We decided to stop in and try a different Ramen place. The restaurant is clean, great ambience with sitting inside and out. The staff was very helpful in making selections and had great recommendations. We ordered a variety of things from the menu and everything came out fresh. The food was very good. We all had different things and kept trying to eat each other's because the variety was incredible. I would highly recommend stopping here. We will definitely be back.

I think I just found my new favorite ramen spot! The vibe here is so good -- cozy, modern, and just the kind of place you actually want to sit and enjoy your food. I started with the CCR which is the crab meat over crispy rice and avocado and the edamame with black salt. It was so delicious that I almost forgot that I was here for ramen. I ordered the creamy chicken ramen bowl and when it came out I hit my happy dance. It was piping hot upon arrival, the broth was super flavorful, the noodles were cooked perfectly, and the chicken was spot on. The staff was really friendly and made sure I had everything I needed without hovering. I left full, happy, and already planning my next visit.

Been here twice and both times were a hit! Tonkotsu broth is rich, flavorful, and creamy. Spice levels are not as spicy as I expected but still delicious Th gyoza is outstanding - crispy on the bottom and soft on top. Ambiance is cute but a bit cramped in there. Overall great experience

Cute ramen spot in the vicinity of Raleigh. The ramen was good, broth had good flavor, noodles had good texture. Staff were very nice and we got our food quickly (when I went it was pretty late and there was only 1 other table occupied). The decor is cute too, there are anime memes on the wall. Not particularly stand out, but I liked this spot.

Wonderful experience at Gen Ramen last night. Low key restaurant, nice vibe, great prices for high quality food. I had the eel rice bowl and my friend had a veggie bao bun appetizer and the vegan ramen, which looked fantastic and I think non-vegetarians would enjoy it just as much as anyone. My friend said it was great. Good service, relaxed atmosphere, great food and great prices. Just a note - if you've been here before and enjoyed their selection of sushi they are sadly not offering sushi anymore. The focus is on ramen and rice bowls, with a poke bowl offering and a few small sushi appetizers, as well as some tempura apps. Highly recommend this place but unfortunately, no more sushi - just great rice and noodle dishes.

The ambiance was definitely top tier, with a modern atmosphere and Japanese anime accents it was a nice tie into culture and modern decoration. Eric, our server, was amazing. Sat us promptly and was very knowledgeable about the menu and he gave us multiple recommendations. The karaage was good but it was a bit overpriced for only being 5 pieces of chicken. We also tried the bao buns one being marinated beef and the other pork belly, they were VERY GOOD and flavor packed. The tonkotsu was good and rich. I wasn't a fan of the noodles. They were a little too thin for what I normally expect ramen to be. My husband got the Miso and he finished the entire bowl. I would have preferred the noodles that were in the miso ramen, over the noodles I had. Overall, it's a good spot for ramen and not too expensive. Walked out with a $56 dollar bill after getting 3 appetizers, and two bowls of ramen.

5/31 visit: My daughter and I had the taste for ramen but didn't want to travel too far out. We had been eyeballing this spot since we visited the taco spot a few months back. We decided to give it a try. It's a cute little spot with outdoor dining. We opted to eat inside. It's kid friendly, so no worries for us parents. The staff was awesome and friendly. Very helpful in answering our questions along with making suggestions and substitutions when allowed. Our server was on point with making sure our drinks were filled and our food didn't take long. It was fresh, hot and delicious. We ordered sushi, spring rolls, gyoza and 3 different ramen bowls. Nice size portions all around. Definitely will be back.

Now that I've frequented this ramen spot well over a dozen times, I feel even more confident in my 5 star review. Everything we've tried has been consistently excellent: the furikake fries, edamame (we added furikake seasoning), pork katsu bowl, and various types of ramen. The lemongrass vegan remains the standout favorite for me. It is perfectly delicious! The staff here are kind and attentive, and often remember my regular order and/or specific requests I always make (2 spicy mayos with the fries instead of ketchup). Remembering me and my order goes a long way in terms of my perspective on customer service! I drive from Wake Forest almost weekly for this ramen. That speaks volumes because I don't often leave my WF bubble. Haha! Keep up the great work, Gen Ramen chefs and staff!! And please consider opening a location in WF .

