If you value your vehicle, do not bring it here. Truck was miss diagnosed and up charged for things on my vehicle. Brought it back multiple times giving them the benefit of the doubt.. charged more for things not needed and just for the new parts they replaced to be installed improperly.. very unfortunate because the workers used to be good. It only took me 7.5 years to find the BEST auto service in the capital region. They are 100% committed to their customers and really go above and beyond to make sure you and your vehicle are taken care of. I know that my car is taken care of and any service that is needed is not only done in a timely manner but done correctly and that makes me feel completely safe driving off. The value of the services needed are also extremely reasonable. Whether it be an oil change or wheel bearings I know I am taken care of on all aspects/levels of being served as a #1 customer. And they treat everyone like this as I've witnessed from sitting in the waiting area and the interaction between not only the employees with the guests but also the owner introducing himself and speaking the customers. I have a 1954 Jaguar XK120 Coupe tribute with a Ford 3.8 V6 and drivetrain and frame from a 1984 Cougar. Back in the 70's when I was a kid my Pop shared with me his passion for race cars from the 50's and 60's. We used to spend evenings pouring over the pages in car books and he would tell me about the classic lines on the cars, and the famous drivers and designers. Our favorite was the Jaguar, but the closest he could ever afford was a beat up MGB-GT which he slowly restored. In 2023 my Pop passed away from Alzhiemer's while living with me in my home. While I was caring for him I found this car neglected and rotting away in an empty lot next to my Girlfriend's house. The owner, overwhelmed with other projects, had allowed it to sit in the open for years covered only with a shredded tarp. Unable to save my Pop from the inevitable decline of his disease, I decided I would save this unique car which reminded me of good times with him and our sports car dreams. Mouse nests, Algae growth, and weeds growing under the hood, no mechanic I called would agree to look at it. One call to Capitaland Auto Service and they agreed tow it and take a look! Much thanks to Joe Peek for patiently troubleshooting and rebuilding the block! Joe brought this unique Frankenstein back to life and patiently towed me back to base several times when other neglected parts failed, like alternators, and ignition control modules. He even found a rag left in the oil pan that had been there for years. Hence the new name for my car is 'Ole Rags'. I appreciate Joe 'daring' to take this project on and committing to the project when many shops refused to look at it. It is a very cool car worthy of restoration and my Pop would have loved it. My car was taken there after it broke down, needed to get it towed out to get it closer to home to figure out the next step. Instead of hooking up a jump pack to power the vehicle to get the gear shifter to move, they decided to rip apart the center console, wound up being a massive expense to get it back to it's original condition. Had the engine replaced for nearly half the price they quoted as well with one that had way less milage than the one they offered. read more

Wow.....stay clear of this place. Worst experience anyone could ever imagine. Took a perfectly fine running car that I just wanted to be looked over to make sure it was up to date with all services and they have basically destroyed it. And the rudeness and stupidity-ignorance-arrogance of the staff is beyond anything I've ever encountered. Back for the fourth time to try to fix something they destroyed.... And they are blaming me! Will review after this visit to see if the really stand by their work. In the meantime do yourself a favor and stay clear of this place!!!! I used to love this place. Last 2 oil changes the tech was too lazy to wipe the oil off the frame and reset my oil gauge. I wound up with multiple oil spots on my driveway. Today was the last straw. After being told that a part I needed was ordered and arrived, I scheduled an appointment for 8am this morning. My truck was taken into the bay and after about 15 minutes I saw it being removed. I thought I was all done,only to be told that they neglected to order the complete part and the rest of the part would arrive in .5 hrs. 45 minutes later,I told Josh I had to leave as I had a 10am appointment. He apologized and said he'd have the tech bring my truck up because they hadn't even started work on it. After sitting there for over 1.5 hrs, I left, never to return! read more

It's a real dysfunctional clown show here. I believe it was the clown missing teeth who quoted me a price. They make me wait a week to bring the car for service. I drop the car off, they have no notes regarding quote I was given?? The same toothless clown tells me he'll figure out price and text me. I wait an hour( no text). I get there and the price for the original quoted job increased by $120. I explained the quote I was given was $120 less. The toothless one explains it was an estimate. Since when does a quote for service increase by $120. I better get in the business of selling struts. Stay away. You'll probably witness the same clown show I handed the guy my key an hour sooner and toothless is fumbling around. Never again. Ifd give these guys a 0 if possible. Save yourselves read more

They have had our truck for 11 days. EVERY single time we call they say ' we were JUST ABOUT TO CALL YOU'! wow that's interesting. Made a repair this is to fix the last repair. Air conditioning issue so that can happen. Now we talk to someone Monday they say we just brought it in the shop. after a week. Ok busy. Now we call back talk to Joe the owner he says 'he has had it charged for a week now' ohhh! Again interesting seeing your guy already told us another story! Then I'm not happy maybe a little bitchy but he in turn starts yelling at me because I wouldn't listen to the lies. He talked over me! Reprimanded me totally unprofessional and never honest. Don't insult my intelligence and get your stories strait. On and on how it has been charging blah blah. So disappointed! Be honest at minimum! read more

Joe and the guys at Capitaland are great! They are honest, professional and extremely knowledgeable. When I first started bringing my vehicle there I had a problem that 2 other shops could not diagnose which left me feeling hopeless. Joe was able to figure it out and get me back on Road. He was patient, answered all of my questions and broke down the problem so I could actually understand what caused the issue. Needless to say i was highly impressed. joe is a great tec. but his help is going to ruin his reputation and business, customer relations verry poor. had a $1500 brake job 2yr ago,had driven 4013 miles since.leaving 7682miles lefl on warenty but 24month warenty was over. paid another $582 for just the front pad and roters' t.o get inspection. called back next day glen said he would do for me and said he would call me back and hung up he never did. 8yr customer done there. read more

Wonderful, professional service. I was in Albany on business and I needed an important repair. That were fast, fair and great to deal with. I highly recommend this repair shop. Also, they are NAPA affiliated so if your part fails it is covered by NAPA anywhere you go. Two months later the wheel bearing I had replaces failed. Thankfully I used a NAPA repair center and the repair was covered. ALTHOUGH my mechanic told me I was grossly over-charged. My bill was $500 at Capital Land and the average rate is $350 for this repair. read more

This is my first time trying to bring my business here and it's most definitely my last. I called to schedule a car inspection and the gentleman who answered was very impatient and rude saying that they only schedule inspections in the morning. This is unfortunate considering I work during the day and needed a later time. Been here before. Repairs and service always complete and successful. Labor costs are definitely cheaper than dealers. Parts are very expensive. Typically more expensive than dealer. Quality aftermarket parts from local parts houses, usually marked up significantly. Dealer parts are actually cheaper. All said and done, with the personalized care, and competent service, I will continue to patronize. read more

I own an auto repair shop in Denver, Colorado that has been in business for 35 years. Last month, my son was driving on the Northway from college towards the Albany Airport to catch a flight to a job interview. His car broke down 20 miles from the Airport. The tow truck driver gave him a ride to the airport and dropped the car off at Capitaland. Within a day Rick determined that the engine in his car was not repairable and recommended that we forgo the expense of replacing it. They also helped arrange a sale of the car to a salvage company.
