A medical practice should be communicating to a patient throughout a service plan in a knowledgeable and professional manner . The comments about the bad experiences with this business's reception/admin. process are definitely true. I called twice a week for two weeks, and left voicemails, trying to make an appointment here, and received no response. At the end of the recorded message for the business it states that you can call a different number to leave a message for the doctor. I decided after the two weeks to try and call this number, thinking I was being helpful, because I assumed my messages weren't being received because there was no front desk or they were short-staffed, which often happens at the healthcare clinic I work at. I called on around 3pm on a weekday, expecting to just be able to leave a message with a different number about my difficulty trying to get an appointment. Instead I was surprised to be answered by a disgruntled doctor, who was very rude and dismissive, chewed me out for calling an "emergency line only" (which the recorded message that listed the number had not stated that this was) and claimed that the reason I had not been called back was being the staff had gotten off early that day (he was uninterested when I tried to explain that I had been calling for two weeks). He informed me that I should find a different dentist, which I did. Regardless of the quality of the dental work, the drama of the customer service issues at this business should steer you away. read more

I took my wife for an exam prior to her hip replacement surgery for a dental clearance. They saw us in extremely short notice and took great care of her. I recently came here to get my wisdom teeth removed. I was able to secure an appointment within days just by calling them, despite being a NEW patient, from the mainland at that. When I got there I was impressed by how nice and welcoming the office was, including the staff members (and their little dog Zeus! Bless him!) The surgery itself went very well. I thought I only had to get one wisdom tooth out, but I was advised to get all four extracted after taking an x-ray. Sounds intimidating, right? It really wasn't! Dr. Peter was very professional and explained everything very clearly and logically, and his demeanor put me at ease when I was unsure about removing all four wisdoms at once. In hindsight, I am so glad I went ahead with it and got it all over with. They used local anaesthesia so I was awake the whole time. Throughout the procedure, Dr. Peter communicated with me and with the dental assistant Petros very clearly, walking me through the process. This was REALLY important to me because I wouldn't have liked it if a dentist was just drilling and chopping away at my teeth without reassuring or telling me anything. But it took about two hours total and I walked out feeling perfectly fine, no pain at all. Insurance wise, most of it was covered by Delta Dental PPO, which I have through my school's health insurance plan. Lucky me! Check and double check with them if they are in-network. Overall, I'd give Gemini Dental ten out of ten stars. I am so glad I chose to get my dental work done here! Such a wonderful place with wonderful people!! Love it!! read more

I feel bad saying this. I know they are two individuals but I honestly don't differentiate between Peter or Nick. I make an appointment and the experience is the same. My family and I have been seeing them for about 5 years now. The parking is tight, but there is covered parking and I appreciate that. Just make sure you sign your car in before the entrance door. Both Peter and Nick and friendly and personable. I know a dentist just really needs to diagnose and address your needs, but these two make it pleasant. There are small things that help. Before I'm given a novocaine shot, both Peter and Nick put pressure with their fingers above the shot site to trick your body into feeling less pain. First dentists to do this and it works. I also appreciate the office staff. At one point the insurance company was denying my daughter's claim. They were able to figure out that my 20 y/o daughter was listed with a birthday in the insurance system that would have made her over 60. I also love their Saturday hours! read more

I have had my fair share of dental nightmares (multiple cavities and 3 root canals by the age of 23) and this was partly due to my ignorance of proper dental hygiene but also having some bad dentists along the way. After my nightmare with my first root canal (which ended up with my tooth cracked and extracted), I was referred to Peter Kyriakakis DDS of Gemini Dental Center. Peter is what every dentist should be. He is highly personable and his compassionate attitude has put me at ease on multiple occasions. He makes me feel comfortable to seek help from him. As a pre-medical student, he often walks me through his thought process to help me understand my dental situation and personally, that puts my mind at ease when I know what is happening on a more technical level. Most dentists will just walk you through the basic diagnosis and treatment, but Peter goes above and beyond and lets me know the "why" and "how" part of the whole process. Peter doesn't have to do this but he goes the extra mile because he ultimately cares about his patients. Peter also has a great sense of humor and that also really helps take the edge off when you are having severe dental pain. And we can't forget about the staff! They are just wonderful and are always very supportive! They make a great team! read more

