I had an idea of what I wanted it to look like, a gold halo around the diamond with room for a chain to go through the middle. I met with Eric, the owner who was incredibly kind and thoughtful. He listened to my requests and took my ring to remove it from its setting for measurements. A few days later he asked me back into the store to discuss options. He was very clear on every detail of how the diamond would sit and reflect. There was not a premade setting in the halo style I wanted that would support the size of the diamond, so Eric had to make special adjustments. About a week later Eric called me back to the store to see the final product and I was blown away; it looks absolutely exquisite. Eric's personal attention and expertise is worth the 45 minute drive for us! He fixed a ring that a couple of famous jewelers in Central Phoenix had absolutely ruined. They charged me a fortune by stretching the band and adding a paper-thin bit of gold to enlarge it. Of course, the band snapped with my first wearing because it was so fragile. I've worked with Eric on a few different things and I cannot recommend him enough! What I love best is he takes the time to help you understand the process and the different options, and why some options might not be a possibility. He has an incredible amount of ethics, attention to detail and creativity. And, frankly I enjoy just talking with him! For one job I had a couple sentimental diamonds that I wanted to have set in a custom ring design. I was able to talk through what I was thinking with Eric and he helped me figure out a way to pull it together. I reserve the right to change this if ever I actually get something here!! I've been there I think three times now. I have yet to be able to get something done here. Once was a repair he indicated he could do but it would be obvious (because it was an inexpensive item not made of precious metal). I also took a gold ring to him to see about resizing...he indicated it would likely damage the ring to do it, and any repair place that didn't notify me of that wasn't being completely forthcoming. Another time was to see about repairing a clasp on a gold chain. He indicated that this requires special solder and skill to do properly, and he had neither since few people have this sort of gold. He also helped us look at some pieces we inherited to figure out if they were worth fixing (a few minor issues with them). They weren't worth bothering. In each case he could have taken the job and made some money from me, but in each case he was honest and forthright. Seems that is so rare these days. I will continue coming here first if I have any jewelry problems because I get straight and honest feedback. If ever he says 'yes' to one of my problems, he'll get the work. If he did watches (bands, batteries) he'd have some work right now. But instead he actually recommended a different place for me to go for those. I appreciate that. read more
