I haven't been on Yelp in a while, and have never actually posted a review, although all of my friends do. I usually just use it to find places and check reviews. So I went to this tattoo shop to get a small tattoo, and was very happy and decided to give them a review because it came out perfect. I just started to write this and then began reading the review about the "acid-tripping" tattoo artist and am very confused. I was just there, and have been there twice before for a piercing, and that review can't be right. The place is so clean, I don't remember seeing any tattoo party signs, there were no animals....although that would be cool if there was a dog in there( I love dogs), but I didn't see any. The tattoo artist, which I believe there is one( the rest were a piercer, someone working front desk, and someone learning how to tattoo), so he was the opposite of someone who would take acid, talk to M&M's, and then tell someone that was placing their health in his hands that this happened. I have been reading reviews for years on Yelp, always thinking that they were supposed to have a better system of sorting out feedback, now I am not sure. This one that I read seems like someone that is trying to ruin a business or attempting humor. I'll be a little more skeptical of reviews in the future. As for A Touch of Color, I was very happy, and will go back again. EDIT: I just posted this and they are taking it down or putting it to "not recommended"....don't know why? read more

This is by far, THE best place to get tattoos. I just went there two weeks ago to get my third tattoo by Kaleb, and I would NEVER go anywhere else. Kaleb goes out of his way to make sure that the piece is PERFECT, and that the customer is happy. That is his number ONE concern. He is courteous, kind and explains the whole process, giving his opinion as a seasoned, professional artist to give you the best work possible. Out of all the tattoos I've ever gotten over the last 16 years, I am the most pleased with Kaleb's work. I read one review on here about him "supposedly tripping on acid, etc." and I'm sorry, but not only is that absolutely laughable, but it's the most incredulous thing that I've ever heard. THAT person clearly has some issues that have to be addressed! I mean, who says that?!?! Go in for yourself, at ANY TIME, and I assure you, you will NEVER see anything of the sort. Kaleb conducts himself, and his business with the utmost of professionalism, and that comment is an insult to MY sensibilities, in getting my own tattoos there....I'm an LCSW who SPECIALIZES in Substance Abuse...TRUST, I'd be able to tell IF that were the case, and wouldn't be going there; however, it just simply isn't true... Clearly, personal issues need to be taken elsewhere...sorry. Keep up the amazing work, Kaleb! Will def be back for more!!!!!! read more

I have been to A Touch of Color over a dozen times over the last 6 years and I wont go anywhere else. Kaleb is great and goes out of his way to help his clients. I got a piece on my arm and before it healed I got poison ivy and it pulled a little bit of ink out and he touched up the piece for NO CHARGE. Try finding someone who will do that for you. He has covered up 3 of my old tattoos, and they're amazing! I am not one to usually leave feedback unless I am REALLY happy, or REALLY pissed off. I am happy. My wife and her sister got piercings from Justin, and he is very good, and a professional. I have seen horror stories with people getting pierced at the mall or in their house, and it is nice to see a piercer who takes pride in his work. I give them two large thumbs up! I've had two tattoos done by Kaleb, and they're GREAT! My cousin recommended the shop, and his tattoo came out great, so I went down and talked with the artist (Kaleb), and was very impressed with his attitude, the vibe of the shop, and that it looked very clean. He wasn't pushy at all with getting the piece, he actually told me to put more thought into before I made the leap. I'm glad, he was right, because I changed my mind. The second time in we discussed, and he put the drawing/stencil together.....and I got the tattoo that day. It's of a tree coming up my arm....I am sooooo thrilled with it. I guess that is one of his favorite things to tattoo, trees. I've been back once to get another tattoo, and I am planning my next. I've also sent others his way and haven't heard of any complaints. Can't think of anything that I was unhappy with any one of the three times I went, so I would recommend to others. read more

I went to A Touch of Color not knowing what to expect. I called Kaleb after hours to schedule an appointment and he was still there, we talked for bit and the next day as well discussing different ideas for my tattoo. When I went for the appointment, Kaleb already had drawn up some ideas and when it didn't meet what I was looking for exactly he went back to the drawing board, made the necessary changes and 25 minutes later I had my tattoo drawn up. Now I have 15 other tattoos and have been selective in my choices. Out of all my tattoos, my batman tattoo is hands down my favorite. Excellent shop, because there was actually thought and consideration going into my tattoo, the colors in it are phenomenal and I'll be contacting Kaleb again to start the lower half of my sleeve! read more

We had such a good time and all of our stuff came out perfect. My two friends got piercings which they are thrilled with. The piercer was so fast and neither one of them said it hurt. I got a tattoo with my girlfriend, and hers was beautiful. I had a cover up done over a tattoo from a tattoo party and I am so thankful that the artist could even cover it up. The original piece was huge and healed horribly. The tattooist at A Touch of Color went over it with bright flowers and you cant even see the original piece. Thank you soooooooooooo much, I couldn't continue on with that crap on my leg. You get 5 stars, 2 thumbs up, and a kiss on the cheek( from my Grandmother). read more

Ive been going there for almost 2+ yrs now and Kaleb is the best tattoo guy i have come across...ive gotten almost a full sleeve done there, my ribs done and my feet done and hands down they are the best of all the tats i have!! To whomever wrote that BS post let it be known that you LIE and noone should ever believe fake posts like that about this tattoo shop!! Kaleb is Very professional each and every time i have been there...hes always on time and pays close attention to detail!! i recommend everyone and anyone whos thinking of getting a tattoo and are in CT or close to go there!! I got a memorial tattoo done for my Grandmother at A Touch of Color Tattoo. It came out absolutely beatifully! The artist spent time with me drawing it up, took the time to explain everything to me (as it was my first tattoo) and was very professional. My Mom came with me to make sure that everything was sanitary and clean, and she was very pleased that everything was opened in front of us, brand new. I'm so happy that my first tattoo experience was a good one, and will keep coming back here for my future plans. read more

Kaleb does great work, he is a very talented artist and I wouldn't trust anyone else to tattoo me. I am a loyal customer, one of many. If you want ink he is the man. He has a website with a lot of his work on it at a touch of color.com, he is also on Facebook. A good way to see how good someone is, is to look at their work. I have 5 tattoos and 4 of them were done here by Katie. When I started going here (about 3 years ago) she was an apprentice. She's come a long way and has proved she's talented! All of my pieces have clean line work and I instantly fell in love with each one as she brought them to life. Aside from the art, a bonus would be her personality. The shop gives off a great vibe. I absolutely love this place. I have gotten 4 tattoos done so far, all by Kaleb the head tattoo artist, and i LOVE them. Kaleb is extremely friendly and kind and does everything he can to give you exactly what you want. My mother has gotten all of her tattoos done here and so has my brother. None of us have had a bad experience and all of us have left extremely satisfied with our tattoos. Definitely a great place to go get that ink you've been wanting. Highly recommend. read more

I went to A Touch Of Color for my fourth tattoo. This was by far the best tattoo experience I have had. The artist was very friendly and professional. The shop is very clean. I did not feel rushed or pressured at all. I was a bit of a baby while getting tattooed, but the artist was very kind. That was the first time that has happened to me. Very happy! This was my first tattoo, so I was so nervous about the pain and I wanted to make sure I got exactly what I wanted. I've heard horror stories about people getting bad tattoos, or there's misspelled. But it turned out great. They were so nice and helpful. I took my daughter yesterday for her first tattoo. Living in NY, you must be 18 years old and since she is 16 we made the hour and a half drive to have this done.
