The dental stalls are open style so as soon as you walk in, bam ‐ they are right there. But, behind them is an amazing view of the city below. The receptionist was really friendly and patiently waited (& assisted) my mother fill all the required forms. After all the administrative process was out of the way, we waited only a short time before the dental assistant came out, walked my mother (patient) a short distance from the waiting area, and to the nearby station. I watched as he put his gloves on before conducting what seemed like a normal routine to him. He reviewed the patient file that was just turned in to the receptionist, and entered vitals in a computer in the workstation. Another dental assistant joined them shortly after. She introduced herself to my mother before asking a few questions then proceeded to conduct an evaluation of her teeth. She verbalized her findings to the dental assistant who was still working from the computer (I assume he was inputting the info into the system). Once the exam was done, the dental assistant discussed her findings with my mother. I was able to overhear most of the conversation from the waiting area. It was a bit hard to hear because of the music playing but, I got the general gist of the conversation. Needless to say, patient privacy wasn't a big consideration during the layout of the offices and dental chairs. After the exam and discussion, the dental assistant gathered some dental hygiene items, toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, and gave my mother a small goodie bag. She waited another few minutes before the dentist came over accompanied by a third dental assistant (the other two where now assisting other patients). They both walked away seemingly to consult on another patient but came back shortly after. Now attending to my mother, the dentist reviewed her files then conducted his own evaluation. Overall the processes was thoroughly conducted, from the administrative intake to the dental evaluation. The only negative aspect is the open style, although it provides a great view, it can create some patient privacy issues. read more

Everything about having a tooth implant from Dr. Seamons went SO well. It's a very long procedure...about 3 months from when he extracts the tooth, leading, placing the implant post, xrays, scanning the mouth, ordering the crown...etc. EVERYTHING WENT WELL. Dr. Seamons was professional and very pleasant. His staff was just fine. Have had the implant in my mouth for over 6 months. Never think about it. It's perfectly mine now. Dr. Seamons has a very well run office- very efficient, staff are very organized and pleasant, appointment reminder texts are very appreciated. Dr. Seamons will be straight with you and will give you his honest opinion. He is also very skilled - I was so surprised that my gum graft procedure was done in a matter of 30 minutes with minimal discomfort (considering such an invasive procedure). Cant say enough about the staff bedside manner, simply exquisite. The office is bright , airy and so and sterile, it looks like a museum . My procedure included extraction, Deep clean (in one visit usually its two) , and another extraction for bits of tooth left over from a previous oral surgery in 2 places with a different Dr. Needless to say I wasn't happy to hear my staus but the Dr assured me it had to be taken care of and my discomfort would be minimal. Its been 1 month since surgery and I couldn't feel better . For the record I don't like and even fear the dentist chair and I didn't feel the urge to run out the emergency exit at anytime . It was minimally invasive, and didn't involve cutting into my gums like traditional periodontists would do. After the procedure, my mouth felt very tender for the day, but by the next day....NO PROBLEM! NO PAIN! WOW! I have been going to Dr. Seamons for many years. I see him every 6 months for cleanings and have had laser gum surgery twice. We are currently going through (for me) major work with orthodontia, also. All along I have said that his job is to keep my teeth in my mouth. Gum disease and tooth loss is part of my genetics. There's nothing I love more than how squeaky clean my teeth feel after my visits here. Although some may dread going to the dentist, I look forward to all my cleanings. However, it wasn't always like this... Long story short, I didn't really take care of my teeth and rarely went to the dentist, which led to some periodontal issues. While several other periodontists wanted to cut open my gums, Dr. Seamons offered an innovative, new procedure called LANAP, which used lasers. *Insert cool laser sounds here* Instead of undergoing the traditional scalpel and suture route, LANAP took less time and offered a shorter recovery period. I only had to eat jello for two weeks! Thanks to Dr. Seamons, my gums are in tip top shape! I now come back every six months for special cleanings, which I may not need any more since I'm doing a good job maintaining. That actually makes me a little sad since I love brushing my tongue against my teeth after those cleanings. If you are in need of a periodontist, I highly recommend Dr. Seamons. He has two locations (Honolulu and Kailua), both with amazing views, and his staff are very friendly and helpful. I was referred to Dr Seamons by my dentist (who has since left the practice) for a pocket in my gums for one tooth. I went through the laser surgery and was told return in 2 weeks. At that appointment I was instructed to rinse with a dye and brush my teeth. Dr Seamons came over to talk to me for a bit, did not even look in my mouth, in fact he was on the opposite side where the tooth was. I was told to come back in another 2 weeks. Again I was instructed to rinse with the dye and brush my teeth. And again Dr Seamons spoke to me