The house had stains, cobwebs, and a more than a few subtle but present unpleasant odors. Justin and his colleague Tony showed up right on time and got to work. They carried dozens of heavy totes up from our downstairs and carefully packed dishware we were donating. They also took a detour to help us move my mom out of the assisted living facility before going back to work on the house. I have moved myself many times in the past, but this time I was going to hire movers. I looked through Yelp and found A Way Home Movers at the top of the list. While talking with Justin I decided to go with them. It was a great decision. Justin showed up early with his team of two (Elijiah and Vince) After meeting each of them and showing them everything that needed to be moved, they got to right to work. And of course it rained on and off during the move. They worked their butts off. They were a great team, and had a great attitude throughout the move. I enjoyed joking around with them. They have a great work ethic. I had totally underestimated the amount of "stuff" I had. They were fine with taking longer than they had originally planned. My dad has Alzheimer's and I needed help getting him moved to a memory care facility. They were right on time meeting me at my dad's soon-to-be-former apartment building. I gave them a little heads-up about dealing with my dad because of his dementia, and we formulated our plan. Some stuff needed to go to my garage, and the rest to my dad's new place. Justin and his guys were fast! I couldn't believe how quickly they got everything into the truck. But they were very careful not to let anything get damaged. I even told them not to worry about some stuff (my dad had spilled coffee and otherwise messed up some of the stuff), but they still handled everything with care. Moving the stuff into my garage was a breeze. These guys must be good at Tetris, because it took up a lot less space than I expected. Then, they followed me in their truck to my dad's new digs. They were sensitive to the residents of the memory care unit, and always polite. Everything was into my dad's new place in no time. Payment was a breeze - I used a credit card via Square. And like that, the job was done. It took half the time I thought it would, and was pleasant! Honestly, I hate moving, but these guys are great. After 1100 miles and 2 days on the road, it was a pleasure to see Justin and Elijah arrive punctually and ready to work! Even though we couldn't get the truck as close to the front door as we'd liked to, they were cheery and happy to adjust. Best movers around! Our move was the Saturday before Memorial Day and it had been shaping up to be a mess. Last day before lease was up, from a 3rd floor apartment with no elevator and narrow stairwells, two other locations to pick up from, two locations to drop off at, three cities and 3 future in-laws total. Needless to say, I was stressed for what was to come. It took minutes, if that, for me to do a complete 180° and chill right out. He and another employee came (on time) with a truck and worked hard all day, no loafing around, but were very personable and respectful. I had to move from the far East side to the near West of Madison. I have some very heavy pieces that were family heirlooms. The movers were on time - they brought ME a cup of coffee because they knew it was going to be a long day and they worked from 8 am until 7pm stopping only for a brief lunch. They treated every piece of furniture and every box as if it were their own personal items. Let's face it, everyone hates moving and we've all had those movers that just threw stuff in the truck and you weren't sure it if was going to get there in one piece or not. Justin and Scott do their jobs well. They were able to squeeze me in with just a week's notice at the end of August. They usually have a four hour minimum, but Justin required just a two hour minimum since ours was later in the day. The move took an hour longer than estimated, but I was still very satisfied with the service. These guys work hard and move quickly, all with a smile on their faces and great attitude. I could barely get them to take a break to use the bathroom or have some water. They even offered great suggestions for where to place the furniture that I would not have thought myself. We used A Way Home Moving to move over Labor Day weekend. It felt like a little bit of a risk because there aren't a lot of reviews of them out there but we are so happy that we took a chance with them! Justin and Derek showed up right on time and worked steadily throughout the day, despite the fact that the weather was terrible (heavy rain alternating with heat and humidity). The move took about 10 hours (we had A LOT of stuff) and they only took a short, 15 minute break to eat a quick lunch. I was worried when it started raining, but they wrapped everything in blankets and kept right on working. The best thing about the move was how cheerful and professional the guys were. I think that's because it's a family owned business (Justin is one of the owners) so they had a lot invested in making sure that everything went well. And it's really clear that they love what they do. At one point I apologized for how brutal the weather was and Derek just lit up and said, "We're completely in our element!" Even towards the end of a very long day, they made us feel like there was no place they would rather be than hauling all of our stuff up and down stairs. They were really nice about us changing our mind about which room we wanted some of the furniture in and they treated everything like it was precious cargo. I've moved several times before and inevitably something always ends up breaking but this time everything arrived in perfect condition. They had to remove a door and take apart a few pieces of furniture to get everything inside and then they put everything back together perfectly.
