We used GP Movers for a 2 day move with three movers, starting at our old house on one day and finishing at our new house on the next (after closing). Our move involved loading a 26' truck (which was pretty much full by the end of the day) and then unloading the truck and a previously filled POD. I called to schedule a move about two weeks in advance (for a move at the end of the month) and GP Movers was the only company that could accommodate our schedule. Although they were initially late on the first day, I received a call from Ben prior to their projected arrival, alerting me of the situation. Once the guys arrived (probably about 60-90 min after our scheduled start time), they got right to work and were able to finish in under the quoted time. (And this included a lengthy struggle with a huge desk and a narrow passageway.) On the next day, they arrived (just a little late) but again, finished well under the quoted time. Although we had them both days in the afternoon (after they moved someone else in the morning), they were still working really hard (in the hot sun) and very courteous. Over the two days we had Taylor, Jack, Shahan, and Matt and all were very accommodating and friendly. Moving is never fun but these guys were such a big help! read more

Fantastic! This was my first experience hiring movers, and I will DEFINITELY hire this company again in the future. The owner, Ben, and his team arrived exactly on time, and were very efficient and friendly. They provided all the moving blankets, etc. & were careful with all of my items, especially those that I pointed out already had some damage. They wrapped each piece of furniture, and I was not worried about their safety in the move. And these guys move! They were working from the time they arrived until the job was done, so I never felt like I was paying them to "stand around". They do not have a ridiculous minimum time commitment like a lot of the other moving businesses do - and which is not usually necessary for someone moving within town - and don't charge for their travel costs to and from the job. I recently moved and used General Purpose Movers. This company is excellent! Reliable, reasonable and their workers were prompt, professional, cordial and unbelievable workers! Shout out to Kevin and Jack. You guys did a great job! They arrived and started working immediately. They were very careful with my furniture and assembled everything perfectly. The weather was ridiculously hot and humid. If it wasn't for Kevin, Jack, Ben and GP Movers we would have been up a creek without a paddle! I am very grateful that I was introduced to your company on short notice. I was in a jam due to a snafu with the real estate contract and Ben took care of us. I will use General Purpose Movers the next time I move which will be within the next 12 months. I may be relocating to Denver and will definitely use this moving company for a long distance move. We recently had General Purpose Movers move my apartment belongings to a new house. They did a superb job! They were very professional in all aspects - from the scheduling to the moving. Ben and Taylor were pleasant and very efficient. And also very patient! Since we were merging two households there was some confusion as to where certain pieces of furniture should go but Ben and Taylor understood that and even moved some pieces a couple times within the house! Also, their rates were much lower than some of the other companies I checked out. Even with a hefty tip it only came to $400 whereas two other companies quoted me between $850 and $900. Hoping not to have to move again for a very long while, but when/if we do, General Purpose will be our first call! read more

The best of the best! We were expecting the move to take 6+ hours. GP Movers had it done in 5, and we had way more stuff than I expected. I had a one bedroom apartment, Adam and Jack had the place cleared out in 30 minutes. I had one more place that needed to be moved, and they cleared it in 2 hours! Boxes, a massive china cabinet, dressers, you name it, they moved it. Both Adam and Jack moved quickly and handled everything with great care. Clearly they both have done this before, because our new place had some tricky stairs to work around, and I couldn't believe how fast they got it done. 100% will hire these guys again, and if you get Adam and Jack to move, consider yourself in great hands. When searching for a moving company in Madison, I came across GP Movers. I sent them an online request for a quote and almost immediately received an answer. Ben, the owner, and his team showed up for my move to Chicago early (yay!) and moved my things quickly and efficiently. They were very personable and professional. When we got to Chicago, they moved my possessions (about a studio worth) into my third floor walk up apartment in around an hour. They even set up my bed frame and bed in my room. I used GP Movers for an out-of-state move, and they were fantastic. They showed up on time and remained in contact with me throughout the drive. Pablo and Ben were very professional and careful with my furniture. With a move, there's a possibility of dents/scratches. Was very happy with GP Movers. It was just a small job, two hours tops to move heavy furniture around my house, attic, and various storage areas. Even though it was a small job, my business was still treated like a big expensive move by Ben and staff. I had two college students help me, and they were incredibly polite and courteous. We had a positive experience with this company today. They arrived promptly at 9:00. They worked solidly for 3 hours to load the truck in high heat. Nothing was damaged since they were very careful about how and where they put each piece of furniture or box. They decided to call a third person to help unload getting the work done very efficiently. They were finished 1/2 hour before the estimate as a result. They also came in below their estimated amount!