for a bit and told me to return in 2 weeks. On the 3rd appointment as I was being instructed AGAIN to rinse and brush my teeth, I stopped the assistant and asked why am I doing this? She replied "we want to make sure you are brushing your teeth correctly". Dr Seamons then told me to come back in a month for a maintenance check up. As I left for my "teeth brushing lessons" I was told, only one of your teeth is affected with this pocket in your gums so I don't know if your insurance will cover the maintenance checkup. (Why wouldn't it??) When I returned for this maintenance checkup I was told they would be cleaning my teeth. I told them I already have an appointment with my regular dentist the following month so I don't need a cleaning. The assistant seemed surprised that I would refuse this and said she would see what the Dr said. He said he would do a complementary cleaning and check the tooth where the pocket was and do a 3D x-ray. He said there was a slight improvement in the pocket and the tooth looks good. And that I would need to make another appointment for 4 months. At that time they would teach me how to clean under the crown etc. Here's where I decided to cancel that next appointment. When I went to my regular dentist to have my teeth cleaned I told them Dr. Seamons said he would email them the results of what they did. The hygienist read the email out loud as she read it. It said that I had 6 pockets in my gums! She checked every single one of these teeth and the only pocket was the original one that I had treated. My new dentist also confirmed that there was only one tooth that was affected. Another thing that didn't make sense to me was my initial consultation was in Dec of 2017, I was told that my insurance only had about $600 left, BUT if I waited until 2018 to do the procedure it would cost me more. So they suggested I do it before the end of the year. How is that? I may not understand how insurance works, but I know every year I get x amount on a yearly basis. If I waited until the next year, wouldn't my insurance cover more and I would pay less out of pocket? Again I'm not an expert on how insurance works, but something didn't smell right. I decided not to deal with Dr. Seamons anymore. My dentist said he will monitor the tooth himself. Works for me! read more

LASER vs TRADITIONAL gum surgery Right around the time Dr Seamons commercial started to air on TV, my regular dentist informed me that I needed to be treated by a periodontist & referred me to his Dr of choice. Right off, I told him I wanted to see Dr Seamons. (his method of laser surgery portrayed in the commercial intrigued me). My Dr agreed to it & gave me the referral. I had the surgery about a year ago & wanted to hold off critiquing my experience until I could see the difference it made, if any, compared to the traditional gum surgery I'd had in the past twice before. With both of the traditional gum slicing surgeries, my pocket depths went down slightly, initially were depths of 7-8 with a few 9s & after what seemed like forever they went down to 6-7 with some 8s. I am pleased to say that Dr Seamons laser method made a significant difference in such a short period of time. The average depth now is 4-5 with a couple 6s. I couldn't be happier & I'm doing more to keep them that way...flossing, using the little brushes, water pic, electric brush. Plus, unlike the traditional periodontists that I went to in the past, Dr Seamons likes his patients to have their teeth cleaned by his staff in between seeing their regular dentist for cleaning so he can continue to monitor the gums. So in essence, you'll end up being a patient of his for life!!! OFFICE ENVIRONMENT The office itself is very modern, it's exactly how everyone else on YELP is portraying it to be. From the music, views, artwork, etc. And everyone that works at this office is super friendly & accommodating. Plus parking is a breeze. So if anyone is reading this review & is wondering if Dr Seamon's procedure is just a gimmick....trust me, it isn't. Love his office location in the Piikoi building. The million dollar view, the gorgeous office, awesome staff, and his playlist of songs is impressive. A graphic designer at heart. Perception is reality. From the color scheme, to friendly staff, and the doctor himself. People enjoy working here. I see why. Doctor is very knowledgeable and he's got swag. Easy going but makes you feel comfortable with the procedure he's doing. This is a very lucrative career and Dr Seamon thrives by the looks of it. There is the cutest pic on the counter of his staff in shades and one of the staff members holding a life saver. Lol. Classic. He's got all the latest gadgets, he knows his stuff, and the staff is impeccable. Happy staff happy life right? Only downfall, the person who runs his office. She's comes off a bit rude, abrasive, and bit like a prison warden. I observed her with the staff and interaction. But my sense is she's been apart of his staff for a long time and with that comes loyalty. So, other than that. I think doctor excels beyond exoectation. But he got me with his playlist. This was the worst experience of my life. The doctor was so reckless and careless. I left the office in shambles. Not only did he not know how to work the laser that was cutting my gums but he was jabbing my mouth with all types of sharp objects. And yes gum removal and all other dental related visits are uncomfortable but this was beyond that. Also I could smell and taste my burning flesh as the aromas filled my mouth. Beware I went to Periocare Dr. Braden Seamons at the recommendation of my dentist and upon making the apt. was told that consultations are Free I did not agree with the work recommended so did not make a apt. to have it done. I received a bill in the mail and called to find out why and was told if the doctor goes into my mouth it is considered a evaluation and would have to pay the almost hundred dollar bill. How else do you do a consultation at a dentist without going into my mouth? Its all about money and what they can bill your insurance . read more

