mention, he wasn't in a closed off room, we could hear everything. I took my daughter to see Greg for a naval piercing and noticed that it was crooked. We were both in denial about it and 4 days later went in to discuss the problem and request a refund. Greg was nice when he was getting paid but as soon as we complained about the bad job and requested to get refunded he became very rude. He totally ignored us, started talking over me, called other clients up and didn't even bother to get close and look at the bad job he had done. He def has no remorse or interested in seeing what he had done wrong because that would mean admitting to being a bad piercer. I would not recommend this place. I've been going to gen X for years because it used to be the only piercing shop around that could get you in on short notice. But Greg, the main guy who does all the piercings, is extremely rude. I put up with it for years because he got the job done, until now. I went for a simple cartilage piercing, and he told me $15. I was surprised it was such a low price and didn't think much of it until I had already paid and he barely disinfected the area around my ear and then pulled out a tiny piercing GUN. Anyone who knows the slighest about piercings knows that a needle is much safer than a gun. Since he already had it up to my ear I decided it would probably be fine. It was not. A mere three days later, I woke up with my ear swollen, red, and painful. I had been following standard aftercare instructions (which he did not give me any of, by the way. Or even offer to let me buy a cleaning solution as any piercer should) and know it was nothing I did. I've had almost every piercing in the book and have never had something swell up this bad. He also tried to tell me that I could switch out my piercing immediately as long as it was the correct type of metal (which again, anyone who knows anything about piercings knows this is a big no-no, and you should always let it heal first to be safe.) I am absolutely livid, and just hoping that my ear will go back to normal and I don't have to be hit with a nice juicy walk in bill to get some antibiotics for it. The place may be able to get you in quickly, and it may be a bit cheaper than tattoo shops or other piercing places, but I am begging you to put in the extra ounce of effect for your own safety. If you need a place that you know will always be kind, professional, and most importantly: SAFE, I would highly recommend karma piercing in the trumbull mall. The prices are reasonable $35 for nose and $10 for ears. They only take cash FYI which is kinda weird in my opinion. But everything is opened right in front of you so you can see it's clean and sanitary and honestly that's the most important thing for me. For a mall piercing shop it's pretty decent. I've been to Gen X for a previous piercing but i came again and the door was locked. It was about 4pm, and it said they would be back at 5. I waited for an hour and went in as soon as the guy came. I walked in and he said nothing so I said are you open? I wish I could give this place a zero a million times over. I am fairly certain the late middle aged black guy who was there today is the owner but regardless of his position, he has absolutely not one single molecule of professionalism in his angry bitter unkind body. He was so unbelievably unkind to me today while I attempted to ask a question about the piercing I was interested in. He simply would not allow me to finish my thought and it seemed what kicked off his old man passive aggressive as hell condescending patronizing temper tantrum was that I am hard of hearing and simply couldn't hear him which required him to move his body closer to me so I could hear him. GOD FORBID HE WALK 3 feet closer!!! Anyone who knows me knows I'm an exceptionally kind person. But I am hard of hearing and it makes me anxiety ridden enough as it is. I felt personally victimized and bullied by this man, so much so that the overwhelming urge to cry won over and I wept almost openly the whole walk back to my car with my husband at a loss trying to comfort me. Prior to this, I was so pumped and happy to go have this done. I'm terrified to ever go anywhere near that store or that man. He really disturbed me. Like a previous reviewer, I would give them a 0 star rating if I could. I went in on Tuesday August 1st around 3:30. When I entered there was a woman on the phone so I looked around a little until she was done. I was looking to buy a piece of jewelry for my rook piercing. I got it done March of this year but one of the balls on the piece of jewelry had come off. I was not looking to take my piercing out I just wanted a new piece of jewelry to take a ball off and put it onto the bar that was in my piercing. The woman was so ridiculously rude from the second I started trying to explain to her what I was looking to do. She immediately spoke over me saying that the piercer wasn't there and wouldn't be there until 6. I again tried to tell her I only wanted to buy a new piece of jewelry but she again wouldn't let me finish my sentence. So I walked out. How can you be in customer service and be so unnecessarily rude to a customer. I will never ever go back to this store ever again and will tell everyone I know about my horrible experience to deter them from going as well. I went in on Saturday Dec 9 between 5-6 PM with my sister, hoping to either get two simple piercings done on my lobes or schedule an appointment to do so. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I came in Mon Aug 8 to get information about a monroe piercing that the skin has grown over on the inside and I want it taken out. The piercer was not there. How do you have a piercing shop and no piercer. I let that go because the woman at the front told me they could take care of it. She said 15$ if they have to stretch the hole open 50$ if they have to repeirce. I specifically told her my concerns asking if I would have to get it surgically removed she said NO. She said come back Wednesday ask for greg the owner. I came in today there was no one at the front to acknowledge me. I waited 5 mins and a guy came out and he was SO RUDE he barely wanted to listen to my needs as a customer cut me off and said nope you have to go to the Dr's.
