I wanted my 4 year old to been seen after his big sister came down with strep. I first stopped at Focus and walked right out. Though they had no wait, they didn't have any rapid strep tests. So I drove down the street to give WellNow a try. Their parking lot was packed so I almost just kept going to head to the pediatric urgent care. But I decided it was worth a shot. The receptionist was kind. She took my sons info but gave me a heads up that 9 patients were ahead of him. We waited with a bunch of teenagers and adults but they had a Pac-Man Arcade machine and a Slurpee machine if I got desperate and needed to entertain him if the wait dragged on. In my mind I was giving them 30 minutes before I would head home and try the pediatrician the next day. 20 minutes later our name was called by a very friendly nurse who cheerfully greeted my little boy. The halls and rooms very clean. After being in the room for a few minutes a very child friendly PA named Sawyer came in with an assistant. He discussed my concerns. Then moved on to check out my son. Right away my 4 year old was comfortable with his fun and gentle approach. Even the nurse that came in to swab his throat knew all the tricks to put Parker at ease. They were so kid friendly and in tune with my 4 year olds possible worries that he did not stress out or cry once. This is HUGE-- my son is super sensitive and sick kids are extra emotional. I cannot praise them enough for the kid friendly environment they created with the team that worked last night. They addressed my strep concern and then asked about his cough and helped with that secondary concern. They for sure went above and beyond. **Any parent wondering if there is a kid friendly urgent care in the Lancaster/Depew area-- this is the one. Especially if Sawyer and his team are working. ** (One suggestion would be to allow your TV to switch channels/have Disney or Netflix so parents of young ones could entertain them with out sugar and video games ;)

After finishing registration she said okay you can go have a seat and they'll get to you whenever they can. There were four people ahead of us. After us came in a young white male, an African America woman and she was registered immediately and told it would be at least an hour so if she wanted to go run errands she could. The woman opted to go get food and come back. After she left approximately four other patients were register and seated. Every person who entered before us and after us had been called back and we also saw some be treated and leave. All of them were Caucasian. Why was the African American woman told she'd have to wait and hour and I'm watching white patients walk in, register and be called back within 15 minutes? We were the only people in the waiting room and we opted to leave. The woman who registered us immediately said y'all have good day. Not oh wait they'll be with you soon, not are you coming back, not, hold on let me see where you are in line, not I'm so sorry do you want to come in later or tomorrow morning. None of that. We received y'all have a good day. Hmmmmm I honestly had a negative feeling upon entering going there. My gut said no and I went anyway. Don't run the insurance as if we were treated. We never made it past the waiting room. I would have given zero stars for had I been able to. I highly do not recommend.

Tomorrow I switch to a high deductible plan so today was my last chance to get bloodwork paid for by my current insurance, so I booked it down to West Seneca after work. This location is quite streamlined. You sign in on a tablet and there's a large screen tv playing interesting programming with a side bar showing where you are in the queue and what the estimated wait time is. I was listed as Reb H. with a predicted wait of 23 minutes. It dropped to 18, then 15, then back to 18 when a person with an appointment signed in. There were 4 or 5 walk-ins ahead of me on the list when I signed in. Shortly after dropping to 8 minutes, I was called into the back. They quickly checked my insurance and there were plenty of hooks for my coat and bag. My phlebotomist was very professional and friendly and we were done in a matter of minutes. All told, I was out the door in 30 minutes which I found impressive with no appointment in the last hour before closing at the only Quest open at that moment. I've waited longer on Delaware Ave. with an appointment, but for all I know all the locations operate like this. One can hope!
