I contacted him via Yelp. He asked for me to email him. I then had to email him 3x for a response. At which he gave me a 1 hour window and I then confirmed right after I would meet him at my home at the time he suggested. I reconfirmed with him during the window he had confirmed as it was a Friday and he gave me a one hour window and was concerned he may not show up. Then he responded that I never confirmed (which i did and showed him the screen again) and he said it's too late and he could not make it. Very bad business to have someone wait after you already confirmed and had to email so many times to even get a response. I am not about to chase someone and this is poor customer service. We had water leaking into our bedroom from above the window. Additionally, two separate windows on the other end of the house were having the same issue. I contacted GMS and within one day Greg responded and provided a thorough explanation as to what was happening. He backed his theory by explaining that my neighbor had the exact same issue and he performed the repairs to their windows approximately one year prior. Greg urged me to contact my neighbor to ask about their experience prior to hiring him. I did exactly that and was told by my neighbor that Greg's work completely resolved their water issues. I was sold and thus hired Greg. Greg tackled the first project within 2 days of providing the quote. After he was finished, I surprised him with the other 2 windows and asked how soon he could address these. 2 days later, he returned to handle this issue. Both jobs clearly tackled the root cause of the water leaks as there have been no issues since Greg's work. The solution worked for several months with a few big rains, then the problem returned. Greg was hard to get a hold of and then he was super defensive as if I was making up the problem, and ghosted me trying to get him to come back and take a look. Highly recommend Greg and team at GMS. Easily identified and resolved a problem from the original home build, that many other contractors have looked at and not fully addressed. Fixed the siding and flashing around a sliding glass door that was causing water to get inside the garage. I had a good experience with GMS. They came out for a water intrusion issue in my buildings stairwell. They were easy to schedule an appointment with and were prompt to show up. They provided a solid estimate and were quick to get to work on approval. They tracked down the leak and worked to get it patched up and then fixed the remainder of the damage and were done within a few days. They were pretty on-target with the estimate, as well. Greg was amazing. Came out 30 minutes after I called and did a through assessment of the problem without even charging me. He quoted me a totally reasonable rate for the work - showed up as promised and did a great job getting rid of my mold problem. He even did some extra work (removing an electrical connection in the wall) and didn't charge me extra for it. I don't fault the lag in that first response, but why have a Yelp contact screen only to ignore it and reroute inquiries? I hired Greg based on these reviews. We had water coming in from the ceiling in our laundry room. Initially he was responsive and said he'd identified our problem and did some work on some flashing on my roof. I paid him. Next big rain, water is coming in same place. I called, emailed and texted over the course of many months. He's ghosted me and refuses to respond. I get that this can be an inexact science sometimes and may even require some trial and error. Greg certainly knows that too. I wouldn't recommend him or, at bare minimum, DO NOT pay him the total amount until you're sure the issue is resolved. Greg came out and suggested replacing the window flashings, which would have been a much cheaper approach than replacing the Hardie board plank siding. We live in the bottom unit of a three-unit condo that was built around 8 years ago. The building looks nice and modern, but we've learned the hard way that these new constructions are often built to sell and not to last. We have had constant leaking since we moved in three years ago. We've called many contractors over the years to get the issue fixed. Some recommended sealing the windows of the unit above us, which was done. Some thought it was a building-wide issue stemming from poor roofing, which was investigated and repaired. Most suggested that since the water intrusion did not originate from our unit, that there was nothing to be done other than trying to force the units above us to reinstall all their windows. Our ceiling leaked through all of this. For three years. All that changed when I called General Moisture Solutions. Greg suggested that we were missing pan-flashing that would prevent the leak from coming into our unit, and had his guys come by and install it. This all happened within the last three days. After three years of trying to get this issue fixed, it sounds unbelievable that Greg and his guys were able to identify/address the issue so quickly. However, General Moisture Solutions is really the only company I've found that specializes in this type of work and they really excel at it. If you've been dealing with any water intrusion issue I could not recommend this company more highly (I am guilty of rarely writing reviews, but wanted to write this one). I see that there are some negative reviews concerning availability, but in my experience the scheduling was pain-free. This is even more impressive considering that they are the only reliable Chicago-area company I've found that specializes in this type of work, so they must be very busy every time we have a rainy period. read more

Greg came out to look at our problem again, but basically told us that unless we changed our initial review to a very positive one, then he would not give us a requote nor would he help us fix our downstairs. I wasn't really willing to change my initial review without any actual work done to review, and was kind of upset that he refused to give us even a requote unless I changed my review since I thought that was very unprofessional, so we ended up getting it fixed by another contractor. For professionalism reasons, I can't recommend him. Anyone that has tried to use that service knows about the bias. Pay-to-play at its' best. Disclaimer: We did not have any work done by Greg/GMS. With all the rain this spring we discovered two leaks in the basement of the home we purchased about a year ago. They really aren't anything substantial, but we decided to have them checked out just in case there was a quick and easy fix. I missed the first appointment that we set up, I was out in the backyard and forgot to listen for my phone. Greg was willing to set up a return appointment. He came out last night and took a look around. He determined that the leaks won't stop without major work...I might be able to fix the two leaking spots now, but it will probably just move and leak elsewhere.
