I'm RVing for the 1st time, and I woefully underpacked food. So I drove here from Furnace Creek Campground. First off, the scenery between there and here is awesome - I highly recommend the drive. This place is just what I was looking for - non-chain, small town cafe with clean tables and good food. I had unsweetened ice tea, a bacon and cheddar omelet, home fries and sourdough toast. A great little cafe in the small town of Beatty. It's a cozy space inside this family run restaurant. They have good breakfast foods and is perfect for a meal before heading into Death Valley. Not many options for dining in the town and we were skeptical of it at first since it's located next to an abandoned casino building but it was a pleasant experience. We ordered a Denver omelet and a Spanish omelet which were both good. read more

I don't recommend coming here for breakfast. We ordered a waffle and they gave us margarine rather than actual butter. The coffee was transparent and it tasted bad. Maybe we will try it out another time but for now we are headed to get some real coffee. read more

Our morning in Beatty began here every day and got us off to a good start. Very small restaurant, with only a few tables. Family owned and run, we had some great conversations with the young men who waited on us, and learned a lot from them about the town and area. So friendly! We loved the food, which is freshly prepared, so takes a bit of time. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the coffee while you wait! The veggie skillet was my choice very day. I was told, with pride, all the veggies are cut up freshly each day to make it, and it is served piping hot on a cast iron skillet. Really good and the proper size, not too big, but plenty, with a few potatoes on the side. One day, we also ordered our lunch to go for our picnic in the park, and it was also very very good! Will be our recommendation to anyone visiting here in the future! read more

This place was so memorably bad that my boyfriend and I still joke about it. There were flies swarming everywhere and all over our food, in addition to the dead ones that were piled up on the windowsills. The cheese in the club sandwiches tasted like Kraft singles. You could also tell that this was someone's house that had been (sloppily) converted into a restauraunt. We only went here because the Death Valley Cafe near Motel 6 closes super early and we had few other options for breakfast. The service was the only thing that was ok. Had breakfast here today, the burrito, excellent and the coffee was fine. I'm going back tomorrow, so that says more about how much I enjoyed this place! Service was good. Restaurant itself, some may view it as being a little run down, my wife would say that it has character and charm. read more

This review takes into account the cost as well as the quality. I have enjoyed better dinners, but nothing that was this good that compared with the cost. Their food is pretty doggone good. I had the tamales, which were the best I've had in years (excepting those I make myself). Although, I didn't care much for the ranchero sauce (tasted like canned tomatoes sauce). Even with the rather sad sauce, my meal was quite tasty. K had the shrimp fajitas. A bit heavy on the salt, but otherwise properly cooked. T had the breakfast burrito which he declared excellent. The portions were not huge, but I'm fine with that. I really don't like restaurants that pile on mediocre food. Cost was very reasonable. Being on vacation, we have spent much more for much poorer fare. The decor was essentially nonexistent, but I was more interested in eating than the atmosphere. This place wasn't terrible but it wasn't that great either. I mean I know I can't be that harsh for a small town place like this but I didn't really enjoy my meal. I ordered the super skillet and strawberry waffles. The super skillet was nothing special at all. Just literally scrambled eggs with potatoes and ham with a side of toast. The waffles were nothing what I thought it was going to be and def not worth $6. The strawberries weren't fresh and came from a jar. OK, this one is an odd one in a good way! On my way to Vegas through Death Valley, I ended up in Beaty longing for a good shot of espresso! "Good luck" you might say, right? Well I pulled over into the Mexican Restaurant next door by mistake, and the nice folks there pointed me to the coffee shop. It is not much and it might make you want to turn around and walk out, but believe you me the do espresso right! The nice young lady who greater me did not know what a long shot was, but when I explained it she made me the best single long shot I'd had sine leaving San Francisco a few days earlier!! Was thinking about trying this place. We go to Beatty Nv alot and eat at Smoking J's. But after hearing about the food and service last night from friends that went. No, absolutely will not go there. They said the food was horrible, service was horrible. He ordered roast beef, mashed potatoes. Roast beef was nasty lunchmeat looking, mashed potatoes were ice cold. Server never asked to heat it, replace it, change it, anything. And refuse to credit their bill. That is the 2nd bunch of friends with pretty much same experience. No, we won't even try it after that. I wish them good luck. They will need it. read more

The owner "Gema?" is this lovely Latina lady who completely understood my need for vegan food. And after eating at Denny's for 2 days, let me tell you ... Gema's food is REAL. Super tasty, authetic and 1000% better than Denny's. She even had almond milk for a vegan fruit smoothie with no sugar ... because the fruit was sweet enough. Small local cafe, family run and owned. Highly Recommend this place for its Mexican food. The wet chicken burrito is delicious. The strawberry lemonade is made with real mashed strawberries. Not great unfortunately. Their chips and salsa were 'Tostitos', room temp, and 'Pace' salsa(?). Underwhelming. Enchiladas were basic, maybe it was a canned ranchero sauce but more likely tomato sauce with a dash of chili powder. A nice breakfast joint in the small town of Beatty. The staff is extremely friendly and the food is tasty. Their Breakfast Skillets are very neat and not something you find often. Latte was tasty. Stopped on the way back from Death Valley. This is a small, family-run business. Their little kids hang out there while the moms run the place. Really nice spot for families and anyone looking for a quiet meal. Also a reprieve from the smoke-clouded "saloons" nearby and a welcome change from the burger and pizza menus that you'll find elsewhere, even in the valley. Awesome Mexican food. My husband raved about his chicken Diabolo. Unfortunately, no Mexican options for a vegetarian, so I had their veggie skillet from their all-day breakfast menu. Very nice! Fresh green salsa is a must! Free wifi is also a plus. I'll come back to try their espressos. The owners are also very nice ladies. Do check it out! read more

I wish I could give this place a better rating, but we were really disappointed in the food quality. Prices are great at around $8-9 a plate and we got the food to go, but the hollandaise sauce on the eggs Benedict look watery and questionable and the southwestern "3 egg" omelet I got must have been made with the smallest eggs on the planet. Food generally looked weird, side potatoes were undercooked and everything needed salt and seasoning.
