Rather than buying a prebuilt system from Best Buy, I chose PC Laptops because I wanted to support a local business. Unfortunately, I was pressured into purchasing expensive accessories I didn't need. I already owned a 4K UHD monitor, but they insisted on selling me a special gaming monitor, keyboard, and mouse. I would much rather have spent that money on flight simulator controls, but these extras were presented as necessary to purchase the computer. They also pushed an expensive annual data backup subscription and installed subscription-based antivirus software I didn't want. I eventually canceled these services in favor of my own solutions. The final bill was nearly $5,000! To their credit, the computer ran Microsoft Flight Simulator beautifully for nearly four years. Despite my frustration with the purchasing experience, I was pleased with its performance. Then, in October 2026, the computer crashed during a flight simulator session, apparently due to CPU overheating. Although it still worked, the fans ran constantly, even during basic web browsing. I promptly brought it back to PC Laptops for repairs. Instead of discussing possible repairs, I was told my computer was too old and needed an expensive replacement. I was also lectured about not bringing it in for annual servicing, as though the problem was somehow my fault. They suggested it might not even be repairable and said it would take a week just to examine it. After returning home, I reconsidered why I was tolerating this treatment. I drove back, retrieved my computer from a storeroom crowded with other machines, and decided I was finished doing business with PC Laptops. I've since switched to X-Plane 12 and purchased a Mac Studio for considerably less than another expensive gaming PC would have cost me. Two stars because the original computer performed wonderfully for almost four years. Unfortunately, building a working computer is the bare minimum I expect from a business charging premium prices. Edit: I've attached screenshots of the childish humor distributed through their email newsletter, including content mocking prayer. I found it particularly distasteful coming from a Utah business. Update (October 2026): On Wednesday, October 14, I received a text from Bryan, who identified himself as PC Laptops' vice president. Unfortunately, the conversation accomplished very little. I explained that I'd already purchased another computer, but he offered no practical assistance with the gaming PC his company sold me. He also seemed unfamiliar with Pepe the Frog or why the newsletter's imagery might be offensive. I found that surprising for someone in the technology industry. Eventually, I expressed my frustration that the conversation was wasting my time. Bryan said he would forward my complaint to the Layton store manager. As of October 25, nobody from the store has contacted me. PC Laptops had an opportunity to restore my confidence in their business. Instead, they reinforced my decision never to return.

I have 2 pets who shed a lot of hair, so we've gotten our fans cleaned multiple times. The other day someone actually asked me if I was using a brand new computer after the fans/ keyboard/screen was cleaned at Computech. Service is always super fast and thorough. I don't know anything about computers, including my own laptop and these guys will never make you feel silly (As a woman, going into other tech shops, this is a common issue for me). Earlier this year, when my boyfriend was getting his computer "checked up", the tech noticed signs that the fans were close to dying - Computech got into contact with us and offered to order and install the fans. They were extremely transparent about the cost of the fans and labor, making it clear that they were providing service at an extremely reasonable price. We will go back to these guys time and time again because of their friendly, fast, and well priced services.

If you read my prior reviews, you'll see that REVO Technologies is my go-to venue for all things…read morecomputer-related. It's been that way for roughly 20 years...even before REVO started as a spin-off from "Software & More" there in Holliday. The PC consultant there from Software & More, Jerry, who helped build us our first custom desktop back in the early 2000s started his own company in Cottonwood Heights called REVO Technologies when S&M went out of business. We purchased our second gaming/workstation "Stryker" desktop from him eight years ago...AND a 17" "Falcon" gaming desktop as well for my personal use. Despite a few glitches/bugs here and there, both of these last two PCs have been performing admirably...as we've continued to patronize REVO for upgrades, repair, and tuning. The most recent purchase last week was for my wife's "Stryker" desktop which needed some Win10 tweaks due to some mistakes I made last spring with User Account Control and administrative privileges... oops. I dropped the desktop off with Chris - the repair tech - on Monday last week and by late afternoon he had it finished, updated, cleaned, and working like a top! I paid for the diagnostics/repair ($70) and the tuning/cleaning service ($70) which eliminated all of the nasty dust that had collected on the inside of the tower case. Yuk...but money well spent! We got it back home and the new Canon MF753Cdw color Laserjet All-in-One printer drivers installed perfectly. My wife is back in business! Woo-hoo. As in the past, excellent service from Jerry, Chris, and the pros at REVO. Well done, and again Five Stars for responsive and accurate service.
