Average kbbq spot but points for location. Good cuts of meat, clean interior, and as well as nice servers. However, it seemed the restaurants pacing was all over the place. We got served sides at awkward times , hard to order and it seemed like they weren't communicating well. AYCE was $30.99 and we got an order of yogurt soju ($17) which was light and refreshing. Standout orders were the garlic samgyubsal, and hangjungsal. Not too fatty or tough. I'd skip on bulgogi and go for the the spicy one. I'd also recommend the Chadol! Would come back if I had a strong craving for kbbq

GEN Korean BBQ is hands-down one of the best all-you-can-eat Korean BBQ spots for the money. The variety is huge. Everything from sweet and savory cuts to bold, spicy options--and the quality is consistently great. Their à la carte selections give you even more choices if you want to branch out beyond the AYCE menu. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and quick to help, and you can tell they follow safe food-handling practices, especially with all the raw meats constantly coming out. Every meal comes with the full spread of Korean accoutrements, and there are even more sides you can request if you know what to ask for. Great setting for large parties or an intimate date night. I've been here a few times now, and every visit has been delicious and worth it. Absolutely will be back.

Right as you walk in you are greeted to a nightlife ambiance where Dallas meets Korean BBQ. Didn't take me took to get seated, as the front of house person named Mimi, took me in right away. The menu is QR coded so you'll have to use your phone to look at the menu. They have a lunch and dinner menu. I came in right at 2pm and because it was a holiday I was able to order off the dinner menu which was $8 more dollars than the lunch menu. The dinner choices were a whole lot better offering better meat choices. Once seated, three types of kimchi come standard along with rice. Cabbage, cucumber and radish was the kimchi they offered. I ordered two beef belly's, chicken and a spicy pork bulgogi. I also ordered an appetizer, calamari rings. Now my experience with Korean BBQ was because of year long rotation to South Korea when I was in the military. So I know what to look for in terms of grilling and meats. Cooking the meat was easy as always. I did have issue with the grill seating. I felt like it didn't sit probably and whenever the meat had to be flipped the grilled almost inverted into the burner. So just keep an eye on that. The spicy pork bulgogi was delicious, the marinade they put on it has this sweet but spicy tang to it. The honey chicken was mediocre, it had a light taste to it, nothing special. The calamari rings.. oh boy. I felt like I was eating an onion/mozzarella ring. I do not recommend this. Normally I like eating the meats with lettuce almost like a lettuce wrap but they didn't have that option here, just a salad. I cooked the honey soy beef belly and gochujang beef belly at the same time. The honey soy beef belly was amazing, had a nice sweet taste to it. The other one was not that great, no flavor at all. They do offer different oils and sauces, but I never go for that. I would say the portions size are generous so that is a plus. If you want Korean bbq at a good price with good quality meats then come to Gen's. Edit: I initially gave this review a 4 star rating. However, I am changing it to a 1 star because I want to make the community aware of what may be happening in this establishment. I was charged $38.89 on my debit card and left a $10 tip. I received a kotidicaiton from my bank that a $20 tip was attempted to be taken out from Gen Korean BBQ House. I was appalled as I did not leave a $20 tip I left a $10 tip. So I called Tuesday morning as soon as they opened to find out why my card was charged a $20 tip. The manager told me they were going to hunt down my receipt and give me a call back. That call was never returned by the manager that day. I call again the next day. I talk to a different manager. The manager told me the same thing, and guess what? No call was returned. So to people that visit this establishment. Carry cash and pay in cash, because they may be up charging on people's cards and people may be unaware of the charges.

    Round 1
    Goodness I.

Okay so this was quite an experience I had never done Korean bbq before so it was definitely an adjustment. Thankfully I went with people who had been and can cook! It's a very interesting concept bc you cook most of the food yourself! The first thing I noticed when walking in was that the floors are VERY slippery-my friends said probably bc of all the oils. We left smelling like smoke/bbq/food?? Which I heard is normal. All that to say, everything I ate was so freaking yummy and I'd definitely do it again!

Amazing Korean BBQ with high quality meats and great flavors all around. The atmosphere was fun and welcoming. Our server, Jesus, took incredible care of us, attentive, friendly, and on top of everything. Manager Venda also made the experience great by taking the time to explain the menu and guide us through our options. If you're looking for incredible Korean BBQ with outstanding service, this place is a must visit. We'll definitely be coming back and asking for Jesus again!

