I got my car towed there and it took them over 2 weeks to get it diagnosed. I was an hour away without a car and could not get to them. The work they were asking to do was about $1000 and they said that still may not have fixed it. I told them at the time I would try and get them the key when I could. A few more weeks went by and they called to tell me that I need to come get the car or it would be junked. They then wanted to charge me $500 for a holding fee (which is illegal without a prior warning or receipt). I was never able to get the car back. read more

They also brought another issue to my attention that needed to be addressed as well. I was quoted a price that I thought to be reasonable and fair. DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO GEARHHEAD'S GARAGE!!! IF YOU WANT YOUR CAR REPAIRED TAKE IT TO R&R AUTOMOTIVE. I have a vast history with Viva, I trusted him. He told me "Your just gonna have to trust me" I ended up spending $650 to repair the superiorly inferior wiring repair job. Which powered the entire left bank of my motor that Gearhead's is completely responsible for. There is NO debate to this. I asked the owner to cover this cost after he had my Lexus sitting outside at his shop for 3 months. The car was dropped off for timing belt change. The car was dropped off running perfectly. I hired Viva to do the job. He charged me almost $400 high out of the gate. I am an imbecile because I trusted him. After I was lied to about an 02 sensor pigtail needing a wiring job. Another severely sub standard wiring job that I was charged $278 for. The car is still misfiring. I ended up having to bring the car back 5 times. Every time I called , the car was fixed ready to be picked up. The car is still misfiring every time. I was forced to have it towed. I needed my car back. I will be accused of buying cheap parts, cats, plugs etc... by the owner in his response.None of those things affected the car being fixed at all. It's fixed now. The problem was your very unskilled hands working on the wiring of my Lexus. The owner said "the reason my car was there w out being repaired for 3 months was because " I wouldn't spend any money on the car" after giving him over $1800 for a timing belt change. I sent (4) close friends to him. Every one of those people are EXTREMELY dissatisfied. Yesterday I opened the fuse box to my Silverado. I paid him $200 to so called bleed my abs pumps. Opened the panel to find a yellow relay sitting unplugged there completely. Just happened to be the relay for my abs pump. I put it back in to find he didn't bleed or fix the problem " AT ALL" he charged me $200 to pull a relay out. I have asked the owner to sit down 5 times with me. Have been stood up every time.I asked him to cover the $650 it cost to have a Lexus certified master tech repair and find the sub standard wiring attempt that was causing the left bank to misfire on 3, 5 and 7 cylinders and his response was " I'm gonna sit down w you and your dad man as soon as I get back from injuring himself from separating his dogs from fighting" I provided him with proof. He hasn't paid and isn't gonna pay. I didn't get what I was overcharged for. He also installed a universal 02 sensor that was almost a foot too long for my car's resistance. S folded and zip tied it 4 times. Imagine this, it was bad!!!!! I can go on and on. I hate giving one stars. After all 4 of my friends were burned I had no choice. I brought my 1987 C4 Corvette Convertible in today for a complete safety and maintenance inspection to get it ready for spring and summer driving. Jay, the mechanic there, was excellent. He thoroughly explained in detail every aspect of the inspection and what was needed and what was not. The owner was also friendly and informative and you could tell the shop and emoyees had a family atmosphere. It is hard to find knowledgeable and competent mechanics to work on older classic cars. I was recommended Gearheads Garage by an acquatince for being an honest shop. Unfortunately, they are anything but and tried to take advantage of my elderly mother. My 2016 vehicle, that has never had any major issues and had less than 35,000 miles, was making a strange noise when hitting the brakes. Took it to Gearheads, and was called later that day to tell me 1) I had nails in my front tires, this was untrue. Stated I needed to replace my tires, despite 1 week before having them checked out after getting one nail in it and told they were perfect. Shop knew about this and constructed a storyline to go along with it to sell me tires I did not need 2) my oil tank, which had just been filled 3 days prior, was 2 quarts low and needed to be changed. This was untrue. 3) Stated that I needed to replace front and rear rotors and that my rotors were "severely scorched". This was untrue. Thats not it, there were other phony things on the estimate too. Total estimate? Over $2000. As the shop rep is excitedly spewing out everything wrong to my mother on the phone, I was quietly listening and immediately knew something was off. I can get a good sense of when people being are being genuine and when they are lying. We opted to get a 2nd opinion; was scammed out of a $115 diagnostic fee, but figured that it was better than the alternative. Guess what the 2nd opinion shop found? All that was needed was to replace my rear brake pads. Thats it. Nothing else wrong. Total cost of repairs was nearly equal to the amount this shop got for their phony diagnostic fee. Yup. Not only that, but the shop measured the oil in front of my eyes, mere minutes after being told my oil tank was low by this shop and that I "needed" an oil change, and found it was actually slightly overfilled. These people are, unfortunately, flat out liars, and they know it. Be very wary of this place. They try to take advantage of those who do not know any better. I will warn everyone I know about them. read more