So I really enjoyed this place. I only came for drink but ended up getting some appetizers as well. Let me first say that they are pretty clean there So that stood out right out the gate. They're decorations are awesome. They have a lot of anime decorations in the restaurant and I can appreciate that. It was super dope! Choya umeshu is sweet plum - This was a sweeter sake if you're into that. It has a very upbeat profile. I probably could not drink a bottle of it, but eating it with some salty food probably set it off. Sayuri nigori - This had more of the sake vibe that you would expect, not any of the sweet fillers. I thought it was good, it came with a bottle so you get plenty of it. Shrimp tempura - I thought that the portions were a little bit small but they were mighty though. I enjoyed the flavor of them. They were fried really well. Soft shell crab tempura - They had a really good texture to them, and they tasted really good. It would not be a go-to thing for me, but I was not upset at all that I got it! If I was in the area I would definitely come back. They actually have some good looking ramen there that I want to try, I didn't do ramen because I had already eaten though unfortunately. But, it is on my list!

Gen Ramen is one of the newest Ramen spot in Raleigh. Located off of Wake Forest Rd in Raleigh. Gen Ramen serves some mouth watering ramen. If Ramen is not your jam then they also serve sushi. I got the classic Tonkotsu Ramen. You can't go wrong with that. The broth was perfect and the pork was cooked tender. If you're looking for a Ramen in Raleigh then Gen Ramen is your spot!!

I went in with my daughter a couple of days ago. This place was AWESOME! Everything was so flavorful and the service was great. We had the veggie ramen (so good) and sushi rolls. I consider myself a real expert in Ramen places, and this place has got to be among the top 3 I've ever had. Great value, great service. They go the extra mile to make sure everything is good, too. Got seated right away on a Sunday night. Ordered the takoyaki, which was awesome. Got the vegan lemongrass ramen and tonkatsu ramen, both medium spicy. There was a nice kick in the broth, which were both flavorful. Tonkatsu broth was a bit fatty. House sake was good. Service was quick. My dream girl and I decided to try a new ramen spot since we were in the area. We planned to enjoy the weather and sit outside, but as soon as we took our first bite of the 4 Pieces Shrimp Tempura, we were bothered by flies trying to join us. The staff was great and provided excellent hospitality, promptly serving our food. I had the Curry Ramen, which was just okay, while my dream girl had the Tonkotsu Ramen. The food wasn't bad, but it wasn't impressive enough to make us want to return. read more

Came in for lunch, I was one of three guests, then the only guest. There were 2 servers. They spent the entire time standing behind the counter talking. Did not check on me one time. A refill of water would have got them a 3. The ramen was ok but not worth the 19.00 lunch tab. It may have been an off day, the other reviews suggested this place was a 5 star spot. Unfortunately today was not that day. read more

Quick dinner. I noticed I wasn't asked about apice level for spicy lime beef ramen and I noticed other patrons were. Just a general note for the future as I love nose burning spice and expected it when ordering but nothing major. Great concept and will love to come again and get other ramens. read more

Really good place with a very nice staff. We had awesome service and the Tonkotsu ramen was great. We had the Chicken Karaage as well. Feel like the $10 for the chicken was a bit much, but the price for the ramen is perfectly fine! Would definitely recommend this place. read more

Atmosphere-wonderful, it was quiet for tonight (I am assuming because they are new) Food- Delicious, we got the takoyaki, Tonkatsu ramen, and a mochi pie. All of it was delicious and served very quickly, hot too. Service was so friendly and welcoming, we got seated right away, they were very attentive and just made the experience so much better. This is a really cute place. It was a blend of authentic Asian decor paired with tvs playing the nfl game and pop music on the speakers. The food was very good. We waited quite a bit of time for the food but it allowed us to have a more relaxing dining experience vs being rushed out of there. Staff was super friendly. read more

