This staff's lack of empathy and customer service here is astonishingly awful. They are rude and don't hide very well that they are too busy doing non work (more details below) instead of servicing their clients/customers well. I blame it on the lack of supervisory control they once had at the hospital has freed them to be just awful to clients. I witnessed this with not just myself but everyone who walked in there. So yesterday (Friday) I walked in around 11:30am. My doctors office sent a bloodwork order earlier that morning (2 hours before I got there). When I arrived, there was 1 person in the waiting room. She had signed in about 8 minutes before I did and no one had come out yet. When you arrive, you have to sign in on a clipboard sheet and ring a doorbell to get them to come out. I did this, waited about 4 minutes, and rang again. Someone came out and I was immediately chastised that they were "busy" with others, yet there was 1 person in the waiting room ahead of me, and all the others (less than 10) had been crossed off the list. I only rang twice because no one acknowledges you, so how do you know they are aware you are there? Finally, they took me back, I saw lots of staff standing around having personal conversations. Once in the room, the staff insisted they had not received the order from my doctor. I immediately called the doctors office right there, they confirmed the 'fax' number the staff had given me and it was sent to them earlier that day, and again right after my phone call. I was told to wait in the waiting room. I did and when finished with my doctors office, I again rang the buzzer and with an "ugh" was told they didn't have the order and it was my doctors fault because they had been receiving orders all morning. No one cared to get to the bottom of this, even though they were not that busy. I want to make a point of how absolutely rude, condescending and unhelpful every single person I talked to at this location was. Plus, the walls are very thin and and one staff member in particular has a loud voice and you can hear their entire conversations in the back just sitting in the waiting room. I heard all about travel plans, and someone being corrected for doing 'too much online shopping' instead of working. After an hour of waiting for the 'fax' that they insisted was not there, (BTW I was not the only one with this issue as subsequent people who came in did as well) I asked again where is this fax? I want to point out that when they were located at the hospital, these same people would NEVER have acted like this. I know they have helped me and other people with their 'fax' issues, but outside the confines of the hospital they were emboldened to not only do the bare minimum of their jobs, they insisted there was nothing they could do and at this point they did not hide their disdain for me. At this point I remind them I've heard their conversations about me, their personal plans, shopping and vacation plans, and boy did that upset them! "That is personal information!!" one shouted at me - but I could not help but hear her through those thin, newly painted walls!! I left without the bloodwork, got a hard copy from my doctor and will go somewhere else like KSL or Catholic Health. So when you go, if you don't have your doctors bloodwork order, go somewhere else. Even if you do, be prepared for the rudest, most condescending, staff that should not be in a field requiring empathy and compassion. All I can say is I hope someone at Kaleida reads and either re staffs that location and fires this group or forces them to work in the confines of the hospital where they would be better behaved.

Two nurses attempted to draw blood from my 4-year-old daughter and repeatedly stuck her arm with the needle multiple times. There was no proper care, patience, or compassion shown toward a young child who was clearly frightened and in pain. Watching my daughter be treated this way was heartbreaking and unacceptable. A pediatric patient should never be handled so roughly or without consideration for their emotional and physical well-being. This experience was traumatic for Serena and for me as a parent. I would not recommend this lab to families with young children, and I hope management addresses staff training and accountability so no other child has to go through this.

So my Doctor (who is in the same building) sent a request over for X-rays. I checked in very easily. Woman who checked me in was very nice. It's always a relief to have a hassle-free process when you are sick. Waiting room was nice and it was big enough that no one had to sit next to a stranger. There was a large TV on to watch and magazines. Not sure what else because I pretty much live on my phone in any waiting area. When I was called back, I was taken to a little room to change into gowns from the waist up. The woman did not tell me there were lockers for my stuff so I left my clothes in there initially. Whoops! There are lockers in the SECOND waiting area where patients on deck wait. Just find one with a key in it and that's available. Take out the key and put your stuff in. I kept my phone with me to keep me entertained and no one said anything :) The second waiting room is small - only 6 chairs. But the only people in there are patients going up next. It's not the most comfortable to be sitting around men when you are in a gown with no bra on but hey we are all in the same boat. There is a TV in this room as well. The man who did my X-rays was very nice. I did not feel uncomfortable and it was over quickly. Next I went back to the small waiting room once more while a doctor looked over my images. Even though I was there an hour and a half, it went by fairly quickly. They are efficient and I imagine had there been less patients, I would have gone in faster. Great place and easy process. Although it took longer than anticipated, I was very comfortable here and would not dread going back.

(I am admittedly very nervous about this, but then lots of us are.) The staff is nearly always cheerful and attentive, the facility is spotless and conveniently located on Youngs Road in Williamsville. But watch out, the road sign is placed parallel to the road, but it ought to be perpendicular so you can see it, plus it's set back from the road a bit. You'll likely pass it the first time. Anywho, the place is perfectly comfortable, although it's not a mega-facility, which is my personal preference. It's clearly an efficient, well-run facility. The waiting room is comfy and the wait time is reasonable. Also, scheduling an appointment is always easy peasy, they're super accommodating. When your name is called, you're escorted to the changing area that is much like a small changing stall at a gym. They don't leave you waiting anxiously for too long, in your opens-in-the-front gown. The images are taken and you're brought to the next room, a sort of holding area, in case they need more images. This particular screening procedure is well, unpleasant -- anywhere you go. But it's so miniscule in duration, it's tolerable. They do their best. They even offer "comfort pads" for $5 which I tried once. Let's face it, it's like putting on a texting glove while the door is slammed on your finger. The doctor reads your films while you wait. In due time, you're either dismissed by the tech with a letter of all clear or you get the additional images if the doc needs to see a different view. Once, they gave me the option of having further images via ultrasound then and there, or to schedule a return appointment for it. Of course I let them do their business right then, the problem was even resolved that day. From the people at the front reception desk, to the technicians, to the doctor, I've always had a very good experience at Spectrum Radiology. Now go get your mammo!

Off to 180 Park Club Lane I dashed and into the new location. It was a little unnerving as I don't like change and signage was not real clear. I checked in to the friendly front office worker behind glass. There was plenty of hand sanitizer around and all people were properly masked. Info was exchanged and a non-touch temp taken of my wrist. I barely sat down when I was called for my imaging. Holy cow I was so nervous. I was pleasantly shown to a little changing booth, told here's where you take your stuff off, and place your clothes in this bag and let me know when you're ready. Moments later I was ready and escorted to the mammo room and told her I was really anxious. She asked what I was afraid of. I said I'm just anxious. She then asked the magic question: so, do you have a dog? And instantly I was at ease as we chatted about rescue dogs and such. The procedure was honestly painless, minor - and I mean minor - discomfort. No cringing, no bullets to bite. This woman is a super pro. Snap! Just like that, I was done. We walked to a seating area, I clutching my pink plastic bag, gown still on. Before I had time to drum my fingers, worry what they might find, and what seemed like moments later, I was awarded a piece of paper with the "all good" area checked and see ya next year. Seriously? This thing I was dreading was now over? I will return here and ask for this pro again. Very happy. Now time for a Tim Horton's reward! TimBit anyone?
