Best Buy has moved Geek Squad warranty coverage to BOTS. I bought a freezer and it broke within the first year and I paid for additional coverage through Geek Squad. Just so you know there is no use in the first year of warranty bc they just refer you to the manufacturer and do not assist at all. I therefore waited for one day past the one year warranty. They took two wks to come and then four separate visits (which meant one month) to "fix" the issue. Three months later same issue recurred and I scheduled another appointment. The tech NEVER showed for the appointment. To make matters worse I attempted to confirm that the tech was coming within the window and utilized the online chat (which is AI and did not understand basic information) I then called the phone number and was informed that they could not give me an ETA, but assured me they would come AND that they would call. None of those things happened so the appointment was an no show. When I went to reschedule the appointment online I noticed it was automatically canceled and I could no longer just reschedule online. I have spent over 40 minutes attempting to reach a human with no success. This has been a horrible experience. read more

Had such a hard time getting an appointment and was rescheduled on many times. The techs seemed ok but didn't care much.

Best Buy and the Geek Squad are the WORST!!!!! In fact, zero stars. Four days ago, waited over an hour to try and renew my membership and get an appointment for a computer repair to my work computer. System not working. Never could renew so could not get an appointment. Called the next morning. On hold 35 minutes. Couldn't renew or get an appointment. Called the next day. Still a problem renewing and 8 day wait for an appointment. Called a local repair named LiveIT and they picked it up at my house within 3 hours. Spent from 8;30 this morning until 1;10PM trying to talk to someone to stop the membership. 4 times requested a call back per their rotary dial. No call back. Called Best Buy. On hold for 20 minutes. Wanted to transfer me to the same line that I had been calling. Would not help me. Had to put a stop on my credit card. Obviously oversold their memberships. Feeling pretty hostile about the whole thing. DO NOT waste your time especially if you have business needs. read more

Buyer BEWARE! Horrible Geek squad experience. I'm a third year Female engineering student at WUSTL. Made an appt for my laptop overheating/crashing. Gave it to the Geek squad in tears ~was in the middle of a research project and they said it was not repairable. A salesman came over and I purchased a new expensive Lenovo laptop with a cooling tray. Almost forgot to pick up my old laptop that had crashed??? I was never given a receipt. They did not want to give it back. I insisted because my Uncle works on computer repairs and wanted him to take a look. He did and the hard drive was gone!!!! MY MOM Dr. Marie Went back to the manager and she denied they stole it!!! Coveniently there was no paper trail of it. Said that could never happen and they probably recycled it and gave her some papers with their recycling policy but I never gave them permission to take my hard drive out~and conveniently there is no paper trail. To the best of my knowledge they STOLE it!!!! Never go to this STORE!!! The female manager Nicole Estopare said to contact corporate. You better believe that I will contact corporate!!!! Beware! Automatically charges your debit or credit card for $199 or going rate at the one year mark! they auto renew and the only way you would know that this is going to happen is that it is in the fine print on your receipt. No warning, just an emailed notice the day they steal your money. Very deceitful practice. If they weren't trying to scam that would notify and give you a chance to opt out before they take your money. read more

Have to give them a review, since they fixed my computer. Was not the fastest, but they not only fixed whatever was keeping me from getting an internet connection, they updated my windows and drivers. Whatever they did seemed to make my computer faster. read more

I brought my computer to the Geek Squad in this Best Buy after my hard drive died. Before deciding on them I called and was told that no matter how bad it was, the cost would be no more than $600. The initial charge was $100. After a few days I was told that the computer needed to be sent to the data recovery center because the store could not fix it. I was told that there would be an additional $150 charge for a Level 1 data recovery and that the data recovery center would call if a higher level was needed. A week later I received an email saying that they needed more information. After waiting in a fairly long line at Best Buy I found out that the paperwork had been lost in the system so my computer had just been sitting there for a week. Four days later, I received the same email again. I spent an hour on hold at this branch only to be told that they didn't know what was going on with the computer. I received a voicemail the next day indicating that the cost could be up to $2,000, much higher than the $600 cap I was previously quoted. I declined the charges and requested that the computer (now in Kentucky) be shipped back to me. I then was told by the store branch that the $250 I paid was just for DIAGNOSIS, regardless of whether anything was done to repair my computer (which it wasn't.) After spending even more time on the phone with the data recovery center in Kentucky I was able to get a refund of the $150. Had I not pushed for it, the store would have kept that money, despite not completing the repair. read more

Geek Squad at the Burlington North Carolina Store is poorly trained and managed. They gave us bad direction and then due to following their direction, our warranty was violated. Totally useless They would have received zero stars if the system allowed. read more

no repair shop is perfect, but I think the question that we need to ask is, "What would we do without the Geek Squad?". If the Geek Squad disappeared overnight, what would our options be? Very limited, I believe. Nonetheless, I have gone to the geek squad numerous times for their mobile car electronics service and have been treated well every time. They seem to know their onions, too. And then one time, I needed some service from the upstairs "consumer electronics" Geek Squad and the young lady there was very helpful and very professional. Again, I think this is a national asset and should be condemned cavalierly for a random bad experience,, which goes with the territory sort of for electronics and gadgets. read more

I the Geek squad came to my new home to put up existing TVs and install my Sonos sound system together purchased over $3,000 in equipment not to mention another $3,000 in washer and dryer and all the TVs and Sonos speakers previously purchased The guys left the job incomplete and now need to reschedule a return days from now. Besides the Wi-Fi g not Ning completed the Sonos system is not working properly and I just keep getting the buck passed by various people at Best Buy. Should'a bought a new TV! I have an extended warranty on my TV and it broke. On the first appointment they assessed and ordered parts. The worker was very nice and seemed competent. He said he would be back next Monday with the part and that he was scheduling the appointment right then. My assumption was that it would be a.m. as before. That Monday mid-morning I called the 800 number. They said that he was coming that afternoon not in the morning. At 4 that afternoon I called again. They said he is coming tomorrow, not today. I complained, They did not care. The next day he did come with two parts but needed an updated cable to connect the parts. He would come back the next day to finish, The next day I get a call. The wrong part came in. It is being overnighted but may take several days to "process". Wants to set up an appointment for next week? So we are into our third week. And then in the third week the same thing happened. The tech scheduled me for Monday again and did not come. I called. They said the part did not come in and that they had rescheduled me for Thurs.-- but no one had bothered to tell me! I complained (nicely). They did resolve the problem. I got a new and better TV from them. So I'll raises stars from 1 to 3. I hope they fix their communication problems. read more