We went here on a Sunday at around 11:30am. There was only one party in there, but as the day went on at 1:00pm the place was half full. Here are some warnings, just be careful where you walk as in most korean BBQ places the floor gets slippery with all of the grease involved. They have three types of menus to eat 1. Lunch menu from Monday to Thursday, rest dinner prices 2. Dinner menu Friday, Saturday, Sunday 3. $20 dollars for premium meat We ended up getting #3 which ended up costing us $51 dollars a person as we had the gift certificates that we got from Costco. They sold these at the Grand Prairie location if you want to know. We ordered mainly from the premium beef. I enjoyed the short rib on the big bone the most as we ended up getting two. I tried the ribeye steak and I enjoyed it, but my wife thought it was tough. We tried the wagyu beef, but it tasted like pork belly. We tried the sliced thin beef too and that was good as well. We got the lettuce salad which I substituted for the rice. Service was pretty good they were nice and were prompt. The manager even got involved serving the food. It will get slower as it gets busy, but it is okay. We did not enjoy the appetizers too much as I thought the Korean Fried Chicken was dried and it came with chicken breast. The noodles was alright. I did enjoy the dessert though the fried donut with filling, but I wish they did have ice cream as there is a lot of grease. Overall, I enjoyed the food, but it is something I could not do every week, but good once in awhile.

side dishes came out looking like this when we sat down. Looks like it was half eaten by another table.

We have been to another Gen location and service/food quality was always on point. Was excited to have one closer to central Dallas so we don't have to drive to Carollton. However, this location disappoints. Our side dish came out looking like it was taken from another table, half eaten (see pic below)---my friend and I looked at each other in disbelief. The kimchi was frozen when it arrived. Thankfully the meats were flavorful enough to make up for this appalling experience. Will be driving further to Carollton to get better K-BBQ.

Love coming here! Katie is an amazing person, she is super attentive and has been kind both of the times I have been here. She made me and my family feel welcomed and we can't wait to come again hoping she's there. The food was delicious and had had no issues at all. Ask for Katie on your next visit, you won't regret it!

The food and drinks were amazing our server Andrew had the best customer service he was super attentive. We will be back!

This place always hit the spot food and drinks were amazing! Andrew our server was the best! We will be back!

Food was amazing, the service was excellent, we got the menu explained to us by the manager Venda and our server Jesus went above and beyond to make sure that we were attended the best the whole time there, will me coming back for sure and make this a new recommendation for friends.

I could go on and on raving about how unique and fresh everything tasted but I think pictures speak louder than words. We ordered some traditional Japanese items such as snapper nigiri and karaage. We also ordered Nobu's creations. Everything was delicately cooked and beautifully presented to us. The lounge vibe was perfect as it allowed my friends and I to have our own space while being able to see the sushi bar from the side. Miguel was our server and he was super attentive and courteous throughout the whole night. The food runners were also very polite when stopping by our table asking if we were enjoying our food. My dinner ended with a special dessert. It was a piece of their Caramel Sobacha Brownie. I loved the earthy chocolatey taste of the tea and chocolate combined together. I had a very pleasant birthday celebration, thank you again!

It's an unassuming location but once you step through the doors you're met with ambient lighting, wooden table tops and benches. We arrived around 11 and were greeted immediately; sat within 5 mins. Once sat, you scan the menu to order. There's plenty Korean and Asian fusion dishes to choose from. We ordered a number of things and everything was fresh and plentiful. When I walked in, the place was empty. I stood at the "Please wait to be seated" sign for way longer than necessary--especially since there were no other customers. I finally peeked in and saw two employees busy counting receipts and money at the register. (Bad Impression #1). After being seated, I was actually enjoying the music until I felt something sticky on my forearm. It was a stray bean sprout left on the table (Bad Impression #2). To make matters worse, the tables are incredibly low. Even at my height, I had to hunch over the entire time. I eventually gave up on table manners and just held the rice bowl up to my face to eat comfortably. Regarding the food: it was a bit salty. The kimchi fried rice was average, but the kimchi stew really missed the mark. That was the moment I realized this is a fusion spot, not authentic Korean. It wasn't horrible, but it's definitely different from the real thing. BUT, can we talk about the massive portions? (Good Impression #1). Everything is clearly meant to be shared. The service was actually good. They have a buzzer on the table for service, which I loved. It saves you from having to track down a waiter. (Good Impression #2). The ambiance is loud, poppy, and "hip." You better like K-pop if you're coming here. It's not a first-date spot because it's hard to hear each other, but it's a solid place to hang out with friends who like the genre. Will I come back? Not actively. But if someone else suggests it, I won't fight them on it.
