My wife brought home Gavi for the family for dinner and I ordered the "Gavi salad" from the dinner menu ($13.00) . When we took all of the item out of the bag we laughed at the size of the salad. It had to be a mistake, at best this was a side salad. I called the restaurant and spoke to the Manager Franco who asked me to send a picture which I did. After 45 minutes he did not respond to the test so I called back and asked him if he received the picture and what he thought and he said the salad looks bigger on their plates at the restaurant. Haven't had a bad meal like this for quite a while. The rack of lamb was absolutely horrible. I was too polite by not sending it back. Couldn't find a fork without fat and nerve. Not even close to med rare. The calamari was overcooked. It was a week day with few customers but couldn't find the waiter and our water glasses was not refilled. Most of the table ordered a branzino special with breadcrumbs and parmigiana. It ended up being the fish covered on all sides like a chicken cutlet. Who is in this kitchen?? It can't be a professional cook that comes up with that kind of recipe. Just so poor in every regard. Btw, not one Italian or Italian American in this "Italian" restaurant. Looking for a place halfway between New Rochelle and north Salem, and Armonk was it, so we picked the highest rated dinner spot in town. Was a mix of really loud, due to the 30 person party in the dining room leaving the excellent bartender to serve the bar and bar room. The owner stood around and did nothing. The corkage we were quoted was $48, ridiculous given the wine list and location. We wound up with a couple of bottles of Hartford Zinfandel for $60 each. The food was good but not great. The Italian egg rolls were tasty. My Scallopini alla Gavi entree was tasty and tender but the Marsala never made it out of the kitchen. Overall it was nice. I had a wonderful lunch here. It was very socially distant and well done. I started off with the mussels in a wine sauce and ordered chicken scarpariello for my main course. My friend ordered the fried calamari to start followed by the shrimp Gamberi. The appetizers were amazing. The calamari was lightly battered very fresh and crisp. The muscles were so tender and the broth was exceptional. We also loved the complimentary lentil dip that was on the table with the fresh bread. Yum!!! The chicken scarp was tangy and delicious. The sausage was slightly hot, but in a good way. All in all the dish was excellent. Now, let's talk about the shrimp Gamberi. The sauce was unbelievable! It was homemade linguine in a shrimp bisque sauce. It was a wonderful blend of spiraled zucchini pasta and crispy shrimp. Done perfectly! Came here for the first time Saturday for a baby shower. There were about 50 people all together and we all fit in the room comfortably with more than enough room. So much food and all was really good. But the thing that really set this place apart was the service. Best service I think I've had at a party like this, maybe even ever! Our servers name was Joe and he was on top of it all. Not only was he great at his job, but he was super helpful with everything else that you don't normally expect and went above and beyond like helping carry all the gifts to the car at the end, helping set up the decorations, finding pencils for some of the games, and just being really attentive and friendly overall. Very good food. Great for a night out if you are looking for Italian. All of the apps that we tried were excellent. Really good cold antipasto and the hot was yum too. Eggplant rollatini was fabulous. Clams oreganata were done just right. Chicken scarp was ok. I've had better. But the specials were all excellent. Try a special. Service overall was 2.5 stars. This place is awful and, I am told, a front for something, It's an expensive, pretentious little spot with bad food and worse service. There were six of us and even though it wasn't crowded we were crammed up against a corner wall. Server gave us one basket of really bad white slices of bread -- 4 pieces for the six of us. No balsamic. Nothing but a disgusting bottle of olive oil sitting in the middle of the table that had one inch of liquid in it and a crusty unsealed top. Server never came by, never asked us if we wanted another drink (we did). Caesar salad was awful. I just looked at it and had to send it back. Totally soaked in dressing. No offer of cracked pepper. Dinner of chicken and shrimp terra mara had exactly zero flavor and the chicken nuggets were probably frozen. Gavi is one of my favorite restaurants to eat at when I come home to New York. I probably eat there about once every three weeks or so -- my family uses this place as our default restaurant when we want to get dinner locally on a Saturday night. The restaurant is generally pretty empty when we eat there (around 6-6:30), but even when we go a bit later and it's a bit more crowded, the staff is always attentive and friendly. Case and point -- yesterday, my clumsy family managed to spill two glasses of water (I'll admit that I was responsible for one of them) and in both cases a waiter was over with napkins within ten seconds. Make sure to try the lentils that are served with the bread; they are delicious and complement it well. For starters, I generally go with the Insalata Gavi (more or less a standard chopped salad); it is always fresh and they do a nice job of dressing it. If they happen to be offering a buffalo mozzarella appetizer when you're there, however, I'd recommend ordering that instead. A caprese salad used to be one of the best parts of their menu, although now it's only available occasionally. As for entrees, I generally order their penne arrabbiata (they took this off the menu as well, but it's always available if you ask). I must say that they have one of the best arrabbiatas I have ever tried and would recommend that you at the very least get a half order of it as a side if you decide to go with a meat or fish dish (which are more or less on par with other upscale Italian restaurants). For dessert, try the tiramisu; it is the perfect cap to one of the best meals that Armonk has to offer. read more

Next an Entree Pollo Rollatini Valdostana Chicken breast stuffed with prosciutto, mozzarella served in a wild mushroom sauce. A couple of bites, wait, no taste of prosciutto. I cut it open to look. None? Waiter, I would notice red prosciutto against the white mozzarella. His answer- it's cut up into tiny pieces. MY ANSWER CUT UP MY CHECK INTO TINY PIECE'S BECAUSE IM BEING RIPPED OFF! read more

The service was very good. The food was average at best. My insalata di spinaci would have been a lot better if it had not been swimming in the salad dressing. I'm not sure my scaloppine martini really was veal since it, too, was drenched in the white wine and lemon sauce and overpowered by the Parmesan bread crumbs. The noise level was excessively loud with no more than half of the tables occupied. Finally, decide what you need to charge for the food and drinks; add the tax; and I'll add the tip. The 3% "Service Charge Fee" is ridiculous and was undisclosed until the bill arrived. Credit card fees have always been around so stop charging separately for them. I don't want my restaurant bill to look like my cell phone or cable TV bill with separate itemized fees reflecting your cost of doing business. What's next? $1.50 per napkin; $1.25 per water class, $2 if you want it filled with water? read more
