Is it better to write a review right after the procedure? In my opinion, not always. As someone who's written countless reviews as a long-time Yelp Elite, I believe it's important to observe the healing process before offering a genuine evaluation--especially for something as delicate as dental implants. Now, my candid impressions. The first thing that struck me was how intimately Dr. Yoo understood the condition of my oral health--perhaps even better than I did. After only a short period, I felt I could truly trust him. My case wasn't a straightforward single implant. It involved a sinus lift and bone grafting, and the entire procedure lasted about 3 hours. There were moments when the sounds of the tools made me tense up, but the anesthesia worked perfectly, and I felt minimal pain throughout. Surprisingly, those three hours didn't feel that long. Either I have a high pain tolerance, or Dr. Yoo's technique is simply that exceptional. In Honolulu, procedures like this usually require separate appointments with various specialists. Under Dr. Yoo's care, everything was streamlined--from extraction to implant placement--all under one roof. Getting the implant placed immediately after extraction? That was a first, even for me, despite already having five or six implants. Post-op recovery felt efficient and smooth. I had three follow-up appointments, and each time I was given a clear assessment of how things were progressing. The healing stitches were visible for a while, but now even my gum line is gradually smoothing out. At the end of October, I'll be getting my final check-up and the much-anticipated crown, custom-designed under Dr. Yoo's supervision. I can already tell it's going to be something special. And lastly-- Dr. Yoo is more than a dentist. He's a brilliant engineer, a meticulous jeweler, and an artist all in one. Thank you for following along with my implant journey. Dr. Wada came to check on me, and with Bri's guidance they found an area of concern that needed attention. Instead of waiting weeks for another appointment. Dr Wada fit in time to get my cavity dealt with in the same appointment, just a few chairs over. He too answered all my questions and made me feel seen and appreciated. The office is small, quiet, clean. The front desk person has always been fantastic: friendly, engaged, and helpful. Both hygienists I have seen were good at what they do, not peachy about my lack of consistent flossing, and made for a good visit. Yes, yes, I know flossing is important. Dr. Takenishi is super personable. He's efficient while also providing entertaining conversation. I leave feeling good about the care I've received and my plan for keeping my teeth. I was welcomed by very sweet assistant Aurora who explained the crown procedure every step of the way and was very efficient. This office is great in keeping up with digital dentistry - my crown was perfect and ready in 2 hours. No temporary or 2nd appointment to come back. Also my teenager is almost done with his clear aligner treatment and my toddler loves coming to his routine check up. The office staff is all very friendly and caring. The staff members seem professional, the dentists are friendly, and the space is clean. They also have ample parking, and are situated right next to a high end mall. Plus, the dental equipments they use are also pretty new. However, the 1-2 star reviews are ALSO valid. The way this dental office is run makes it feel more like a business than a medical practice. Like what other reviewers pointed out, there seems to be a frequent tendency for them to emphasize your need for higher level services. This is my second visit and twice, did the hygienist strongly recommend that I go through a 2-3 hour deep cleaning procedure - something that was never, ever suggested by other dentists. They also have a rather strong sales pitch. The way they approach you and communicate the "treatment plan" makes you believe that you are expected to move forward with what they recommend. And unless you really think about what they are selling... you will probably jump right ahead into what they suggest. When I go to a medical professional, I expect to be treated as a patient who is need of essential care. That means receiving only medically necessary interventions and nothing else. I am not a customer, and shouldn't be sold anything that I don't need.

The next tooth she filled was in the very back of the top of my mouth and she drilled too deeply to the nerve. I had pain in that tooth for over 3 years. She did another tooth in the very front of my mouth and the filling fell out in a few days. When I went to see my old dentist in Boston, he told me NONE of those fillings needed to be replaced so besides causing me long term pain due to her incompetence, I was also out $4500. I will never go back to this dentist and cannot recommend her to anyone.