After NOT going to a doctor or dentist for almost 10 years, I was very anxious and embarrassed. I really don't like to go to any doctor offices or to a hospital after my mom passed. I was hesitant to make an appointment. My friend saw me in so much pain from a cavity that became so unbearable that he took it upon himself and made one for me. My pain from the tooth made it an emergency appointment and so they took me in same day and fit me in between other appointments. I was very happy and felt very comfortable after meeting the dentist. Gemini has been my dentist back to when they were named Da Vinci Dental and when they were at their previous location behind the Old Stadium Park. Although the drive from home is far, they have done excellent dental work for me and have given me a reason to smile again; literally! Dr. Nick is my primary dentist but I have been seen by Dr. Peter when Dr. Nick has been out of the office. This dental office has done a lot of dental work over the years largely in part to my neglect of dental hygiene. One of the best things about this office is they do all the work themselves. At a previous dentist, I had to be referred out to a specialist for a root canal but not here. Dr. Nick is trained and certified to handle everything in house. Whether it's a root canal, oral surgery or cosmetic dentistry, he has performed all for me which is great because I didn't have to be outsourced to another Dr. that I didn't know. The office staff is friendly and both Dr. Nick and Dr. Peter are personable. They talk story with you while they're working on you in the chair so it kind of takes away any anxiety that you might have over hearing the dreaded drill! Parking can be a challenge due to the extremely small structure. Thankfully we have been lucky every time to get a parking space. I've had dental emergencies during the day where I'm either in pain or a temporary crown has come off and they were able to fit me into their schedule which I really appreciated. Let me just say this, I hated going to the dentist. So much I avoided going at all cost. However, all of those missed appointments finally caught up to me. I woke up one morning with pain. My worst nightmare, I needed to get my wisdom teeth pulled. I was now on the hunt to find a dentist that was accepting new patients, convenient , accepts my insurance, and had good ratings on different platforms. Enter Gemini Dental Center. Setting up an appointment was painless and offered a lot of options for scheduling an appointment. Gemini Dental was able to honor my busy work schedule and I was able to be seen later week. Their office was easy to find and offered covered parking. Office staff was very friendly and assured me I was in good hands. Dr. Peter Kyriakakis was very friendly and professional. He tried his very best to make sure I was comfortable was was very thorough when explaining the following procedure. The procedure itself was relatively quick and I was out of there within an hour and a half. The staff even called me the next business day to check on how I was doing. This shows Gemini Dental Center really cares about their patients! My first visit was definitely a good one and my experience with Dr. Peter Kyriakakis was wonderful! Seeing the dentist has been something I've found greatly important for my overall health. And I have this affinity for clean nice teeth. I was recommended by a friend to see one of the twins here Gemini Dental Center. It seemed that all the stars were aligned and God played a role in this match up, because this location was incredibly convenient to my place. About 2 minute drive and ten minute walk! oh heck yesss!!! Since my first visit I've had several appointments and enjoyed every moment. Laying in that dental chair while Dr. Peter and his hygienist worked their dental magic, I always felt comfortable and that Dr. Peter knew exactly what he was doing. He talks through the procedures and is really funny too! It's a bit difficult to laugh and respond when there are metal contraptions in your mouth and those sucking tubes hanging off the side of your lip, BUT I've always walked away happy and feeling so fresh & so clean. He's also very thorough with his check ups, he looked over my old fillings and redid a few, when I've had to get another filling he made sure he was doing all that he could to give me the best filling that will benefit me long term...and that the filling was targeting the whole area. Might sound a bit gross, but hey dental health is IMPORTANT! And if you want the best for your teeth I highly recommend one of the Grecian twins here at Gemini Dental Center. I honestly don't know if I'd be able to find a funny, knowledgeable, Greek dentist again. Perhaps I'll make semiannually visits home just to see them. P.S. He also still reads dental magazines!! I feel it's hard to find a good dentist in Hawaii. The brothers are both the best dentists I've ever had. It will be upsetting to loose their service when I move away from Hawaii since I have complete trust in them. I've never been in pain which in turn has diminished any anxiety I would have normally since I've had so many horrible experiences. They are both hysterical, chatty and personable. The staff are nice friendly women. The office is attractive. The dental chairs face a nice view of the mountains which makes it a more relaxing experience. Just last week I had a wisdom tooth pulled. I was in anxiety but knew I was in good hands. The actual procedure took less than a minute. I was shocked how no pain was involved. It's a relief to know that when the others need pulling that it will be a breeze. I have recommended them because of their excellence many times. Hands down, 5 stars. I usually have my teeth cleaned and fixed at Kalihi-Palama Health Center, where the service was always "ehh". I haven't visited the dentist in 3 years, after pulling out my bottom wisdoms. I wanted to get everything cleaned and fixed ASAP, so I called KPHC to schedule an appointment and was told