My husband and I tried the Tonkatsu Ramen, Rainbow Roll and buns. The broth was flavorful and the noodles were just the right texture. Sushi was fresh and overall the food was very flavorful and the portions were good. The ramen came with two eggs whereas most places only give one. The pork belly wasn't full of just fat, but proper meat cut as well. I rate this one of the best ramen that I've had in the Raleigh area above Tonbo and Iso Ramen. Good variety on the menu as well. Good ambiance. It was a little cold with the AC, but it was a weekday and not many people inside so that may have contributed and the music was a tad too much volume. They just opened so that's an easy fix depending on feedback they receive from more customers over time. I'd recommend this place and definitely will return. read more

While visiting the general area of the Gen Ramen I was drawn to the restaurant by its vegetarian menu. Today I ordered Lemongrass Vegan Ramen with spice level 2/4 and 5 piece vegetable tempura with soy sauce. The flavor of the Ramen soup was very flavorful and rightly specified. I enjoy it to the last drop. Also, I enjoyed the well prepared tempura with the dipping soy sauce. In all the friendly staff, excellent food and reasonable pricing, won me over. My husband and I came in for a late lunch on a Friday. We were kindly greeted by the hostess/server and brought to our table. The restaurant itself looked and smelled so clean, with cute decor as well! We ordered two tonkotsu ramens with level 2 spice, which was not overpowering at all and provided nice warmth. The portion size was generous with bouncy thin noodles and tender pork belly slices, among other toppings. The broth was rich and hit the spot perfectly. We also ordered the chicken karaage as a starter, which was deliciously crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. There was a nice selection of Japanese drinks and sodas as well. Also, we loved the cool 3D-printed Shin Godzilla and Ultraman figures lol. We're definitely going to be back the next time we are in Raleigh, as this is one of my top Ramen spots now. read more

I was excited to try the Ramen at Gen Ramen and it did not disappoint. I had the Tonkotsu Ramen and the broth for this dish was extremely flavorful. My friends had the Spicy Lime Chili Beef Ramen and Creamy Chicken Ramen and enjoyed their ramen dishes as well. I also tried the pork bao bun, shrimp tempura, and red dragon sushi roll. Came to Raleigh last month from a smaller town in NC and knew we had to get ramen, since our town barely had any Japanese places. Gen Ramen was near our hotel and on the cheaper side, I think we paid about $45 for two of us to have ramen and drinks. I had the tonkotsu ramen. The broth was flavorful and rich, and the chashu was juicy and seared, and they had two perfectly soft boiled eggs. After almost 6 months without ramen I was definitely not let down! Where do I start. This place has been my favorite ever since we discovered it hidden in a strip mall. If you are nearby and are able to dine in I would recommend this place. Great service. Ordered ramen for take out and it was still 10/10! We got the tonkatsu ramen--the broth was rich, deeply flavored and the perfect saltiness. The noodles were cooked perfectly and was a satisfying complement to the broth. The soft-boiled eggs were luxurious. Everything was well packaged and no leaking occurred on the drive home. I tried Gen Ramen last week when I was craving some good ramen for a cold I was trying to kick. I have been a Noodle Blvd. snob since I moved to Raleigh over 2 years ago. This day in particular I did not want to drive to Cary. I looked up this new spot and said why not? If y'all haven't tried Gen Ramen yet, run-don't walk! Their ramen is bomb. So so good, and flavorful! The first time I tried their chicken karaage and this too did not disappoint. The dipping sauce was really good. Tonight I ordered a salmon roll for my appetizer. Their sushi is so delicious and FRESH. This is my 2nd time here in 2 weeks and I can't wait to work my way through the menu. Even though I usually order takeout, I will say the staff here is amazing. They are so friendly, and always make you feel welcome when you walk in. And they thank every one of their customers. Great new edition, welcome! read more

Finally a good ramen spot in Raleigh! Almost brings a tear to my eye. I've only been twice, and only tried the tonkotsu ramen, but it's better than any of the ramen I've tried recently in the NoVA area. Dare I say it comes close to that of Japan (although it's been awhile). Also the waitstaff is super nice, and the interior is pristine. Writing this review has me feening for some Gen already. read more

First the good. The sushi and the tonkatsu ramen were very good. I'd rate the ramen better than most in the area. The bad is that the portion for a 16.00 ramen dish is very small. Probably the smallest ramen portion I've ever had at a ramen spot, and the only one I can remember not being fully after eating. read more
