I got a spine piece done by Joe here. First off, the salon is killer. Very clean and everyone is super professional. Spine pieces are notorious for being a tender spot. I went in, had a consult with Joe, and put a deposit down. Immediately liked his attitude. He's very caring about what YOU want and making sure it's perfect for YOU. We went back and forth on font and designs and he was very receptive. Came in for my appointment, he was very polite and respectful. He is very light handed and super attentive to detail. This was a large piece down the entirety of my spine and he knew it was something very sentimental for me so he took his time and didn't rush. He went in with a fine needle and then went back in to pack in color to ensure it doesn't spread and fade poorly. I have been here for piercings previously and had nothing but good things to say, but this was a completely different experience. I became increasingly frustrated and annoyed as I found their demeanor super condescending and off-putting as someone getting their first tattoo. Although my artist had great work, it felt like they did not respect my input for the design. I have talked with many people who have gotten tattoos in the past, and they all said their artists had a design to show them when they came in, but I was left sitting in the waiting room for 2.5 hours before I saw anything. The pricing was too high for my liking, and I had to pay for prep work that should have been done in the 3 weeks between my consultation and the appointment. Honestly, I feel robbed. read more

Overall my experience in this place was excellent. Everything was clean. Everything was opened new and sterile in front of me. The front desk is nice. Plenty of chairs for people to wait at, the tattoo artist was also very nice as well. However I do have to say that I had a tiny tattoo done, size of a quarter. I felt it was way over priced. In part it's my fault, I should have asked about price I was more concerned with the placement and size. Anxious to get it done. I assumed (essentially says it all) it would be cheap for the size. It wasn't. I payed close to $100 bucks with tip. I probably took about 30mims if that. It was just not the appropriate price for it at all. So yes I recommend this place for larger work. The artist I had does an excellent job with those. No complaints there. Just something tiny needs to be adjusted better for pricing. read more

I've been seeing Dan for tattoos since January 2020 and have been extremely pleased with his work. I have 7 from him now and they are all incredible. His linework is solid, his colors are always concentrated and he is absolutely a master of traditional tattooing. Very kind and easy to talk to as well. I got a good sized tattoo here on my ribs a couple of years ago. I went in there as a new customer and explained to them my idea and they drew up an awesome tattoo which I love! Though the tattoo needed a requisite three weeks for me to become accustomed to its appearance, I can honestly claim that I love it these days. Marissa is a talented artist with precision and a knack for balanced light & shadow. However, most quality tattoos are quite expensive and Darkside is no exception to that general rule. But the upshot is the fact that you'll receive unparalleled attention and care during the entire process. When I initially expressed some emotional concerns to Melinda (one of the owners), she was very understanding as my tattoo had significant spiritual and personal meaning for yours truly. After asking me to wait a few weeks in order to allow the colors to lighten, she also added that they had every intention to ensure that my experience was positive and memorable. If I wanted any corrections or refinement, they would be more than happy to accommodate me at no extra charge. Presently, I am a fan for life! I also plan to allow Marissa to update an aged tattoo in due time, which is how one definitely knows that an artist is preferred and very competent. I wholeheartedly recommend this clean, hygienic establishment ~ with positive energy despite the ominous name! ~ for anyone who wants quality body art. read more

Horrible business ethic, calling to cancel a consultation an hour before the appointment and then saying "well you can just email a picture of what you want". Those are people that care less about obtaining new clients considering the fact we made these appointments very much in advance and all we are told is the artist left for the day. People work and make appointments around their schedules. So much for giving a horrible business thousands of dollars. You just lost several clients. read more

I went to Darkside to get a new tattoo yesterday and I was very pleased with the whole experience. My tattoo was done by Marissa and she did a phenomenal job. Even before the inking started, she put a lot of work and effort into the layout and look of it. The tattoo was a text quote done in a very detailed and difficult font and she really took the time to make sure that it came out perfectly. I also had her make an addition to an existing tattoo. She was able to match the style of the original and give me exactly what I wanted. The rest of the staff that I interacted with was very friendly and pleasant.