that the next availability was in August. Just... no way. I then went on Yelp, in search of another dental center- and voila. I visited their website and saw that they accepted my insurance, and immediately e-mailed them to schedule an appointment, as I did not have a phone at the time. They quickly responded via e-mail and set me up for the very next day at 11AM, and I confirmed. I went to my appointment the next day, they had all the forms ready for me to fill out, and I was on the chair within 5 minutes. My dental hygienist notified me that we were going to be taking a lot of x-rays, due to the fact that my last check-up was 3 years ago. She made it as relaxing and comfortable as possible for me, and was very patient- also applied some ointment on my lips, because I had dry chapped lips, she was very considerate! We got through the x-rays very quick, and then started the cleaning. Every cleaning I've had in the past was a bit irritable, and the hygienist always managed to make me bleed. For the very first time, I actually enjoyed my cleaning, as my hygienist was very gentle, always checking if the pressure was okay, and knew exactly what she was doing. I'm one of the people who fears the dentist and has a phobia of drilling/buzzing instruments- but I definitely have to say that I really enjoyed my cleaning. After my cleaning was finished, my x-rays were brought in, and the doctor came in as well. First thing Dr. Nicholas Kyriakakis said to me was "Nice teeth!" He briefly introduced himself, a little small talk here and there- we then found out that we're both from the east coast, and that his aunt used to have a dental center in my hometown. It was pretty cool and amazing, because there's not much people who know that Upper Darby, my hometown, exists. He then examined my teeth, and told me what needed to be fixed. He found 2 small cavities, and a possible root canal (it is a very old filling in my bottom molar, we won't know until we drill it down) He also said that I have the option of pulling out my top wisdoms, I asked if I could wait a few more years, and he said I could. I only asked that, because I was a chicken- but now that I feel very safe and comfortable, I think I will schedule to have them removed ASAP. I will be back on Thursday for my cavities and will update on the experience. Trust me, I was never a fan of dentists. I literally accepted punishment, instead of going to the dentist. But if you're ever looking to go, this is the place to go. PS: Don't think for a second that the review below me is accurate. Here's one major reason why: Dentists make money off of our cavities, correct? Why in the world would they refuse to fix cavities, if there were any cavities to begin with! That would be throwing away money. Also, they took a bunch of x-rays, because it was probably similar to my case, from not having a check-up in 3 years. I got a wisdom tooth pulled out here, and it was a surprisingly positive experience. **Very accommodating: when I called to schedule an appointment, I got to see the dentist the very next day! **All the staff are very friendly. Dr. Kyriakakis is extremely chatty and funny. He really knows how to set his patients at ease. **Cost friendly: they gave me a discount for not having dental insurance. The total cost, including full xrays and laughing gas was still very affordable. Dr. Kyriakakis also makes it a point not to try to sell any procedures you don't want. He left it entirely up to me what kind of work I wanted done. **Experienced. Although I was nervous about getting my wisdom pulled out, the procedure ended up being very quick and painless. At the end, there was hardly any bleeding. All in all, Dr. Kyriakakis is a great choice for the cost-conscious, and those who enjoy a dentist who loves chatting and joking. This has by far, been THE WORST dental experience i have ever had in my entire life. Before coming in for my cleaning (which should be a routine procedure) i made it very clear to the Receptionist and the Dentist prior, that i NEED to get all my dental work done before my next birthday, because my insurance coverage would be terminated. well i sat their for about 2 hours while the barely qualifies Dental Assistant barely cleaned my teeth and took about 20 different X-Rays. Then the idiot, comedian, dentist walks in , takes a slight peek at my mouth, without even checking for any cavities, then has the nerve to tell me that my TEETH ARE CROOKED AND OFFER ME BRACES! I could have easily looked into my bathroom mirror at home to see that my teeth were crooked, thats pretty obvious Sherlock but i came for my cavities! Well its been about a week since ive been at that terrible place and i found two cavities right in the front all on my own and im not even a trained Dental Assistant. I seriously can't believe the Dental Assistant AND Dentist both missed this, i think thats pretty sad, like what are they their for if they can't even spot out a cavity? I guess it's because they were too busy taking advantage of me by waisting my money taking worthless X-Rays that obviously were for nothing and trying to sell me braces that i knew i already needed. All Gemini Dental did for me that day was waste my time and money, then had the nerve to insult me on top of that! Have had "beautiful" PERFECT crowns EVERY time and the care and concern he has for his work is FAR above ANY other dental experience I've had and I'm "almost" 60 yrs old! So my opinion is invaluable since I believe I'm an expert w/dental care. "Affordable caring dentistry" their "mojo" they couldn't have said it ANY BETTAH! DON'T be fooled by any previous written bad reviews because based on the past "6" years I know even w/choices AND living off island it's worth it for me to fly over to receive dental care from him.