The men and woman of Gearheads are a great group of individuals. They are the anti-dealership, mechanics shop. They will take care of your vehicle maintenance and repairs for a fair price! They support the troops and gave me a military discount (not sure if it is a standard policy or not, so you should inquire if you are a vet). They have always been fair and courteous to my wife and myself. They even sent us a Christmas Card! That is True Grade A Class right there! IF THIS HAD NEGATIVE STARS YOU'D SEE IT HERE..... I wanted a Super tune-up. I sent my car to GearHeads and they have had it almost 2, yes, 2 years.... YEA! that's my Fiero GT in the back. Sent it in for plugs, wires, belts hoses, distributor, rotor, alternator. Its August 15, 2023. I was told it would be ready MAY, 31ST.....2023... AND IT STILL SITS IN THE BACK!!! WTF... These people will hold on to your car... My tires are dry rot and the sidewalls are cracked. interior is warped. Unless you are in need of cheap car storage... I dont recommend these guys. dont believe me! plz dont...Do your own investigation. Just travel past week by week...there are ALWAYS cars that seem to NEVER GET FIXED...i paid 1940.00 and the car Still isnt fixed...They charged me almost 300.00 for a battery for a Fiero...lol now, but last year i was pissed! So now i have to have it towed to R&R to get it fixed.. Learned my lesson. My-bad doesnt have to be yours.... read more

We took our car to Gearheads after seeing the positive reviews and ratings they had. We took the car in on a Friday morning - heat wasn't working/no air was blowing out + the car was overheating. It got to be around 5pm and we never got a call about it so we called and were told we would get a call in the morning because they were busy that day - no problem. They close at noon on Saturdays - no call as of 11:30 so we had to call them and ask. They told us the issue and said they would get to fixing it and we should be able to pick up on Monday. Monday comes and we go pick it up, they say it was fixed and ready to drive - radiator fan was replaced and it was test drove without overheating, heat worked, etc. On the 15 minute drive home, it overheated and the air was cold. Called and took it back in the next morning (Tuesday-after putting antifreeze in it) and we get there and the lady says "we told you when you picked it up last night that the head gasket blew right?" Nope. They did not tell us that. On the paperwork it said it was test driven and heat works and to watch the coolant as being overheated is bad on the gaskets. Not once were we told this - it would cost more to fix the head gasket then the car is worth. It's an old car so I understand it's not something worth fixing and cars aren't meant to last forever, but I felt that's definitely something that should have been mentioned to us when we picked it up or at least been mentioned on the paperwork they gave us. What they did fix was a lot cheaper than other places would have cost us so I did appreciate that. I feel communication was not there as we had to call to find out updates and not being told everything before leaving the garage is a problem. Also-it was taken back on a Tuesday morning and asked for them to give an estimate on the repair, and have yet to hear anything at all as of Saturday. read more

Came in by the referral of a friend after being quoted around $1,000 at another shop for an issue, I thought, was with my heater core. I was only looking for a quote to see if it would be comparable: not even close! Molly quickly helped me and had Brian and Viva come take a look at my truck. Heater core was completely fine, and the fix was something completely different the other shop either didn't catch or just wanted money for. I came in around 3pm and I was out before close. This included them diagnosing the issue, ordering parts, and fixing my truck which I did not expect to be done that day. They were honest about everything from the get-go and refused to let me believe there was an issue where there wasn't. They saved me from a $1,000 unnecessary repair and the actual repair ended up costing me $110. I would highly recommend everyone here (including Lola, one of the guy's dog who is the biggest sweatheart they keep in the fenced yard next door while at work). They had enough traffic coming in and out of the shop that they did not need to BS people on their vehicles and will take great care of you and your car! I took my car in to get an estimate on repairs......they had it a week and I had to call three times to finally get someone to tell me what was going on! I was given an estimate that was way out of my price range so brought back home. Later I decide to have the repairs done so I called......waited five days before I got a call back then had to wait again five days to get the estimate again! They may be good mechanics but as far as customer service .......I have never in my life been treated that way! These guys were amazing. I needed to get my alternator fixed and a tire fix. While they were in there they found an oil leak that I had been complaining about to my former mechanic and figured out where it was coming from. The leak had gotten so bad that there was oil ALL OVER my engine and my tension belt mechanism was broken. They fixed it all AND did a tune -up. For the amount of work that they did it was VERY reasonably priced. When I picked up my van I realized that I had forgotten to tell them not to roll my window all the way down and shut my door or the window would fall off the track. Thus, my window was broken. Totally NOT their fault. The gentleman who worked on my van helped me to get the window up to make it through the weekend and then made another appointment for me to take a look at it. Over the weekend I realized that the tire they fixed was still leaking, so when I talked to them on Monday I told them this. They said they would take another look at it and fix it for free. I came back on Tuesday of the next week and the same gentleman looked at my window and informed me that my former mechanic had installed the mechanism improperly and that was why it broke. They fixed that window and repaired the tire again. Now I can roll my window down all the way AND shut my door. Thank you guys!!! read more
