The last thing any of us wants to deal with is car maintenance, the time it takes, the obligation,…read moreand, especially in this economy, the drain on the wallet. But alas, we need our wheels to keep us on the road! I called around to several local shops, and there are A LOT, but for me and my vehicle, there was no need to look any further. Adirondack Tire & Service had the best price AND no wait. I was able to make an appointment, drive in, and they immediately took my car to the back and got to work. I honestly felt like I barely had a chance to open my book and sit down before they called me up to say it was ready! Okay, that's a slight exaggeration. But I'm used to expecting an hour or two at places like this. Not here. I was probably in and out in 15-20 minutes. Sarah, the receptionist, was an absolute all-star. Curly was funny, personable, and clearly knows his stuff. And now, Dominic... GIVE THIS GUY A RAISE! He made me feel like I was at a five-star, million-dollar dealership getting my Bentley serviced, and, for the record, I do not own a Bentley! Dominic was a top-of-the-line mechanic who took care of my car and made sure it was ready to hit the road for a cross-country trip. That kind of care gives you some serious peace of mind when you know you've got thousands of miles ahead of you. I truly love this place and will happily trust them with my family's vehicles. Not simply because of what they provide, but because of the service they give. Great price. Great people. Great service. You've earned a returning customer!

Dear Mavis discount tire crew,…read more I just want to say everyone there was exceptionally kind, resourceful, informative, and helpful. A special shout out to Chelsea front desk, Thomas, Gino the mechanic and Julian the manager. It was two days before Thanksgiving, we had just driven three hours to pick up my son from college and our starter died. Our car insurance had the tow drop us off at Firestone across the street from Mavis. Firestone said they had a full waiting room and it would be four days before they could even touch our car. Mavis was across the street, they also had a full waiting room, the mechanic kindly walked across the street, took a look at our car and gave us a few suggestions, that not only saved us $$$ money and they got us up and running in less than two hours. In addition, the crew organized to stop traffic while they and my sons pushed the car in neutral across the street, from the Firestone lot to the Mavis lot. If that is not full perfect customer service I don't know what is. We are so thankful to the Mavis team, I was able to get my family back home in time to make Thanksgiving dinner.

I came for a wheel alignment & I was told to come back in two hours because they were busy, it was cutting close to me having to be at work but I said okay. Picked it up on a Tuesday, and by Thursday I had the exact same issue, which then caused the engine to overheat. I had to take it back to get it fixed AGAIN. They tried to tell me it is normal for a large repair to have issues, which is a way to gaslight me, when they should have fixed it right the first time. I have been to this location before. Once it took over 3 hours to get a simple oil change, which I had an appointment for. When I complained about them taking so long for something I could have done in 30 minutes somewhere else, they then tried to upsell me with major repairs, that I didn't need or have done. My partner took their car there for an oil change appointment and was told that they didn't have time that day, although they had an appointment, and seemed surprised they couldn't leave it overnight for a 30 minute procedure. If they didn't have time, they should have called before the scheduled appointment to see if it needed to be rescheduled. I have felt that they talk down to me, as I appear female, and have issues that my partner has not had. They are sexist and act like I know nothing about my car and think that I will just buy anything they suggest.

I brought my 2010 Mini Cooper to Firestone Troy after the A/C suddenly stopped working and started blowing hot. I'd tried recharging it myself but got an overpressure reading, so I booked the soonest appointment I could. The staff were friendly and suggested adding dye during the recharge to check for leaks, which seemed reasonable. A few hours later, they let me know the compressor wasn't working and offered to run further diagnostics for an added cost. What caught me off guard was that they'd already completed the full evacuate and recharge -- even though the compressor wasn't engaging. I was told it had been necessary to identify the problem, but later realized that wasn't accurate. In the end, I paid $341 and left with no resolution. If the story ended there, this might have been a 1- or 2-star review -- so I encourage anyone who's had a less-than-ideal experience to follow up. In my case, given the chance, they absolutely made it right. I reached out to Firestone's corporate office via their website to share what happened. Since the service included a performance check, I felt the compressor issue should have been caught before moving forward with the recharge. Fortunately, my message was passed along to the right people, and TJ, the store manager in Troy, reached out to me directly. After I explained that I'd eventually traced the issue to a blown fuse, he gave it some thought and agreed a full refund made sense. I stopped by the shop later that day, and he credited my card on the spot. He also mentioned that he'd used the experience as a training opportunity for his team, which I really appreciated. Things don't always go perfectly -- but how a business responds matters. Thanks to Firestone corporate looping back to the branch, and TJ's professionalism and willingness to make it right, I left feeling heard and respected. I'd absolutely return and now feel good recommending Firestone Troy to others.