I can only give 5 stars? I have been to other periodontists before. I have had implants done before. Never have I received the attentio - both to detail and my health as I have from Doc Seamons. He inserted 2 implants (which were really painless) and had me come back more than once to check the healing process. The other dentists just said - see you in 4 months. Dr. Seamons checked the healing process, general health of the surrounding areas and was very easy to understand as he did the procedures. The office is spotless and I have always observed that everyone is very professional clean and caring. I have full confidence in his professional ability and caring. I had an incredible experience at Dr Seamons office. I went in for a cleaning and was impressed at how professional and friendly the entire staff is. The hygienist that was taking care of my mouth and teeth was extremely thorough, explaining every step of the way what she was doing, taking notes and giving pointers of how best to maintain healthy gums and teeth. When a current attack hit, I thought I would get an assessment by a local dentist using the new Laser Surgery procedure. That led me to PerioCare and Dr. Braden C. Seamons. Without cubical walls, it offers floor to ceiling glass with spectacular scenic views to keep your mind occupied while you wait. The staff is friendly, efficient and well trained. This most likely is due to the 26-years that Dr. Seamons spent in the U.S. Navy. The primary objective of the Navy is to keep your eye on the mission and 'Pay Attention to Detail'. This theme is obvious as you watch his team in action. Dr. Seamons quickly sets you at ease and thoroughly explains the procedure. Being a highly respected Naval Dentist, Dr. Seamons is totally accomplished in all facets of dentistry. Although he now specializes in the complex field of Periodontics, he knows, and has treated every aspect of his profession. During my examination he explained in detail the current state of my teeth, gums and bone. Then he explained his recommended course for my specific treatment. As luck would have it, he was able to start that afternoon. I had the full laser treatment... no cutting, stitching or gruesome pain. And the laser has the ability to reach into very tiny areas... resulting in a much better outcome than previous procedures. His nurse did the deadening procedure with the least amount of discomfort that I have ever experienced. If you have a fear of needles and the deadening process, you are going to love his nurse. The staff went into great detail on the post-procedure care and provided everything you need to carry you on till the follow-up evaluation appointment. The evening of my procedure, Dr. Seamons even telephoned to make sure everything was okay. A nice touch because he really does care about you... not just your money. I read the other reviews that weren't 5 stars. Look, Dr. Seamons is NOT a warm and fuzzy guy! If that's what you want, go to a preschool teacher! He has a "No nonsense, I don't mess around" approach. That's what I want from a guy with the sharp tools and laser technology. All I know is this morning I'm recovering from a procedure I had yesterday and I'm experiencing no pain. I can certainly say this was not the case when I had a similar procedure done at another periodontist's office a few years ago. I have some issues that require ongoing attention, and I appreciate his direct and honest advice. I need to resolve my dental health, and I trust the advice he's given me. And he's not out to nickel and dime the patients, as another reviewer has implied. His billing has been fair and insurance has picked up the bulk of it. I recommend Periocare.... well, I wish I didn't have to, but for those of us with these issues, it's a great office and he's a great doc. Edited to add: I've been getting some notes from people who say they want a warm and fuzzy periodontist. Well, what I meant in my review is Dr. Seamons is NOT going to sugar coat your issues to make you feel better about yourself. He's going to say, "You have a problem and if I were you I'd be doing everything under the sun to make this better, including putting Listerine in your waterpik." (He said those exact words to me.) Oh, I didn't take care of myself properly and I got a dry socket. He came in on a Sunday because I was crying from probably the worst pain I've ever felt in my life. I called and he did not hesitate one second, HE CAME IN ON SUNDAY! I love this man, I love his crew, Tracy, who also came in on her day off. They said don't apologize. Referred here by my primary DDS for treatment of 8 teeth. He insisted we do my whole mouth in one session. The procedure is supposed to involve two passes with a laser. Seamons got distracted during the first pass and told the anesthetist to finish, he returned for a few teeth on the second pass then was distracted again. He never did finish. My face was so numb that I couldn't talk to him until three hours later. He insisted he finished what I know he did not. He says we'll know in six months. He does not tell you prior that you cannot eat solid food for for 11 days. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!!!! read more

My dentist sent me to Dr. Seamons / Periocare, primarily because he's a great periodontist and performs gum surgery with a rather new laser technique. That's truly -- truly -- pain-free and basically hassle-free since there are no stitches to put in or take out. The procedure was explained thoroughly.
